FYI at 13:09 top building (Saddlery) would be illegally placed since the dike wall is below it. (I understand the dike was moved for the show to demonstrate negative points, but wanted to point out for people learning the game).
played it for the first time and took this video as explenation instead of reading the rules. I got 89 points but... the game took me almost 2 hours, mainly because i need to get familiar with the action spots and didnt want to make mistakes, this game is hard if you want to do everything very efficient i noticed :) I had so much fun playing it and reminded me a bit of the glass road but way more extended.
The answer will be no BUT solo anachrony is super fun and could be really interesting. Arkham horror the card game/Lord of the ring the card game could be a fun solo too!
Quick question for Mike... I'm trying to put together a database of content creators' top board games of all time (hope to publish it in August). I know you accidentally missed putting "Tzolk'in" and "Rajas of the Ganges: The Dice Game" into your last top 100 (you fixed that with "Underwater Cities" at the end of the Top 100 as 49.5). Where would Tzolk'in and Rajas Dice have come in? Thanks!
Oh gosh good question! I’d pop tzolkin down to 45 and rajas dice 67. Cool idea making a database! We are doing our top games again at the end of the year so that’ll certainly shake things up for us once again

I've already tracked well over 300 lists from over 100 content creators, and I'm working now on incorporating the content creators' BGG ratings (I know y'all don't have any, so I'm working my way through your mini-reviews to figure out what games you've played that didn't make your top 100s). Then I've got to stick it in an Excel 3-D matrix so I can do an algorithm that will compare all the games to each other (I got the concept from Mitch Hawker's old Best Roller Coaster Poll). It's a shitton of work, and I had to cut off the lists somewhere (I went with 6/30/22). I'm sick in the head for attempting this. Anyway, thanks! I'll let you know when I've finished it.
Great job, good to see Nick won! Have you guys played with Tea and Trade? Such a nice expansion. Be interested to see you guys play Caverna Cave vs Cave (Age 1 and 2) after your last couple of Uwe's! The feeling of 'not getting anything done' is so common in this game, because a lot of times you're building your engine, but with such a short game (36 actions) it seems like any spent going to the workbench, or just grabbing resources doesn't seem to be moving forwards. But its great, love it! Much love, grats on the family
We haven't played with the extension, our friend Steph Hodge said to not get it until we have really thoroughly played the base game, and we don't feel like we have yet. I'm sure some day we will pick it up though
we need more games about peat while burning peat in the wood stove to get that nice warm feel and an earthy smell while playing! For newcomers I might start them with Agricola and if they love that then go for Fields of Arle.
They honestly aren't similar even slightly, so if it looks cool, it's worth getting. If you're worried it'll be too similar to AFFO, don't worry they're nothing alike
Interesting question. Obviously we do think so since we have both games haha. They are very different. The fact that fields of arle is a 2 player game is neat. You can build up an engine which isn’t something you do in feast. Feast has polyomino tiles. So they are both farming games that go about their business in different ways making them both great parts of our collection
