This game definitely looks like a brain breaker [ 23:29 ]. Can't wait to get it! Thanks for the fun playthrough. I think it will be a bit before I can get all the dice combos down, but I'm sure looking forward to trying.
Hell yea, brothers !! Just starting the video now, hope i didn't overhype it a few months ago, freakin love this game. Shem Phillips is out of control!
1:04:06 Yellow and blue makes orange, Mike? Otherwise, I really appreciated seeing this game being played because it helped me understand the rules. Thanks a lot! Playing this later today and I’m super excited! 😀
P.S. I love Wayfarers; was my most played game last year. P.P.S. I speak English and French fluently and know some scattered words and phrases in Dutch and Hebrew. Can often understand Spanish or Italian because of French.
I speak English and Spanish, but would love to learn Swahili and/or Arabic. So excited for this game, despite how complex the dice and worker color combos sounds. I also NEED to play me some more Wayfarers before this arrives on my doorstep in Bend, OR.
This game looks absolutely fantastic! Everything works together love the dice combos. Love the translation chaining. Love the tracks. Love the tableau building. Can’t wait to play myself. Thanks guys. Excellent video.
Just saw your video on BGG about Yawning Portal. Nick, you have a HUGE range in your voice. Do you sing? You are very gifted. I could see you narrating books, seriously!
Just got mine in the mail last week. Looking forward to playing it. Seems like a lot going on...how did they not include a scoresheet for keeping score??!! a lot of points to add up at the end.
Richtig unterhaltsam. So macht Spielen Spaß!
I'm less intimidated by this than wayfarers, although I'll be interested to watch the solo play since that'll be how I play it. Such an interesting game! As for languages I can speak, I have a native-speaking-toddler-level Spanish vocabulary. The more I considered that, the more American I felt ... I have always wanted to learn sign language.
Thanks for the play through. I speak Danish (and understands Sweedish and Norwegian) and also speaks English an German. I had Russian back in high-school but really don't remember any of that.
I speak English and Bosnian, but when I write CVs I say that I also speak Serbian, Croatian, and Montenegrin as well since they're all so similar to Bosnian!
I speak Spanish (first language) and English. Would love to be fluent in Italian… gotta get back to Duolingo. Also, great play through! I’m so excited to give Scholars a try.
Wowww, nick knocking his blue 2 over and then setting it to a 3 and then using it go move 3 times.. foul!! Hahaha. I wonder how often i do stuff like that. Heheh
At 13:36 Mike takes a bump on the green track despite playing a blue die, I believe you're online supposed to bump on the same trick of the die you played right?
I have a question: when there is the possibility of retiring a translator, do you only choose one on which you have placed your influence marker or can I choose any other translator ready to retire?
1:04:05 - Mike uses blue and yellow to make orange (it should be green))) Nevertheless, great playthrough and great game) I speak Ukrainian, English and russian
The south trilogy brought the dice as the main thing, were in the West was the a lot of workers, and the North the strange very few workers, what you guys think the East is going to have different?
This looks great! It's a shame that Nick kept forgetting to take the research bump from translating, definitely lost some end game points and must have hurt his resources during the game. I'm a native English speaker, but also speak a bit of Dutch, Greek, French and German. And I learnt to read Ancient Babylonian in grad school. Having moved to the US a couple of years ago I'm planning to get started on Spanish soon!
I speak Norwegian (and obviously English as well), I took French for five years, but sadly never got proficient enough to use it, I can say couple of sentences and count, lol - I've been told my French pronounciation is good though, so I have at least that, lol. Other than that I learned to count to 10 or more in a few languages (German, Italian, Japanese and Thamil)
When you travel and put a scroll onto the board, you only earn the reputation and gold, not the bottom effect.. that only happens if someone translates it
They're honestly very different games. This game is far more linear whereas Wayfarers is more open ended. Wayfarers is harder to teach but not as heavy
@@TheBrothersMurph so wayfarers lighter and open ended, scholars heavier and linear. Gonna try wayfarers this weekend so I’ll see how smooth it’s gameplay is
MIKE, U have 3 points more, in the last turn the translator should retiring. Languages: Dutch, German and English. At the end all gold on your translators return if they did not retire, so Nick might have had an extra point.
I would like to learn Japanese. I have a friend that came here for work in 2019, but his contract ends next month and he will be going back home. It is my goal to go visit him and his wife when I finish my degree. Why go back to school to be a teacher if you don't travel during summer break, right?!
WHY DO ALL THESE GAMES LOOK SO DOPE THOOOO. Seriously Shem and Sam, I only have so much disposable income, I can't be buying EVERY game you make!
Great close-ups on cards! Thanks for the playthrough! I love Garphill games 😊
This is so good! You guys are the best. Also, the game seems amazing
Thank you so much!
This game definitely looks like a brain breaker [ 23:29 ]. Can't wait to get it! Thanks for the fun playthrough. I think it will be a bit before I can get all the dice combos down, but I'm sure looking forward to trying.
Enjoy exploring!

What a fun playthrough! Thank you🎉
This is a *very* good teach in a short time. Great job! Also, enjoyable gameplay
Thanks for doing this playthrough and explaining what you're doing. I finally "get" this game now.
Aye we’re so happy to hear it!
I speak English and Spanish, but would love to learn Swahili and/or Arabic. So excited for this game, despite how complex the dice and worker color combos sounds. I also NEED to play me some more Wayfarers before this arrives on my doorstep in Bend, OR.
once again, looks very overwhelming to start. Then it makes sense as you play. Looking forward to it.
Thank you so much for this playthrough! This made me less intimidated to try it :)
Oh awesome we are so happy to hear that!
This game looks absolutely fantastic! Everything works together love the dice combos. Love the translation chaining. Love the tracks. Love the tableau building. Can’t wait to play myself. Thanks guys. Excellent video.
Glad you enjoy it!
Loved it! Looking forward to play as soon as possible. Think in the end someone forgot to retire one of translators :)
I speak Spanish, French and sometimes English.... love this video and have barely started!
That's awesome! Multilingual!
This game looks great! I love the color wheel implementation. I'm nervous how heavy the solo mode might be.
Nick will be doing a solo play of it here in the coming weeks so keep a lookout!
There is a decent solo play video on youtube, just search for it. Or, wait for Nick, which should be outstanding.
Just saw your video on BGG about Yawning Portal. Nick, you have a HUGE range in your voice. Do you sing? You are very gifted. I could see you narrating books, seriously!
Ah Thanks Teej! Both of sing a bit but nothing serious :)
Just got mine in the mail last week. Looking forward to playing it. Seems like a lot going on...how did they not include a scoresheet for keeping score??!! a lot of points to add up at the end.
Definitely make use of the Garphill app. they have scoring stuff for each of their games. Really useful
Cool game thanks for showcasing it!
No problem!

Bumps on bumps! Cool cool cool cool cool cool! Indeed indeed indeed!

Sign language rocks! I(N) was going to go to school to be an interpreter, love sign!
45:25 - did Nick forget to take the immediate action of a bump on a primary colored track after transalating? edit - he caught it.
Thanks for the play through.
I speak Danish (and understands Sweedish and Norwegian) and also speaks English an German. I had Russian back in high-school but really don't remember any of that.

Ah yes I made a boo boo there good catch!
The south trilogy brought the dice as the main thing, were in the West was the a lot of workers, and the North the strange very few workers, what you guys think the East is going to have different?
Between scholars and wayfarers, which do u like better?
This looks great! It's a shame that Nick kept forgetting to take the research bump from translating, definitely lost some end game points and must have hurt his resources during the game.

I speak, english and spanish, and I understand french and german, working on mastering both of does.
Wow that’s amazing!!
I speak German (well, Austrian actually) and English, and I'd love to learn either Old Norse or Gaelic (just for the sheer heck of it).
Ooo that'd be cool!
When you travel and put a scroll onto the board, you only earn the reputation and gold, not the bottom effect.. that only happens if someone translates it
Nope per the rules you get to bump the research track when you bring it to the house of wisdom. At least in the rulebook we have.
@@TheBrothersMurph could be diff rulebooks for sure , still prototypes etc. Love the video as always, my dude (s)!
Yeah I'm sure things are slightly in flux still so that's good to note! Glad you enjoyed the vid still :)
Not gonna lie. I clicked for the Pip. 🐾
Seems very ap prone with all the color / number changing and chaining actions. Is this game more or less elegant than wayfarers?
They're honestly very different games. This game is far more linear whereas Wayfarers is more open ended. Wayfarers is harder to teach but not as heavy

Oooh that sounds really fun! Hope you get to travel there soon
Guesssing the next trilogy game will be in the East ;)
Hehe it’s only logical. Curious what they will do with it
Speak English and Russian already, would like to be able to speak Burmese (so I can understand my wife's family haha).
@ 1:04:09 Yellow + blue = Orange ? … & I want to learn to speak Italian.
It could be if you think about it
When you guys are done playing this game, can you go ahead and forward it to my address?
Hehehe
Looks like a green screen in the beginning

@@TheBrothersMurph hahaha
