  • Welcome to part 5 of a recent antique and vintage jewelry haul I got from a former jewelry store owner. You will see (and learn about!) some beautiful Victorian & other vintage pieces including a 14k gold & diamond tennis bracelet, a bakelite bracelet (we will test it!) , a highly unusual thermoset moon glow ring, a Charles Horner Art Nouveau pin, some AMBER (we will test that too!) and much MORE. Brands include Monet, Alice Caviness, Sarah Coventry, Mexican modernist designer Alicia De La Paz and others. We will also show you how to differentiate between damascene, fake damascene & Siam Sterling / Nielloware. I hope you enjoy my haul. There are bracelets, brooches, necklaces, rings, etc. You'll likely learn a few new things about old jewelry. Thanks so much for watching, please share and like this video if you're so inclined! I hope you enjoy my jewelry haul! xo

I believe the butterfly stones are Iolite . There is pink onyx, check the veins running through the beads, it was a little hard to tell in the video. Also, that particular onyx necklace could be very valuable. I used to deal with fine jewelry for Macy's. I also collect vintage jewelry. I have several brooches, that my great aunt gave me, when I was a little child, and I'm retired now. I've always blamed her for my love of jewelry! Enjoy your beautiful collection!

@@TheFunkyPickleThrifterI have to sneak in here and say that pink onyx looks just like rhodonite or, possibly, rhodochrosite. I have many kinds of onyx and never had anything remotely pink. I've been watching all your vintage hauls today. So wonderful. I have 2 pieces of sjole (sp?) and the purity varies. One is 800, the other sterling. Also, one of mine has sterling dangles, not the usual brass. They were worn by the bride on the wedding day. What's really fun is if you hold it by the pin and let it hang, it's awesome! I got my 2 pieces for a song, but they're actually quite valuable, so I doubt I'll be collecting. You have a great eye. TFS ❤️🏏🎸

6:43 today I learned What are Stick Pins: In the 19th century, tie pins were first popularized at the beginning of the 19th century. Stickpins were necessary accoutrements to keep expensive fabrics called Cravats in place and safe. Cravats were made of silk, satin, lace and lightly starched cambric, lawn cloth, and muslin. According to Wikipedia, Cravats is a neckband, the forerunner of the modern tailored necktie and bow tie, originating from a style worn by members of the 17th century military unit known as the Cravats. The modern British "cravat" is called an "ascot" in American English. Today, stick pins are used many decorative accoutrements.

I got excited when you showed that second brooch because it is very similar to one that I have. My Charles Horner pin only has one flower, and the stone in it is citrine colored. After seeing you test yours and determining that the two stones are purple glass, I am inclined to believe that mine is not a real citrine but rather just yellow glass. Still, it's a gorgeous Art Nouveau design and I really love it.

Oh wow, nice. My gem tester gets a little funky now and again -- I'm not convinced that reading was completely accurate. I think these pins have value anyhow, not sure if it would matter to a collector / buyer. Thanks for watching -- good luck. xo

Hi. It's Tanzanite. Tanzanite runs just a little towards the blue ish purple and Amethyst runs more purple-ish. Amethyst can be light or dark. Tanzanite can be a deeper blue but that is mucho mucho dinero

just thought I'd join in, Believe it or not, amethyst can also be GREEN!!! IT'S SO PRETTY! But agreed, tanzenite is like a blue lilac color, whereas amethysts are decidedly more grape-ey purple with greenish almost brown looking (think fermenting old wine) under tones.

Omg you have the most excellent natural stones, I'm going crazy... that pink and black....is A gorgeous specimen of Rhodonite or Black Stripe Rhodochrisite....I feel that many stones get a couple of names based on how much of the certain composite percentages they contain. But, the black beads are could be onyx, obsidian, apache tears, often get mixed up, but the black and pink are what I said (caveat, the black inclusion may very well be onyx, I'm forgetting at the moment). But that should get you in the right track once you Google it. :) I hope you don't mind me just chiming in, but I have an eye for natural gemstones and it's the least I could do as a thank you for what I'm learning from you!!! 😊
