During the Isle of Man TT 2017, RST Superbike race, Honda Racing’s Guy Martin unfortunately crashed at Doran's bend on his first lap, as filmed here by a TT spectator. Guy reported that he hit a "box of neutrals" which caused him to berm the kerb and take a tumble.
Thankfully, Guy Martin walked away from the crash with only a bruised wrist and was able to continue the rest of his TT 2017 campaign, taking a second place finish behind Bruce Anstey in the SES TT Zero Race, riding the Mugen Shinden Roku electric motorcycle.

In an ideal world he wins a TT,, retires, carries on fixing Scanias and does more of his tv shows, his shows are about the only good things on tv these days.
One can only dream
Feel gutted for Guy. Amazing rider and such a nice nice man!! Glad he's still with us 👍😘
Bike is like a box of neutrals. You never know what you're gonna get
Yeah you do, a fucking neutral! lol Nearly killed Guy and McPint
I am serious when i say this but he is extremely good at dropping a bike in an emergency. I don think its luck that he survived the crash at Ballagry and then this one at Dorian Bends - two of the deadliest parts of the TT track. He was going 170 when he came off at Ballagary and over 140 here. He know when to bale and how to jump off a bike and give himself the best chance of survival. Many riders hold on to the bike too long and die.
A lot of it is luck, had this happened many other places he wouldn't have had a choice.
mikiex agree maybe that’s why he quit he has had two or three really close calls. But i still think he knows when to bail. His crash at Ballagary says it all:
This is the crash that scared the shit out of him. You could see it in his face during the interview afterward.
would agree......makes a big difference getting off when you can semi control the end result vs when you havent a chance in hell......had multiple getoffs at well over 100 mph and he is still here.....once yeah maybe luck, 3, 4 or 5 times nah your way past luck at that point
@@mikiex luck is always key, but he jumped off that bike just in time, had he not jumped hed have been in hospital and surgery at best. Cam Donald said on the commentary thats a bad place to have a crash.
Guy had a lot to do with why he walked away, not just luck alone.
that man has a guardian angel looking out for him
Thats his reward for beeing a great person.
He really dose. He's a true human being.
I love how these angels only appear AFTER a crash 🤣
Falls off at high speed and still helps to lift the bike
Tommy B about 130mph, search for the interview with guy afterwards.
The adrenaline kicks in. Had a bike smash,as a pillion passenger, years ago. After police checked the bike they said”the damage is on this side!”(facing up) Someone must have moved the bike.Only then realized that I had lifted it off my mate, the rider,as his jacket was caught under the bars.
336 pounds dead weight(a Triumph Tiger 110).Amazing what you can do with an adrenaline rush!😊
@@dennislane100don’t make it about you 🤡
You can so tell that is guy by the way that he runs, walks and just stands and looks at his bike thinking what needs repairing at 4am the next morning 😂😂 amazing man
😂😂
Guy is a gentleman and a scholar. He has a BIG spill and is there to help the marshals lift his bent bike back up. Top man that guy.
1campbells1 I know right! Special breed these TT racers
crashes, know orange-guys well paid for being there, still helps picking up the bike.
DavidPrObooMBer Marshall’s do not get paid at TT it’s a volunteer position with NO pay. They do an amazing job
Dude, it's 2017 and you're recording vertically?
RaphaelLee Peters agree
STOP VVS why ppl dont understand it, this can cause eye cancer
lol
Just makes sense, given more of the road fits vertically in ths angle.
Very predictable thing to say. Vertical is appropriate in this instance. You morons love to say this shit every time. It must make you feel real so superior. These last couple of generations are fucked.
After his crash in 2010 it just seemed to make him feel more confident. After this particular crash in '17 he just walked towards the bike like he wanted to get back on it and keep racing. The man definitely has somebody looking down on him. 🌬🏍
remember he broke his back and sternum in the NW200 in 2015 on the BMW. Guy is something else.
@@jiboo6850 ulster grand prix
I disagree, this crash shook him up more than any of his other crashes, by far.
this time it wasnt rider error, or something that could be forgiven for reaking under the stress of the tt, a false neutral would be hard to swallow, and he had to jump off the bike.
False neutrals shouldn't be happening.
Boring
ANYTIME you crash at the isle of man and walk away....is a good day.
Guy Martin is a legend, glad he is ok.
I can't believe he just walked up and crossed the street like if he was spectating the race the whole time...glad he only messed up his wrist...Guy is Pro
Guy Martin was just built different, high speed crash and recovery s across the road to lift the bike!
Do enjoy his TH-cam channel too, massive respect 👏
I love sitting through 1:50 of nothing happening that could have been cut to then not even see what happened, awesome video.
Yup...last 25 seconds
There's a fast forward option you know. Life's hard been stupid 😂
@@skunkyhigh5So if you're a mind reader, you'll know exactly where to fast forward to 🙄
film horizontal pls
just tilt your head works fine
Leon Kleijn Have you ever filmed Motorsport before? Do you have any common sense?
Jeremy Frances Here you are again. Twice that I’ve come across. Are you going to take out your anger on everybody that has an innocent difference of opinion? Why not just explain your viewpoint instead of hurling insults? Do you think you’ll win anyone over talking to them like that? And if not or if you claim you don’t care, then I say unfortunately you’re a slave to your emotions. Forget that. Be the master of yourself. Good luck sir.
How much was it from being hit by the incoming bike? Less than a second?
youtube should show a dialog that says following video is vertical , do you still want to proceed - that should solve the problem.
Ali Ozorin another dumb fuckwit.
Jeremy Frances Thrice.
Recording vertically captured more footage in this case 🤦♂️
it'll take more than that to break the Wolverine. glad it was just wrist injury get better guy much love to you
lmfao knew that vertical comment would be down here hahahaha
At the TT if you can get off the bike when it goes wrong you will slide down the road and not into a tree or wall. He has this mastered and i think its a real skill that has saved his life at least twice.
That speed is absolutely frightening
Poor guy/Guy, can't catch a break :'(. Glad he was ok!
What is that black ball in the background starting at 00:35 and goes up into the clouds after the second bike passes. It's in the top far right corner
It’s the helicopter filming the race, you can hear it go overhead
From the tree breeze, was the video speeded up?
Going so slow in 55th place, he decides to ditch the bike and race it on foot 😂
That sound is intoxicating.
How many crashes does this guy have recorded? I'd have stopped after 4
Video starts at 1:52
Have you ever heard of an edit button video was way too long !
Did he get it going again?
Did he continue
Great video!
A box full of neutrals
its done exacly same to guy as it did mcguiness something not right with the honda just threw them both. watch both replays they both just tapped the brake for a second and both were off
Outra vez ?
He's helping to lift the bike. Guy is the best guy in the world
2:30 vertical video for 25sec video.
These dudes are simply all modern day gladiators.
I remember the interview after crash with Craig His face said it all,”The bike don’t like me and it don’t like John(McGuinness)”I for one was glad he quit the IOM after this close call
thank god he was okay...you rock guy...👍💪💪💪
He took out seven marshals and a cow.
RIP 🙏
seriously again?
glad hes not seriously injured
False neutral made for unpredictable absence of engine breaking, apparently. It's a growing concern with the new SP2.
Doe's it matter which way you record 😊
The problem starts when you fall of the bike at that speed. Bigger problems/challenges start when you are skidding towards something thats static, harder, bigger and heavier than you.
The word edit comes to mind
Que gran piloto Martin
When you see a wreck like that in person all you can think is "OH SHIT IS HE OK?" and feel the need to run over to him.
Glad he's Ok.
Why
Bloody gearbox 😢😢😢
Bad year for Honda 💩 A real shame for guy and McGuinness and lets not forget bruise.
Honda can't seem to do anything right in motorsport.
1st neutral 2nd neutral 3rd neutral crash. Bundle of shite. Excellent rider would love to see him gate and win at the IoM. Hell of a caricature
Is it me or is Guy travelling considerably slower than the rest in the field? I expected something much worse than the step off it happily appeared to be?
Given the title, this video could've been sooooooo much shorter
Dude, learn how to edit. 90 percent of that vid was not revelant.
Scary stuff.. 😮
It’s 2024 and this dude still records vertically
Too much video! 10 secs b4 10 secs after!
Дай бог тебе здоровья дорогой. Для меня ты лучший!
Wot an absolute bell for running across the track
glad he's ok
"tis but not a scratch" -Guy Martin aka The Wolverine of TT
Ive had a false neutral like that too. It isnt fun.
I did find the cause though and the bike never did it again
by heck
Two big crashes survived at IOM, Guy is a very lucky boy he should never have gone back...
Nice to have 2 minutes of nothing till you get near the crash time....learn to edit.
Dude looks more worried about the bike than himself. Glad he's ok
😢😞😞😞😞
How the fuck he walked away from that with minimal injury is beyond me.
Met a guy here in SoCal a while back on the 2. He had black shaggy hair and big ol lambchops. I told him he looked like Guy Martin and he just said “yeah” and walked away. Always wondered … ha.
The speed wobble reached on the motorcycles at the isle of man races is the reason golf balls have dimples to begin with and banned by Nascar.
he skipped his weetabix that morning
1:50 in the crash happens ffs
It looked like he was entering the curve with around 20mph too much speed. Not really his fault; tires wear. Thankful to God to see him get up after that. Guy Martin you are a very brave man Sir. God bless You
How can he even walk with such huge balls
This guy is a real Martin.
Legend!!!!
"Was that my braking point marker"?
The 'box of neutrals' incident
Guy please stop racing, just do more and more docos 😊
Box of neutrals
I’ve came off at 45 Mph after I hit oil the front wheel just went under me and luckily there was a grass verge down the side of the road so I bailed and slid along the grass verge and came to a stop looked behind me just as I came to a stop and seen my bike following behind me and I scrambled to get out of the way and luckily passed by me and stopped 3 meters beyond me. Just superficial damage really, scrapes to the fairing and pegs and a scratch down the swing arm from the curb. Picked it back up a rode it home by next week it was like new again. It happens, everyone comes off eventually.
Box full of neutrals. I always thought Honda gearboxes were crap.
Guy even helps pick up the bike after the crash!
Maybe learn to edit video just a little.
He went home to mow the lawn😂😂😂
Wow!!
Wht
Im not a fan of videos that waste my time for 1 min 50
Yeah that’s ain’t going anywhere, Guy.
I never like to see these guys crash. Glad he is ok.
1:54
Somebody oughta tell em to slow down a little bit.
Fucking Guy goes down at what? 120mph, then walks back to his bike to pick it up. Are you kidding
massive balls blocking the view cant see it. Guy Martin rulz!
Should have been a 10sec video what a waste of time
Well that was alot of build up for nothin
Almost 2 minutes too long but ok
How is Guy Martin not dead yet?
