Drop a comment if @RetroGameCorps brought you here! 😀
Just brought me here, and coincidently I looked you up because I bought myself the same tablet you mention during the 11/11 sales and a modded controller sounded good. (ADC mini 50)
Yupppp just got here as well lol. Caught my interest immediately
Right here! This is exactly the kind of controller and mod I've been waiting for. Great work jumping on that so quickly after the product was released!
Russ brought me here as well. Thanks for showing how easy that mod is!
👍🏿
Take a hair dryer to remove the centerpiece and all the sticky stuff will stay on the center piece that you remove to stick it back on . Then you gently take the controller apart but don't pull it all the way apart and you do not have to remove the electrical ribbon . Raise the gray bottom part up just a little bit and take some wire cutters and cut the stopper off. You can do it in less than 3 mins . That's all I did. I love it and it works great.
How did you exactly cut the stopper off? The same was as seen in this video, or did you cut it in a particular way?
I'm about to start with the mod, but don't wanna remove the ribbon cable.
Why rip off the cover at all? I just took a screwdriver and carefully began to press the elastic, and as soon as I felt the cavity, I pierced and unscrewed these screws. I pulled them out. I wiped it with alcohol and removed the glue from the slot of the screws. After I cut off the pins with plastic cutters (small cutters for plastic or copper wires), I put everything back together. I inserted the screws into inconspicuous holes in the rubber gasket and screwed it back. Now everything looks very neat.
I just did this for my iPad mini. Some things to note:
* You can cut a slit in the middle of the rubber in the top middle and just peel it back to expose that one screw; it will "self heal" and you likely won't see the cut once it's stuck back down
* I just peeled the rubber up from the top left and bottom right corners; again, it sticks back down without any extra glue or issue
* You do not need to disconnect the ribbon cable
* The bottom plastic shell really does come off easily; even a bank/credit card could probably do this, but don't use one you care about
* The two halves of the controller are not separated (no springs showing) with the iPad mini installed
* It works flawlessly with GeForce Now (except for not having the correct resolution in most games but 🤷🏻♂)
Great effort, hope gamesir release a bigger version to fit tablets they're onto a big winner here.
Me too! Thanks for watching!
I work as a production technician (a fancy way of saying that I work at an assembly line) and I work a lot with a scalpel when checking parts for any defects that need to be removed. A lot of that is done under the microscope and it's kinda difficult to pay attention to where the scalpel goes after I remove some material. I have to say, I had my butt clenched when you were operating that scalpel towards yourself as I know all too well what it's like to be cut with a fresh scalpel blade :O happened to me once and since then I developed a muscle memory not to move the blade towards anywhere where my hand is :D
P.S. I think you could print a telescopic extension to the railing part and make it expand even more and still clip on to the second half where you removed the stand offs. You'd have to print it at highest infill possible though so that it's properly rigid.
I actually like the video this way, where your commentary was recorded separately and added on top of the video.
I have the exact same tablet, love to see that i can do exactly what i set out to achieve thanks to your video!
I was almost give up on this nice products on my ipad mini, but since your tutorial video, I might give a try! Thanks!
I am so glad I decided to grab a G8 instead of a dedicated handheld! I had intended/expected to only use it with my old phone, but then I stumbled on this and realized I can use it with my Galaxy tablet, too!? Just what I needed! Thx
Cheers. I just done mine. I had already shaved the rubber down near the USB bit to allow it to hold my Fold 5 with it's slim pen case, and now I can fit in my Tab S9 ultra that I just go today. It's massive! I just had a quick game of Zen Pinball with it! Great easy mod. I didn't have any problems lifting the backing off, and it seems to stick back down ok. I also didn't remove the ribbon cable, I just carefully rotated the bottom part out just enough to do the carpentry. The spring is super strong when you get to 14.6" size!
I finally did it. If you have a really sharp & thin knife, you can cut the things without opening it. Just extend the controller and you'll see it. However, my knife is not sharp enough so I followed the video. It's relatively easy and no risk. The rubber pad can stick back easily so no need to worry about damaging it. This finally fits my iPad mini 6. The controller is a joy to play with.
Any problems with the iPad Mini volume/power buttons being pressed down during use?
Thanks a lot. My search for this has come to an end after two years of search. Can't thank you enough. Gonna buy the controllers today. And mod in the weekend.
I came here by myself = )
I'm really enjoying the Gamesir G8 (with a Pixel 6A), but looking to move my gaming to a tablet.
Thank you for this video!
I have some plastic baseboards from home depo that you can run cables through. They look about the width of the back of the controller. You could probably cut to size to cover the gap on the back.
Amazing review. You really bent over backwards to give us valuable content. Thanks!
I love the mod job and the creation of the BreezePortal!!!😎 I'm impressed that the controller could work on the 12 inch tablet. Super cool!!👍🎮
Cheers for the support! And for the name of course!
I was thinking more X-Portal because you can play xbox remote play too. And Wii and snes and, and, and 😅
Can I use this mod with a 11.5 inch tablet? It is a Lenovo Tab P11 Pro. Thanks!
Just got my Samsung Tab S9 and this will be perfect for it. I know I already got the Odin 2 but sometimes I just want to play my games on a bigger screen. Russ from Retro Game Corps got me here by the way. Looks like you are moving up in the world of YT. Keep doing these great mods and we're be here to support you. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the support! I have Odin 2 as well but I just love the big screen experience too!
Were you able to make it work with the Samsung S9?
I also have s9 please advise?
I have a Samsung S9 did you get it to work?
Watched this a month ago and ordered the RedMagic version. Finally got here today and I opened it up after a little heat on the adhesive. It glued right back down after surgery. Used a dremil for cleaner lines as it is translucent. iPad mini 6 needed it, but it is extra nice as it only needed ~1cm travel and the springs stay contained. I am getting a Tab s9 that I had a buddy with a 3d printer print the universal extender and will cut it down on the miter saw once it arrives. Now I gotta figure out all the stuff with emulators on both system. GAME TIME!
I was just thinking about the same thing and then I ran across this video laugh out loud good job
Did it. Worked perfectly. My rubber sat back pretty flat as well, but could probably always replace that wear item if they sell it. Works great with my iPad mini 6, but needed to put a piece of rubber so it wouldn't touch the volume and lock button.
Nice! Glad to hear it works with the iPad Mini. I'm tempted to get one myself!
too bad the original is just a lil bit short for the Ipad Mini 6.Im gonna mod it as well to fit my mini 6.
how was it after using for a month now? im worried about the springs getting wornout
the springs have plenty of extra travel, so I doubt It would ever get loose. It works perfectly. @@goldenaccs980
@@goldenaccs980 the springs are fine. They have plenty of tension and I doubt they will wear out. I haven't had any issues. There is plenty of springiness for ever a bigger iPad.
You mad man! I love this, thanks for the video and learnings ❤ stubbs
Thanks for this content and new subscriber. I got here by way of @retrotechdad review of the Alldocube iPlay 50 Mini Pro. Your mod instructions are simple, clear and very clever and greatly increases the utility of this great controller. I was able to mod my GameSir G8 Galileo controller with no issue and I'm a total newb at modding devices. I'm using this tablet/controller combo mainly for PC gaming via Moonlight/Sunlight streaming. This controller-tablet combo provides great balance and works perfectly for my use with very little lag. Bravo!
Thanks for this!
Just did *exactly* the same mode & setup on thr aldocube iplay 50 mini pro!
This'll keep me busy until a nice 7" powerful emulation unit comes around :) *Legend!*
Followed these instructions and now working flawlessly on my tab s9. Thanks mate
how has this held up?
How has your mod help us?
How it feels?? I mean maybe tab can fall easier???
Got it to fit my new A9+ Tab, thank you~
I just insert a small screw driver to rise the back plate a little bit and release it. Then I used a cutter knife to cut the two little plastics that hold the controller.
i did this mod, i took off the left side and got the 2 tabs of plastic and didnt have to touch the ribbon cable
thanks mate this is wicked!
I too have the alldocube mini and this works perfect. I have a game server where I run my steam host and use moonlight to connect and it works flawlessly. I do agree, if there was a backplate to help reinforce this a bit, that would be ideal because if you have an intense gaming moment and jerk the controller, you can feel the lack of support behind the tablet.
I just did this, I used a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. About 95% of the adhesive stayed on the rubber part.
Completed the operation and reheated the adhesive to stick it down. No damage at all on mine.
Fantastic! Thanks for the tip!
I was thinking the same thing to use my heat gun
Thank you, about 99% of mine stayed on the rubber. I left the hair dryer for 1 minute more or less, on highest temp.
@@SToad mine was perfect after I modified it. Unfortunately I over stretched the springs, and it doesn't return to the normal position anymore.
Still works fine though.
Also if the two bottom springs touch it shorts the controller.
If you can identify where the screws are through the rubber you could use an exacto to cutout holes for the screws
Great idea! My dumb self didn't even think of doing that! You might even just be able to screw right through the rubber!
@RetroBreezeYT if you measured it out and told us it would be incredibly helpful, maybe in a pinned comment?
Awesome work on the video tutorial @RetroBreeze
I just tried it with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ (12.4" screen size) & it works like a charm!
Looking to get a 3d printed bracket to cover the springs & prevent scratching the rear of the tablet. Thanks again! 👊🏽
But will it fit s9 ultra 14.6 inches ? 😁
did you ever find a 3d bracket? would love the files
Unreal dude. I now am playing god of war Ragnarök on a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with this mod lol. Epic
That does sound epic! If my video helped you, then I'm very happy!
Dope. Thanks for sharing. Gave me some ideas vs buying a 7" handheld that $200+. May try if it's a better ps portable or remote play option
Hey, this is totally awesome! I had already ordered the G8 before I discovered your video, but when I watched this I went and ordered the pro tablet and a ps portal case that's not molded inside so should fit this awesone setup. Just a couple of queries, 1) could you just use a small flat head screwdriver to pierce the rubber once you know where the screws are? In theory, the rubber you pierced would just close again after, just leaving a slit in the rubber that wouldn't be very noticeable when you're done. Could use neodymium magnet to find screws (or your vid😜) And 2) if only doing the iplay 50 mini pro, and I don't care about the larger tablets, could I cut off only like 66% of each post and maybe glue some of the off cuts into the hollow of the remaining 33% of each post for strength? Would that give me enough clearance for the 8" tablet but still stop at the end instead of exposing the springs? What do you think? That's what I'm going to try anyway. If it doesn't work I can still cut the rest off, but interested in your opinion. Thank you for your content, it's amazing!
Update - on rewatching I see that 2) is already answered. No. I see now that when you turn it around the rails are well beyond where the posts would be. If you ever did work out a 3D print mod to keep it in place, I'd love the file.
Got my g8 yesterday, all excited to try it but when I put it on my phone I found the screen was far too small for most games that weren't made for mobile. Thought I'd try it on my fire tab 10 with nova launcher, but it wouldn't fit. Found this vid and now I'm playing cyberpunk on ultra graphics settings on a £150 device, unreal, thank you so much!
i'll grab this to match the tablet that is incoming!! lovely!
Nice! Which tablet do you have incoming?
@@RetroBreezeYTthe one you reviewed recently,
blackview tab
Hi! I'm also looking to build DIY PS Portal. If I'll use it mainly for that, will the iplay 50 mini lite be able to handle it well? Thanks and super awesome mod! ❤
Great video I need to take mine apart and your vid helped a ton thanks!
Xiaomi is a good brand. I just modded the G8 to use the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro and it's working great. It's comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 w/o the S-Pen and it's cheaper. It costed me around $400 USD though and I didn't get it on Aliexpress. Also, thank you for the video. Everything worked out great :)
I’ve been your subscriber for more than a year, but got to this video of yours via Russ!
Haha thank you very much :)
@@RetroBreezeYT your channel has a different kinds of charm, and a different kind of attention to detail. I feel lucky to have access to your content and Russ’. Not sure what you can do to improve the algorithm, but you definitely deserve more subscribers!! Keep up the great work!
I bought the Blackview Tab 18 when I discovered this video, I love this tablet so far (way better than low budget Samsung and other pricy brand) ! Now, all I have to do is to make the mod on my galileo (with a bit of stress)😁 Honestly, your idea is just great, I was tired to play on little screen, it's so much better on Tab 18, I specially love it for the cloud gaming. Bravo ! 👏
Nice! I'm glad you like it! I still use mine literally every day :)
Might already be well known but I've just found out my ps5 control freeks fit onto this device as well, makes a big difference 🎉
That is AWESOME! I'm tempted to do mine to see if it'd fit a Tab S8 Ultra but I'd definitely need a way to solidify the hold as I fear it would snap out. Thanks, great video!
I'm sure it would fit! Let me know if you try it!
It works! Thank you oh so very much!@@RetroBreezeYT
@@GameTechTalk awesome!!! Happy gaming!
I have not yet, still want to just been busy. But, I've been thinking of just buying Sugru and slapping it over hehehe.@@Nevrix123
I came for this, Have the S7+
Switch is so big.
You could use some Velcro to keep the tablet in place. I used Velcro on my phone and backbone and it works great.
Great idea!
Just completed this mod myself! 2 notes:
1. Consider using a hobby file or something similar to remove the stopper nubs. No accidentally sliced plastic or fingers!
2. If you're having trouble reconnecting the ribbon cable, the USB C charging/headphone board can be removed to allow for easier manual manipulation of the cable itself when reinserting.
Great mod!
This is very promising, and is eactly the kind of work I was hoping would be done once the controller was released. Have you used this with moonlight for streaming PC games? Do you know what the decode times are like? Specifically for the smaller screen tablets, but I'll take any such info on any of the tablets. Thanks :)
I do a little streaming with Nick All-Star Brawl at the end of the video, and I've found it to be very, very good. My WiFi is really good though. I haven't done any decode testing yet though. I'll look into it!
If Gamesir made it for tablet too I definitely going to get it.
They definitely should do a revision!
Great video! A question. You mentioned that those springs are part of electric circuit. What happens if you touch it when exposed outside due to fitting something like 12’ tablet? Does it give you some kind of electric jolt since it’s running power? 😅.
Insane mate!! Thank you!!
Sell us a 3D-Print cover now 👍
Excellent review and thanks for the tablet suggestions. I've owned the kishi v1 and v2, the backbone, gamevice, and gamesir x2. The G8 is going to become the new standard. They just need to fix the app.
Thanks for watching! I agree, even the cheapo manufacturers like BSP are trying this design!
I have both here and currently wonder if the Gamesir Galileo should work out of the box with the Aldocube Mini Pro? Even though my controller is in Android mode, it seems not to be picked up by Android.
Thanks for the tutorial, this would be great for my legion y700
Can I ask, what are the dimensions of the iplay 50 pro with controller attached? Trying to find a suitable case/bag for it. I got a ps portal case without the molded interior, which would fit the tablet, but I see now that the controller grips come down below the tablet screen a little so not sure if it will fit. Can you give dimensions in mm from end to end and from top of tablet to bottom of grips? Don't have my tablet yet.
how is the analog sticks on the galilleo? im looking to get one for the sole purpose of modding it like this. id like to play single player fps games thru moonlight with it but im concerned that the analog sticks(specially the right stick) wouldnt be any better than the gamesir x3 which i already have
Hey mate have you found any noticeable latency with the Pro version? Some people say that the decoding time is 30+ ms on the Pro version vs 10 ms on the non pro.
Russ brought me here! Great video, thanks!
Cheers!
É possível retirar as limitações de plástico aquecendo a lâmina do estilete. Sai super fácil! E nem precisei retirar o fio que conecta as duas partes do controle. Obrigado pelo tutorial, super útil!
I used a mini heatgun (about $12). It made the backing come off and on seamlessly with no damage or tearing.
Excellent solution!
Excellent mod! You earned a sub from me
Thank you so much! Glad you like it!
i just did it! and bought the same 8inch tablet you have, absolute game changer! sure beats playing on my pixel 4 tiny phone, way better than the PS portal.. i can stream steam and game pass
Thank you very much friend, excellent tutorial, I managed to do it following your step by step, without having experience in opening electronic devices. The only thing I avoided was disconnecting the mini jack bus and charging, I didn't want headaches later.
Man this is dope I would love if they actually make tablet version of this controller I have a 11" tablet that I would love to play on this controller but I don't want to mess up the controller like that especially for the price
To be honest I was surprised that it didn't fit the 8" tablet when it arrived, but I really didn't want to give up 😁 I'm considering doing a spring mod to extend the springs, too...
I have question, can you try using backplate using 3d model, and what size of backplate fit for many tablet, such for ipadini 6, thank you
i got the same 8inch 50mini pro tablet and im going to try this mod with my gamesir X2 pro, thanks
Should work the same more or less!
Awesome. I did the mod myself thanks to you. I have a doogee T20 mini. (On sale for 70gbp) I mainly wanted a streaming device for moonlight. I'm thinking of upgrading to matebook pad 10 inch. But one thing is doing my head in is the led lights. There's no way I can see to turn off the green led and is so bright in the dark. Any ideas? Thanks.
whats the latency on the G88 for moonlight? Thanks for the vid
Ive got a Xiaomi Mipad pro 5g 10 inch with a 870 in it. Ps remote play works on it and then i found this video. Im buying and doing this tomorrow. Thanks for the video.
After the month or so you did this, how are the springs holding up? I'm worried about the integrity down the line.
Ideas to stabilize the tablet afterwards? Have an iPlay50 in it and it's a little wobbly. Like, the back piece that slides in bends outwards.
Hey, thanks for this guide. I managed to peel the rubber pad slowly and it looks perfect. Only challenge I have is that my Lenovo Y700 doesn't seem to be fully connected when I put it on. Any chance you've seen this issue in your tests?
Not sure as I don't have a legion yet. Let me know if you figure it out!
You king. Just did this to use with an S8 Ultra. Mind blown.
s8 ultra? Do the springs work normally after such a large stretch? and do they hold a tablet?
Have you tried the iplay 50 mini (non pro?)with this setup? I bought a doogee t20 mini which also has the 606 but a bigger battery and it seems to be having trouble with moonlight (via Sunshine) . I'm getting a lag spike every few mins that I can't track down. Have you observed this? It's not happening with my phone or sheild pro.
I haven't tried the mini unfortunately.
Would this work for a Samsung Tab S8+?
can we make so that the usb c perfect on the rog 7 series?bcz their usb c isnt in the middle like other smart phone, and asus doesnt release kunai for rog anymore
Hey, need help .. do you think that I can change a spring ? I did the mod but one of them is not in tension now so the gamepad is only usable on my tab not on phone. Thanks in advance
Hey, out of interest, is having the the springs exposed dangerous? Mentioned they conducted electricity? 🤔🤭
감사합니다. 덕분에 작업을 잘 마무리했어요!
I bought an iPlay 50 Mini Pro after seeing this video and made a 3D Printed adapter.
The iPlay 50 Mini Pro does not charge with the G8 attached. It is also not great at streaming from PC. H264 and HEVC decode alone takes at best 25ms at FullHD in Moonlight. Parsec needs the G8 to be in HID mode to support the analog triggers and shows faster decode latency than Moonlight but it's in fact even laggier. An 7 year old Snapdragon 835 is factor 3 faster at streaming.
Hello! great video, helped me a lot! Does Gamesir G8 work on PlayStation Remote Play with Android? thanks!
I want to try to do the same with the xiaomi pad 6 tablet. I have a question: will the springs stretch too much? nothing will happen to them? I'm worried that it will stretch too much and stop shrinking
Awesome, I was looking for something like this, I guess it will fit Samsung tab s9
I have a Tab S9+ but I'm scared that might be a bit too much for the structural integrity but seeing it works with yours it might be worth to give it a try. Hopefully Gamesir look at these vids (I saw another one for the Gamesir X2 without disassembling anything and just cut those nubs inside) and make some kind of even bigger mechanism in some way for 12-13" tablets without hacking anything. Also hope that Alldocube releases a V2 of their iPlay Mini lineup cause the single speaker sounds kinda bad I just couldn't get into it.
Yeah the single speaker is a real bummer on the iPlay 50 Pro. I love the raw performance and slim body of it, but there are A LOT of issues with it
Yeah I really love the form factor as well and man that CPU for 110-120 bucks is insane. Combined with the Galileo it can be a big boy screen emulator alternative. Fingers crossed for better models in the future :))@@RetroBreezeYT
Do you feel the Type-C connector is safe from damage? because it only moves up and down, and not left and right, which was probably more important in a tablet.
Plus, i saw some negative comments on this aspect in other controllers of this style, so i wanted an opinion from your side
As long as you make adjustments using the non-connector side, I don't think there's much of an issue. There is generally a little reduced stability, but I've been using mine daily lately with no problems at all!
Does the Gamesir G8 Rumble when using chiaki or psPlay streaming with Ps5 games?
Can the iPlay 50 Mini Pro run 3DS games? I want a tablet around 8 inches for 3DS emulation. My LG V60 is too small and my Galaxy Tab S8 is too big.
@RetroBreezeYT Can you make a video with this controller playing GamePass or PS remote play games ?
Any chance for a 3d printed cover for the 8" tablet mod?
9:21 this right here is a reason to not do this. You're on the right track though. Maybe a 3d print add on piece will help. thanks for the tutorial however.
How's the pro tablet? Will it do 1080p 60fps? Main use will be xbox gamepass/remote play. Between this set up or a Logitech G-Cloud.
For streaming? Handles 1080p60 no problem, but my local WiFi is really really good.
You can cut off the stoppers from the outside without having to disassemble. I did this to the x2 and fit it to my 14.6 inch samsung tab s8 ultra.
Really? What was the method? I looked for a while but couldn't figure it out.
@RetroBreezeYT fully extended it and wriggle a knife back and forth
Ah I see. Thanks for the tip!
@@ivana6141- can you elaborate?
Thanks!
@RolandDobbins if you fully extend it until you hit the stoppers and hold it with one hand tightly you can push a sharp knife through and cut them off. It's a little awkward but I did it in about 10 minutes.
Great content. At this point we only need a good Bluetooth option.
Cheers! I actually like that it's wired haha!
I literally returned my portal for this gem! 😛😋
Hello, thanks for the help, i just did it successfully! 🎉 I have one more question to ask, is it possible to switch the usb-c to lightning to work with my iphone 14 pro? Thanks in advance!
That would be a heck of a mod, so I'm guessing no. Not sure if a USB-C to lighting adapter would work, but it wouldn't be very secure.
Isn’t it extremely sketchy that the electrical current passes through the now-exposed springs?
Does this work with an iPad mini 6th gen? I know it works for the iPhone 15, but not sure if it's the same. I'm so confused about mfi with the iPhone 15 and before getting one and butchering one was curious if anyone knew
Like already commented, cutting the stoppers looks possible without opening the device. But would it make sense to extended the tracks instead? That way the stoppers would continue to function as stabilizers? Don't really know if this approach make sense 🤔
Got mine and right away did this. But instead of knifing it, i just used a strong grit sandpaper.
@RetroBreezeYT I Love it. Thanks for the Mod. Is there a way to switch the button to PS buttons? and do you know how?
You mean replace the physical buttons? I don't think so, at least nobody has made any customs yet as far as I know.
What about the stability? Can you move it and it doesn't drop? It doesn't open?
I just poked a pin through the rubber until i found the screw holes. Scapel it out and can access the screws and it looks factory.
