What a great place to live in. Nice review mate. Love the bike. Waiting for the SP to be launched soon and getting that.
It's not to bad a place, lots of great roads near by. Thank you. Can't wait to see the SP version
Great demo mate. Quick shifter does look good. Never used one. I like the comment though where you "prefer banging through the box!" .Excellent.
Thanks dude, it something you have to get use to but once you have one, you will find it weird shifting without one :P Think what you may of that comment haha but you catch my drift :D
nice bike that ben , i haven't got a quickshifter on my zook gsxs1000f but after trying the mt10 and super duke gt i loved the way they work im getting one next spring for my zook deffo
Guilio Barresi Thank you 😁 Definitely worth it, so fun to use!
Love it. Great review straight to topic
Thank you
Don't have an MT/FZ-09...but I did recently purchase a new FJ-09, and I ordered the QSS the same day. Unfortunately, the quickshifter took almost 3 months to ride. In that time, I got used to everything that's great annoy the bike, as well as everything that's "quirky". I installed the quickshifter a free days after receiving it (which was still during the bike's break-in period). It was a bit "unusual" at first, but over the next few weeks,I became more & more used to it, to the point I already think it's great...and that's still before the initial service. I had the initial/break-in service done last week, so, this coming Friday, I'm gonna take the bike out for a full day...not only to see what the bike can do, but to REALLY test the QSS QuickShifter. Just from what I've experienced so far, I'm fairly certain that, if any bikes in the years that follow offer an optional quickshifter, chances are fairly great that I will get it.
Sounds amazing! Love your detailed reviews also. Really helps people out there who might not have the experience of a quickshifter. Great video
Thanks dude! Was hoping it would do so :D
Test-ride the MT09 last weekend, and gotta say i really have to get used to the quickshifter. It needed alot of force to gear up and did some false-neutrals. The test-ride was to short to really find it pleasing.
Glad you enjoyed. Yeah i agree, when i got it first i had a good few false neutrals but the more the bike gets used, it becomes less and less
As someone who doesn't have the quickshifter, I don't think most of the benefit is the faster shifts. I'd say my biggest problem with going fast is the coordination and focus required to follow the road and hold on all while perfectly timing redline, cutting the throttle, pulling in the clutch, changing gears, releasing the clutch, and reapplying throttle over and over again in rapid succession. I'm great at quick shifts but the amount of motion it requires cuts down on my ability to handle everything else, especially when the road gets curvy or I find other reasons to not have my eye on the tachometer. Someone will probably tell me to clutchless upshift, but I'm not really into that idea.
It's easy. Just rev high. Have pressure on shifter. Close and open throttle at the same time as you go trough gears.
Until I bought my mt09 had never used a quick shifter , didn't know what they were or how they worked and wasn't really that bothered. Now wouldn't be without one, just adds a different experience when riding, especially if you really want to get a shift on smoothly. Also never experienced a " false neutral " when using mine.
Same here now, love it! It's normally going between 5th and 6th, maybe i am not clicking up enough
BigBenMotoVlogs what I have realised, using clutch or quick shifter if I don't have my left foot square on to gear shifter it won't engage !
Oh that's a strange one, i did try this and it shifted up normally for me
Is it wrong that I’m watching this from a hospital bed?
I couldn't think of anything better to do :P
BigBenMotoVlogs The nurses here think I'm nuts. So does my wife. But then, none of them ride a bike.
Very strange, my 19’ with QS is unbelievably bad. Lurches me back and forth, at anything under 6-7k. Might need to get it looked at once were out of lockdown- don’t want to go messing with things in case I fuck them up!
How's the headlight projector sir? Some say it needs a little improvement or you need to buy additional aftermarket fog lights to compensate with it? Nice ride sir.
Alca Bringer Its not brilliant, not as wide as other bikes, seems to be projected forward more than anything. Possibly a bit of adjustment or better bulbs
I see. Thanks for the info mate. Sweet bike. Always ride safe !
Thank you 😁
Thanks for the vid!:)
ADDONRACER Thank you, no problem. Enjoy making them 😁
Do you have to activate the quickshifter once or everytime you want to ride? And is it possible to use the clutch while being in QS mode? Thx for the video!
No and yes the quick shifter is disabled as soon as you pull in the clutch.
Will the quickshifter be able to use on aftermarket rear set with GP shift?
Have you removed the db-killer or is it still in? I'm thinking about buying that exaust myself to my mt09-2017.
The db killer is removed yes. It's an amazing exhaust, bit expensive new but mine is a good condition second hand one, it's as good as a new one tbh :D
Hi. Is there an aftermarket option to install an automatic blipper to the 2017 mt09?
Yes there is. The systems what were brought out for the 2013 and above still work with the 2017 versions. Plenty of companies available but if you do have a company in mind that haven't updated their website yet, drop them an email to inquire about it. Thank you
Just ordered mine!
@bigbenmotovlogs does quickshifter comes as standard on mt-09 2017 in europe?
It does yes, anywhere that sells the MT-09 model does but the FZ-09 which normally sells in america doesn't
Nice Overview
Thank you :D Hopefully helped some people
What's the tune on your end credits
I have been trying to find the song but i have must of edited before i changed my pc. If i find what it is i will update you
What exhaust have you got on ?
Sean Devereux In this video is the Akrapovic Titanium
Does anyone know if the QS is standard in the US on a 2019 MT-09?
No but you can pay the dealer to get one from Yamaha and put it on so.. 🤷♂️🤙
Personally think I would feel less connected and in sync with my bike with a quick shifter, but never had one and I like older bike so most likely will never get one
BritishGecko Its more of a gadget for me, not a neccessity to enjoy the ride. Thanks for the comment
I didn't like it at first. But I test ride some new bikes every year and many of them have it now. So now I'm installing one on mine.
I would go out to buy a quick shifter personally
Nice bike I get 140 along the coast road on my R6 🤣🤣
Jesus! :P Not going to push my luck that much haha
BigBenMotoVlogs fair enough I live in town so plenty of wacky races
Northern Welsh accent?
youre on the wrong side of the road mate.
Oh that age old joke!
