A beautiful song that everyone can relate to. Have seen Ms. Ian many times in concert. A brilliant songwriter with truthful lyrics that come from the heart.

    "I actually enjoyed that"
So did I, Ms. Ian, so did I.

Male or female that HS social alienation was there. i didn't go to a bulling HS. But the feeling fit the song even after. AND ABSOLUTE YES. I GREW INTO WHO I WAS. I never out grew Janis Ian. Your songs always touched by feeling. And your music has not lost its greatness. THANK YOU. You were one of the people who helped me survive the last half of the 70s. Then you disappeared from my radar and didn't appear aging until Breaking Silence. I went back and filled in the gaps and enjoyed. I wish you happiness. Thank you for the sanity you helped me keep, and for the joy your music brought. My regret is that I only got to see you play once and never with a band.

Your musicianship and writing skills at poetry are astounding and I have been transfixed by your presence from the moment I watched your performance on SNL. Thank you for sharing your gift. It really made my life more beautiful.

Janis, this one finds its way, like an arrow, straight to the center of me. I was seventeen once- long ago- but I still remember. Over all the decades, your song has not lost one scintilla of its power to make me feel…

Beautiful song! I heard it for the first time in 2023....Through whom? As a huge fan of Alain Delon I realised that this was one of his favourite LPs! Yes! And he recommended the LP to his daughter Anouchka. Now it is also one of hers....and mine....and my sons too. : o)

I was seventeen when this song was a hit. It struck me purely and honestly. Janis Ian nailed the experience of teenage angst and awkward adolescence. “At Seventeen” is a universal rite of passage for many.
