Most of these men look like they are in their 40s/50s/60s Blue Monday originally came out in 1983... nearly 30 years ago!!! So these men were in their teens/20s/30s when it came out They are the age group who originally bought it... they probably all have the original 12" single at home :)
Saw these guys perform this on Sunday night at No.6 last year. Genuinely one of the most moving, brilliant and awe-inspiring performances I have seen in 10 years+ of festivals. The awed silence of (I reckon) c.3000 people as the songs were sung was so much more powerful than the noise of a full stage. And the look on the faces of the singers when the huge roar came after each song was priceless. Can't wait for this year!
I saw these guys art the No 6 festival. My cousin who who manages bands said it was the second best gig he had ever seen. I forget what was the best gig but whatever it was a busting night in N Wales.
Brilliant Brythoniaid! At last getting the recognition you deserve and amazing it was only recorded in the local school room. How about a full album of 80's classics recorded in a studio?
I always thought the outro on the original, with synthesised chorus (like ELO’s Mister Blue Sky, or the over-dubbed voices on Dear Prudence), created an air of operatic drama and impending doom- but this is the real deal! Wow!
Fantastic the old boys are still banging out a great harmony and what a great wall of sound. \well done boys keep it up, well dFantastic y bechgyn hen yn dal i guro allan harmoni gwych a'r hyn y wal fawr o sain. bechgyn \ da iawn cadw i fyny, da iawnone
Wow. I really LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this. THANKS so much for uploading it!!!!!!!!!!! This vocal group should do a WHOLE ALBUM of acid techno and EDM hits.
I swear down I saw one of the old boys reading the lyrics off a piece of paper....much like Bernard Sumner does these days except he uses a floor-mounted monitor.
I have to admit that was me. This was my first appearance back after illness so I had a little crib note. What an event to come back to though. Unforgettable.
Sorry mate in retrospect that was uncalled for and I hope you made a full and speedy recovery. My comment was more about the lyricist of this song who often seems to be reading his own lyrics off a monitor when playing live. Welsh male voice choirs are of course magnificent. One of my favourite collaborations involving a Welsh male voice choir is Lady Boston by The Good the Bad and the Queen. Fantastic song. All the best.
@@philipusher4282 absolutely no offence taken. I actually loved your comment . That was the first time ever I had notes, and who does the camera go on ……me. Now a floor mounted monitor ….where do I get one. 👍

I've been coming back to this video so many times over the years. One of my favorite covers by a choir ever
A masterpiece!!!! Send this sound to space (so once a civilizations found it, they will say: “humans were COOL”)
Still returning to this many years after I first heard it. Outstanding cover.
2:16 Shivers down my spine. This is amazing.
The original track is one of my favourites, but I've got to say this is wonderful. I can't stop playing it.

No one sings as good as the Welsh.
Beautiful, unique rendition. I also came here via Spitting Image!
What a dashing group of '80s-appreciating gentlemen.

This is brilliant ! Totally proud of the boys!
Absolutely glorious version of this song! There are dozens of cover versions of this song, this is one of the best!

Incredible!! ❤
Great to hear the Brythoniaid featured at the start of Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone show. Time for an official release?
Great faces, great voices, great version.
This was so great and amazing and how they were standing in a ship in the harbour it was so amazing!
great tribute to singing/songwriting/musical giant bernard sumner and new order
I don't know why I like this
Quite simply superb !!!!!
It's absolutely beautiful.
Wow... if you have ever watched "The Prisoner" you get all the background and kind of a new take on the lyrics.
Brilliant. Loved Avram Grant at 0.35
Yup, Spitting Image!

Think I caught sight of Bernard Sumner among the tenors there.
the best version of this song, I ever heard. lol ;-)

Yep, me too - it was repeated this week :-)
If they played this in The Prisoner you’d never want to leave.
Me too
Rhyfedd, ond ma' fe'n gweithio. Gwd.
Brilliant
How come everyone from Wales can sing and all Welsh girls are beautiful ?
Serious question.Anyone know ?
Grange34 Maybe musical talent is the best / only way to get laid in that country?
Look out for Ron Perlman at 1:02
Nice promo literalism on the "ship in a harbour" bit. But this is fabulous anyway.
My Cousin is a Singer!!!
Wow! Cymru am byth
What Fac No is it?:
love it... can somebody cut it together without the piano though? spoils it a bit. massive choir sound, then plinky plonky piano
Gather your 12 friends to play chess between two. Ensamble a choir to sing monophonic...
Gwreiddiol ac anhygoel!
Just think, that song was an experiement with technology so the band could skip out on encores! The test of time!
holy mother of electro
Whoever clicked dislike, should really think about his """""music"""""
I do believe Sumner's singing style is that way on purpose.
1:08
Bernard must have been rolling on the floor while watching this video!
Brilliant, although the correct spelling is 'Brythoniaid'.
ardderchog dafs, "ffilm star" yn y gwneud!
Ah, yes. One of stranger episodes of The Prisoner.
hahahahaha
Kitsch
No females so lonely
Nice to hear the singing actually in tune (sorry Bernard, but tone-deafness is a disease)
