Jewish Community Watch, a child-sexual-abuse advocacy group, held a landmark seminar directed toward addressing sexual abuse issues within the Jewish community. The following video contains some highlights from the three-hour seminar.
The event featured a variety of experts from a range of fields. Rav Tauber, a world-renowned Rav, Dayan and Rabbi, lectured and provided insight into Jewish legal and halachic perspective. Rav Tauber loudly proclaimed that any rabbi that assists a predator is equivalent to having committed the crime himself. Benny Forer, a veteran criminal prosecutor, discussed legal issues pertaining to CSA and explained the reasons why there is a life-time registration requirement for sex-offenders. Dennis Brown, Executive Director of the Ness Counseling Center, provided insight into the mind of a predator and his motivations. Meyer Seewald, Director of JCW, recounted his story and reasons for creating the organization.
Jewish Community Watch is an organization dedicated toward the eradication of child sexual abuse within the orthodox Jewish community. As a victim advocacy group and community awareness center, JCW provides information to community members relating to accused predators as well as providing training and resources for survivors and their families.

I was assaulted by someone in my community, and I am not a child! It could happen to anybody at any age G-d forbid! I revealed the criminal's name on fb, and someone I know came to me after and thanked me for saving her kids, b/c her little daughter is in this criminal's daughter's class, and she's been to her house to play... can u imagine if I never said anything?!? It could have happedned to my friend's daughter as well! I know I did the right thing, and I got a LOT of support.
This is fantastic! I love the fact that religious heads are coming out and speaking out about this.
Whether you agree with religion or not, a person in power standing up for an issue in a positive light is fantastic and you being a douchebag about it doesn't say anything about their beliefs. It says something about yours.
Now only if the non believers would do the same.

There is no known therapy that works to reduce or prevent child abuse. It is always about power and control, not about sex. Bless all who are willing to step up and protect children.

It's a shame that the mesira thing is still firmly planted in many frum people's minds, to the point that abusers garner more trust than victims. Weberman is one such example, as well is the latest Kolko to get sentenced
and they don't have theaters, the only internet access I have heard of is email. Quite a few people became better and famous (ex. Malcolm X) while sitting in prison and using the library there! And several of the education programs in prison can boast a very low return rate of inmates who participated. Education made them better. There are always prevailing circumstances an it is not like christian culture and society has made these 'sex problems' in particular any easier to deal with
They do offer comforts but are you really supposed to throw people in there to rot? I am not saying that 'real criminals' should not pay for their crimes but what about the large percentage of people who are incarcerated that are innocent or there on very minor charges! The prison system is supposed to rehabilitate people, make them better, they made mistakes they deserve a chance to start over, depending on circumstances and the crime committed of course. It's complicated to find a just medium

it IS good to see a program like JCW taking the lead to protect the children. And a better system does need to be in place so that repeat offenses do not take place or in fact do not occur at all. It is a sad time to see the religious community struggling with such an issue.
So heartwarming to finally stand up for victims. Yes, it is watching your sister/brother die if you know of a molester and don't report it. And yes molesters don't get better, they need to be kept away from kids and anyone else they could abuse. Chazak LA, may NY learn some lessons from you! Recent story of Deb Tambor prime example of ignoring sexual abuse and resulted in a 33 year old mom losing hope and dying.

The Jewish people beginning from Abraham throughout the ages to the present time have followed the Holy Torah, the five books of Moses which was given by G-d to Israel His people through the hand of Moses our teacher. Our fore-fathers followed the Holy Torah even before the official giving of the Holy Torah on Mount Sinai, and we too follow the Holy Torah to this day.
We also hold to the principle of the Holy Torah that cannot be breached that a person may not be tried for any alleged crime on suspicion alone but must have two adult and validly qualified witnesses. We as Jewish people have always refrained from breaking any of the Laws from Heaven and the problem of child abuse by people of either gender is of great concern to us.
Jewish laws have very many concepts regarding guarding property and most importantly regarding guarding human life from inappropriate, accidental or deliberate assault or damage. It is of great importance that precautions should be taken to prevent any inappropriate sexual misconduct or other abuse in our institutions.
These measures should make the use of video by closed circuit TV with warning notices and a buddy system of pairs of children responsible to be aware of the buddy’s location and movements at all times even on visiting the rest rooms, where each child would be attended by his or her paired buddy accompanying outside the cubicles, waiting and observing. Also similar or as similar as possible monitoring measures should be in place on school outings, camps or other excursions. Each child pair would be of the same sex. All precautionary measures should be accompanied by classes repeated on a periodic basis, in addition to vetting employees and volunteers before appointment to any position.
Jewish law considers abhorrent any unsubstantiated allegations based on hearsay or acts of vigilante justice (injustice) as they are against the foundation of justice which is a pillar of the Holy Torah and therefore the precautionary route outlined above is the wisest course to take to ensure that there is no abuse of children.
+eliana miller in principle yes, we also use another one "the one to burn cain down" i.e. one can do so providing you can bring them down in flames, so video documents tapes etc may be ok or witness evidence. vigilante justice is practiced and sometimes cops may be involved concealing. its also a proviso that child ausers don't leave traces at times. we had jw eldrs go to cops accusing me even, obviously I wasn't in an ambulance for nothing so claiming nothing happened is a lie and abhorrent. that is the principle I used abhorrent thing/profane/vile. legal violation etc.also some data was deemed heresay such as claims of what happened when they weren't there and were 35 miles away, it was also concealing, obviously they wouldn't be arguing about it if it wasn't over that, so its a simple yes or no, so something had. I didn't say penetrated I said sex assault/violence/injury etc, paedophile(s), the other children were also being subjected to similar profile building and "stories" I had previously reported sexual intrusion etc and had reported missing records they were found, so I hadn't lied so I wasn't abhorrent.and yes after I was assaulted finding I was telling the truth is also a violation, I doe apply to accidental loss too, which im glad to hear you understand. it applies in a zero harm basis, as I understand it violence is only acceptable while being attacked in defence as I was. the problem is that reporting requirements for ministers in the uk require them to get and take data to the police they refused. id refused them over refusing normal torah and guillotine rules actually he refused to join the lines so id refused that and was thrown out, thats cool who wants to be there anywaybut id always refused that, so id been thrown aside as you may know, and as they refused to join no one must be returned there (like Abraham and the attendant) or them permitted back. so my families jaunt with the jw,s ended.it was actually that they just rrefused to join/marry called blaspheming allah/god, it was on the court bundle.once that was ascertained without doubt it was ok to leave permanently but I had to make absolutely sure as I did.we had that problem its like a confessional priest theres only one at times. and guarding property in the procedures is also a consideration as some try to ransack the victim, criminal damage did occur in reprisal attacks. as you know we can all do that. you can I can the others could we can all do thee law guilotines etc, I can see yours as well and read it. as you say he pillar of justice and freedomso how come they cant ? actually they lie and blame the victim you may know of a "despoiler" when they ransack like abysynia and rape theyre like that. if you see what I mean you and Ishmael are normal to me, I can see hear and read you. the responses I found elsewhere weren't even legal or human. so of course they conceal and may be corrupt I screameddd where id found that and went berserk, over the evil and sick violence.the other children were similar in other religions id actually woken up in hospital with adult girl child rapes at times. actually I couldn't even recognize them, what or who they were supposed to be. barbarians wasn't the word. that's what its like.

No - I am far from Orthodox - I am a very strong feminist who grew up frum - and left it for a lot of sociopolitical reasons - that being said, I am very Jewish - and have a strong respect for Halachah and for those who observe it consistently
