  • The first thing I like to do when I get a new car is give her a service.
    My 2011 Honda Civic Type R FN2 is getting new engine oil and filter, air filter, gearbox oil and coolant.
    I must admit I had my local garage do the brake and clutch fluids this first time.
    I show the capacity of oil and coolant that drains out which can be handy before buying the parts.
    A decent service is key before you start upgrading and modifying your car.
    Always make sure you use the correct jacking points (refer to the manual) , use decent axle stands and wheel chocks (if any wheels remain on the ground).
    Protective gloves and eye wear is a good idea.
    Your local Recycling Centre should be okay to take the used fluids.
    Subscribe for more Type R content and please give the video a like. I would much appreciate it.
    Mods to come include:
    Remapped ECU
    Brakes Upgrade
    Cosmetics
    Suspension...
    Thanks.

    Thanks for taking the time to film your exploits….I was looking with my ep3’s coolant tank in mind (I couldn’t see it under the bonnet), I now know where it is now thanks. Used to changing the oil on it now myself , filter was almost easiest to get leverage on from the top (I used a set of large grips ‘laser’ make, they’re like mole grips with a wide head and perfect for getting hold of oil filters to remove without having to worry about where you put your ratchet etc.)
    Thanks again, Will

      Thanks for the comment buddy. Much appreciated. I think the oil filter is the worst bit. I'm used to my other car which has a paper one in a plastic housing. So much easier!

    I'm about to do this on my fn2. So thank you. Big help!

      Awesome. You are more than welcome. Remember to undo the gearbox fill bolt first to make sure it undoes, before you undo the lower bolt and drain the gearbox 😀

    I just did an oil filter & oil change yesterday, copped the oil from the filter in my eyes! I had a hell job getting the filter undone too! That undertray looks like a real pain to get off!

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shit, hope you are okay mate. Filter was definitely the hardest bit. That tool I showed will make it easier next time. The undertray wasn't too bad. Just the sheared screws made it a pain. I think my cover is broken slightly as it hangs a bit low. May need to modify it.

      @@ModFix I'm fine! First FWD car I've worked on so everything is a little unfamiliar. Just did my air filter, never seen one so bad - even had green mold growing on it! Gearbox oil next! :)

      You know it's time to do the air filter when it's going green ha-ha

    Great video, looking forward to seeing how this develops!
    Out of interest is the ECU remap you've got/ getting a custom map or ECUtek one? I recall you mentioning about having several modes and I've been looking into TPW's Project marlin which uses the Ecutek as a base, so I'm looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it.

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers buddy. Yeah it's TPW's Marlin ECU. I need to get out and film the review. Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to get out in the FN2 😀

    Hi, thanks for this but Isnt it better to refill from the engine bay when you remove the battery and battery tray for the geat oil?

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I don't think it makes any difference.

    • @howardjenkins4760
      @howardjenkins4760 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks ❤ I can see oil spilling when it's refilled from the side opposed to the engine bay. But it requires you to remove the battery and battery tray and airflow box.
      I am going to attempt this weekend

    Thanks for the video. My type r is overheating currently and when I check the radiator cap I don’t see any coolant at all. You reckon my levels are very low/possible leak? Temp gauge gets up to 80% but no fans coming on.

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I would suspect a coolant leak (although mine was low when I bought it, but has been fine since I replaced the coolant and bled) . I would run through the bleed procedure, get the level correct in the radiator and tank, then just keep an eye on it before each journey. You need to replace the coolant every few years to keep it running good.

    Where is the Fuel filter for this car? Thanks

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it sits with the fuel pump under the centre console between the two front seats
