As a proud owner of the Rubies inflatable Godzilla 89, I can say it is a looot better aesthetically that the Legendary versions. The spines actually inflate, so they don’t flop around. And yes, you have to learn a whole new skill to zip it up solo 😂
Well. At least MIB now understands the mindset of Godzilla suit actors. It’s hot, stuffy, and smells like a high school gym locker. Probably the closest MIB gets to that truly authentic feeling of working for Toho LTD as a monster. Now all that’s missing is a big baddie for him to fight and some buildings to wreck.
Out of all of these, I'm actually most interested in those Japanese festival masks. I've only ever seen those things in person twice in my life (not the Godzilla ones, though). Once as a little kid at a Children's Museum. That one was a Popeye and it was weird because it was his face in 3/4s view and they gave him rosy cheeks or something that made him look off. The only other time was at a Japanese festival in Boston. I forget which ones they had. I swear Doraemon was one of them and they had either some Power Ranger type characters and some robots I didn't get a good look at. They're those kind of ones that you wear to the side of your head like a hat, so I guess that's why the cuter Godzilla one had the arms.
"I look like children conjured me in a campfire story!" Yes, I remember that episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark and it horrified me as a child. That Rodan mask made me WHEEZE as soon as I saw it, that thing is too freaking hilarious.
I still have my old 1998 TriStar halloween costume from when i was a kid. I remember so clearly being upset the mask just sat on my head like a hat, even my grandma was like thats dumb it should be a mask lol.
I actually had the 1998 Godzilla costume with the rubber hat from when I was a kid. It’s actually my earliest Halloween memory. My head was a little small, so the rubber hat part would always flop over my face and I couldn’t see a thing. Smelled a lot like latex.
They need to bring back the Heisei Kigus they sold at the Godzilla Store in Japan a couple years back. Hell, make all their Kaiju into Kigus. Think of the millions they could make selling one that's the Showa version of Mothra.... 🥺

I might be crazy but the Godzilla mess with the voice changing function has to be made by the same people that made a Darth Vader mask with that was the exact same thing it's at the only had one sound effect which was his breathing
In reality the Godzilla 1998 is the best costume. All it needs is a see through cloth that hides the face, so it looks like a throat, and a pair of claw gloves.

The King Ghidorah costume makes you look more like a Kamen Rider monster from the 70's. This is a complement.
