As i said before, I always run my equipment, year round it take 1-2 hours each weekend, to keep everything going strong! Tune up each spring, and ready to go... no issues, some of my equipment is 15-20 years old with out any major issues! All used equipment from free piles. Repaired them and keep them running, your issues will mysteriously diminish😀😀😀 I live in NJ, where most people put up their equipment during the winter, I don’t, I start everything one a week, and run them yard needing it or not! Everything runs!
I gave a 1 season use trimmer away two years ago to neighbor and bought electric trimmer. Thanks now I know what I didn't do in the tune up. thanks for the video.
Great video. All my straight shift Echo’s I found in the trash. Fixed them years ago, and have worked great. Any time I work on carburetors I put down a white towel or old t shirt so I don’t lose small parts.

Nice job Never known an Echo not start In my humble opinion there is nothing to touch them I have a 40 year old saw a 25 year old hedge trimmer and a 15 year old strimmer or wead eater as I think you over the pond call them ?? I use these for a living so they work hard and I mean hard never a problem look after them they look after you.. My friends who use other top brands have loads of issues and tend to buy new ever 2 years I have tried to explain but some folk just dont want to know ??Thanks for the advice re fuel stabiliser have listened to your advice and now using it in all my tools Keep up the good work always good to be taught by those that know !!
As a self taught small engine technician for over 35 years I think you do a very good job! I noticed you didn't show replacing the needle screen filter, or show adjusting the needle assembly, the Zama and Walbro tools will make a great counter sell with the parts you sell.
We have old echo bladed edger!!! The place were order parts, showed me how to put carb in! He said as you take apart lay everything face down. Then turn the stack of parts over!!
Good video, just one alternate way to put new fuel lines on the carb: Grab the fuel line with your needle nose pliers and dip the end of the hose in a bit of 2 cycle oil then push it on the barbed fitting. That will eliminate the fiddly action of stretching the lines from the inside with the pliers.

i love to hear the prices of the parts you use. where i live you can not get any parts from the small engine dealers .. the most you get is cord and sparkplugs..love your open and understandable maintenace
You do great work.Better than most men doing it.I have a Echo trimmer that I used a lot and put a brand new carburetor on mine, change spark plugs,air filter,and even put a moter on it from the spare one but unfortunately it still failed to start.So a new one cost 200 dollars and I just went and got a new one because taking it to the shop with something else wrong and labor cost I'm much better to get a new which a old one I would pay just as much or more for it to get it repaired.
No doubt it would start. I'm surprised you didn't replace the old primer bulb due to its age. It's annoying getting ready to start up a piece of equipment, and the bulb cracks when you press it.
I have an old echo sprayer that I need to get back working. I let it sit for a couple years because I wasn't using it. I got it to stat a couple times but not stay on, then the primer bulb cracked. I initially just got another bulb, but I'm going to go ahead and replace the whole carb on it
I just need to look at that engine, and could tell it needed a carb rebuild kit, and total fuel assembly replacement lol. Those gromets can be a pain can't they, and one mistake with the screwdriver and you stab yourself, and out comes a few colorful metaphors. :P - You did a great job, you brought life back to that tried and true Echo engine.
In this video are you using brake cleaner or carb cleaner? Should you use gloves? I am a farmer so you know I never put on gloves but some of your Guests may need to use them. I have seen most of your videos in the last 6-8 weeks and you have helped me a lot thanks Tim from Canada.
Saw you on R+R. I thought the video was great. I subscribed. As a widow, with no family to help with these things (my brother used to fix things for me), I appreciate this video. It gives me the confidence to fix things myself. I called about getting my ryobi trimmer with interchangeable tool heads fixed. I was told I should just buy a new one. I believe it may be a fix similar to this because it doesn't get gas to the primer bulb. Is it worth fixing? Thanks. Looking forward to future videos.
Thanks so much Susan! First thing, in the video if you noticed, I looked inside the cylinder to make sure it was worth fixing. That is where you need to start. It is sort of hard to see inside the Ryobis though. If you take just the engine unit, no need to take an attachment, to your local shop, they can test compression for you. I do it for free for customers, but they shouldn't charge you much. If it has more than 110 pounds of compression it is worth fixing. 120 pounds is preferred. From there, I want you to give me the model of the unit so I can get a visual of what unit you have. I can then look up the parts for you and tell you the best way to proceed.
For my 30 year old SRM2100/2400 trimmer I should freshen up the carb. It's never been touched. I'll need to find the right kit part number. These old Echo trimmer work for decades. Just like the pre 2002 John Deere JX75 walk behind mowers.

Can you do a video on evaluating clean vs replace for carb parts? Running symptoms of failing carb parts? I've been working on small engines on the side and I've found non that seemed to need replacement yet, most run fine.

I got it running (one of the pipes wasn’t connected to the carb) but it’s running very rich (black plug). Where would you start with that problem? Thanks I am impressed with the build quality of the Echo btw, I would definitely look at their products again.
After you rebuild your lawn equipment and remove the bad gasoline, put some fuel stabilizer (like Sta Bil) in the new gasoline to keep the gas from going bad so soon.
I love your videos because you show step by step how it is done. I've been looking to buy a pole saw and would like the best for my money. I was noticing that on Amazon they have some with 52cc motors for $155 through $250. A Stihl cost $414, Which would go with?

The mantis tiller has one of the best engines ever made. They do not make them that good anymore. If the piston and cylinder still have compression, it is TOTALLY worth fixing. I LOVE my mantis tiller. I used it for my entire garden this year. I will do a mantis video next!

Thanks for asking! I need some more information though. How old is the unit? Did it sit for a long period of time? Have you checked your air filter, plug? Is it slow to throttle up when you first start it?
@@Chickanic I bought the unit mid last summer for personal use. It did sit this past winter. we put a new carb and the fuel filter and Gromit kit with hoses as my DAD got mad when it leaked in the car. All this was done at the beginning of this season
@@justaquestion5080 Hmm. I never see them leak in that short amount of time. Was it leaking from the carburetor? Why did you change it? Even after sitting all winter, Echos will always start back up if you prime it real good and loosen up the diaphragms. Did it start this problem (not idling) before or after you replaced everything?
A newbie definitely should make sure they TAKE PICTURES. I would have replaced the primer bulb. This is the way to rebuild the carb if you want to do it again. Put on safety googles and use pressurized carb clean to spray in EVERY HOLE. Make sure you know where every hole goes and it is open if it should be. Use your brain! I like your video's because they are concise. Thank you.
I found out about echo from a dude that sold his whole kit, trimmer, hedger, pole saw, brush blade, and two motors because "they're just for parts". Put a new carb in it and I have whole lawn care kit for 100 bucks.
Bre, I feel sorry for you in this video. You don't even have a workbench. Good information though. I have a 40 year old (not exaggerating) Jonsered Lil Red that still runs, even though I have to give it a squirt of ether to get it started every time. I use it with a saw blade to knock down the small brush on the edges of my lawn before I blow the leaves away in the fall. Maybe I'll try to find a carb for it.
I use a mixture of both, but will only recommend aftermarket parts that I have tested myself multiple times. Most times, I will tell you what aftermarket to stay aways from because I have seen so many issues with them, they just are not worth the trouble. Thanks for watching!

My old roommate owns a land scaping business. And most of what he uses is echo. And I rebuilt most of his stuff a dozen time. Great machines.

Echo is the only way to go on pole saws. The cheap ones are Chinese knock offs that will not last near as long.

First thing you do is pull it through with the plug-in fuel for compression
Do you have to buy a New chain blade,if it's Bent out of alignment ( I think that's how to explain it)

What happens if you drop a tiny screw into the tall grass ? Magnet ?
I find empty yogurt cups a great place to keep small parts.
