Not gonna lie, I’m low-key going to miss this background where it feels like we’re just sitting down with you in your room 😂. The end of an era!
Same!!
When I found out Tahereh Mafi and Ransom Riggs (author of Miss Peregrin’s Home for Peculiar Children series) were married to eachother, I thought “Now THAT is an author-power couple” 😎
*knock knock* it's me, recommending a book i'm obsessed with to someone who didn't ask; if you enjoy a good author power couple, i implore you to read the kate daniels series. it's authored by a husband & wife duo working together, and it's GREAT. look up the trigger warnings if that's a concern for you if you do check it out.
Your wrap ups are basically how I find books lately and luckily this one came the day before a flight so now I have new books to go buy ✨✨ love your channel so much
🙏🙏🙏
same. she hasn't let me down yet!
Same. I have a long TBR of fully finished series for now that I own (and love but reading slump eugh).
But... I keep jotting down the interesting ones to get once I have all those finished. Or not, depends if they still interest me... like maybe a year later. :)
ITS 2AM HERE BUT IM SAT
same lmfaooo
😂😂😂
Where r yall??? It's 7:30ish pm where I am
@@beepbood Middle East lol
This came out 12 hrs ago so it was 2am for me too up in northern europe haha 😁 it's become one of my favorite things to have my breakfast with a new cari video (or jack edwards on the off days!!) 😍🤭
Thank you for handling the trigger warnings well. I like that you mention that they exist without telling us what they are. It has actually ruined so many books for when a reviewer says what they are without some sort of a spoiler tag.
Cat Sebastian is one of the FEW writers I read for 'not plot, just vibes' and I'm OBSESSED with all of their books! Every time I'm sick I just lay down with an audiobook and I'm immediately better. So happy to see that they're getting the praise they deserve!!
I'm so glad you posted these, I look forward to them every month. I just got back from bombing a chem test and saw this and it made me feel a lot better.
Omg i have no mind for science so just the fact that youre taking chem is brave to me 🙏
I'm curious to know how your second read of Prisoners Throne goes! For me the POV switch made it more interesting. In book one Oak is such a mystery to Wren (and us) and in book two (minor spoiler) since Wren changes so much at the end she because a huge mystery to Oak (and us). It kept me on my toes a little
I have been absolutely OBSESSED with your videos this last week or two. No joke, binging every single video every chance I get. Especially when I’m working, almost like listening to an audiobook or podcast. Ugh! Youre great!!!
I'm glad it's not just me who's noticed oddities with how translated korean dialogue in books sometimes reads off, i've felt the same about some books i've read translated into english and have never seen anyone else say the same! i'm excited to check out snow globe now, would've probably never heard of it had you not mentioned it!
Making suhoor while listening to you in the background 🤍
🥰🥰🥰
@@caricanread❤️❤️❤️
I'm eating suhoor while watching her 😂
Its currently Suhoor here in germany
omg cari! I’m probably going to end up going to korea this summer and you should do a “things you should know as an american tourist coming to korea” on your main channel and then do a bookshop tour for seoul on this channel! (just ideas lol and it would probably help the small cute bookshops in seoul)
I have a few bookshop tours on my main channel!
Life has been so hard your wrap ups make my day Cari ❤❤❤❤
Been struggling to find new reads and there were several books you mentioned that sound intriguing. Love your vids, Cari ❤
Just finished the epic shadow hunter video and now cari is back already! The gift that keeps on giving 🥰
Omggg so happy to see Cat Sebastian love!! We Could Be So Good has been one of my fave reads this year, the characters are so so well done, would definitely recommend. So excited to read You Should Be So Lucky now 🤩
Literally look forward to your monthly wrap ups!! I love to listen when I’m working 💞 also, where is that sweater from, so cute
I could listen to you talk books for hours and hours and hours. It’s so feel-good! ❤❤❤
THIS WOVEN KINGDOM HAS MY WHOLE HEART OKAY ❤❤❤❤ IM IN LOVEEEEEE
I look forward to these videos every month, I love them ❤
I’m so excited for Where Sleeping Girls Lie! 😍 I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Just now realised I wasn't even subscribed!? Been lovinggggg your channel, you're so funny and well-spoken and ❤️nice❤. Two years ago I got burnt-out in a way that still has me unable to work and live the more abled life that I used to, and audiobooks has SAVED me. Loved books as a kid, then adhd came into its full bloom in my teens and I wasn't able to read anymore, so long story short, I'm filling in for like 10 years of very little reading, and I feel like your taste is straight up my alley, so I've been saving like every rec of yours that I can find on EU audible. Thank you for doing this!
Love finding books to read from your videos 😌 I’m currently reading Emily Wilde’s series I found in your last wrap up video and I’m really enjoying it. Will definitely save some books from this one to my tbr!
I just recently read the warm hands of ghosts! I liked it, and it was neat to see characters from halifax in a book because the halifax explosion is very much local history for me. I also just got silver under nightfall and where sleeping girls lie out from the library so we're on the same reading wavelength!
i'm so excited for you should be so lucky !! i absolutely adore we could be so good, and i will read anything cat sebastian writes
your wrap ups are literally my source of new novels to read 😭❤️ also please please read ‘i who have never known men’ i would love to hear you talk about it
Added Snowglobe to my TBR! Thank you 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks as always for the cozy content. I used to be able to just sit quietly and read for hours but these days the silence is too loud. Thanks for keeping me company! Feeling like I'm sitting and listening to a friend is essential content these days. Still not reading much even though I want to, but it's nice to be reminded that reading is awesome. Tell me all about what you read, I'll be playing Graveyard Keeper lol
Hey Cari! Hope you're doing well. I love your updates every week!
Never been this early to a cari upload and I am HYPED (+ I loved hedgewitch and I’m glad you enjoyed it too !!!)
Thanks for being here 🥲
Let's go Silver Under Nightfall! I just started Court of Wanderers. I'm so happy my little throuple is back 🤩
I was NOT prepared for the throuple 😂😂😂
Thankyou for the recommendations cari 💞
Your videos are such a safe space to me
Lots of these look good and I'm VERY excited about the Cat Sebastian book....
it’s midnight in london but i’m sat ready to add to my library list! i hope you’re having a lovely week! 💗🌸
Thank you!! Have a lovely week too 🥰
I legit was just thinking about you, i checked your channel maybe an hour ago, and bam now you posted! So excited to hear about some of the things I see in your thumbnail!!!!
I post every friday at 8am kst 🥰
I recommend giving biography of x another try! It’s one of my all time fav books. I think if you get over the jump you’ll love it
Awesome vlog 💯‼️ I’m definitely going to check out The Blood Trials 😅😊 and some of the other books that you recommended because your recommendations tend to go with what I usually like to read 💯🩷😅😊
you read/dnf-ed two of my recent favorites, stay true hurts like no one’s business if you’ve been in a similar situation and it was nice to hear someone else’s perspective about it. I personally think biography of x is worth pursuing simply because it goes back into depth about their relationship and weird fragments of x’s life, but it is a lot lol you are right, don’t feel to pressed but if you’re bored and ready to give it another try. Something interesting too is, this is a paraphrased quote from a news outlet (nyt or smth) review is that the author did an ungodly amount of historical research because all the historical people are real (connie converse included!!) and that lacey essentially hollows them out and scoops out their true stories and insides and fills them with what she needs them to have done within the world and it’s quite interesting to look into. things to look into: book of doors by gareth brown, i think you’d be into it
Oh i didnt dnf stay true!! And perhaps ill go back to X one day 🥲
always love your wrap ups! I'll hole you enjoy SUN (I do remember so lil of the gore, but I also listened to the audiobook on walks and not while I was eating so perhaps it wasn't too bad for me 😅).
omg i’ve been waiting for your review of this woven kingdom!! i couldn’t decide if i loved or hated the first couple books bc the pacing was SO strange to me but the third one LITERALLY changed me just bc cyrus’ yearning and pining is everything i’m obsessed now
OMG GIRL SAME !!also I’ve been desperate waiting for the review I even woke up very early for this heheh
cyrus superiority. the way tahereh mafi has my psyche PINNED DOWN, cause she did this with warner and now cyrus 🫢
Picked up the hedge witch of fox hall because of you! Starting it tonight. ❤
🤍🤍🤍
silver under nightfall has been on my tbr for a while now, and i didn’t realize it had a sequel! looking forward to your review next month 😊
Its way more romance based than i thought just a warning hahhaa
Hi Cari! Found you recently and can't stop watching. Was wondering if you would do a series on your favorite book by genre. For example the best fantasy books you've ever read. I really trust your opinion! Thanks x
Watching Cari while fasting , a treat
Im so happy you read The Hedge Witch if Foxhall! It seems like such a cute little fantasy book with cozy vibes and you basically just justified me buying it 🫣
the covers of this woven kingdom are so gorgeous like wow
Right?!!
I’m always looking forward to your monthly wrap up so i can pretend that i also read a ton of novels but in truth its all manga and manhwas😆😆
thank you for all the recommendations!! putting holds at my library asap
🙏🙏🙏
Just wanted to say a day you upload is already a better day 😊
Im glad 🥲🥲🥲
I saw this video too late last night, I undertood half of it. Now I wanna listen again with my Goodreads open and add more book on my TBR
i take a lot of time to finish books too these days… i can’t seem to concentrate properly so i read super slowly and it’s so frustrating when you’re used to reading fast!!! ugh 😮💨😮💨 fighting cari 🥹
Fate Inked in Blood started off strong for me, but ended up being a 3 star read for me for the reasons you mentioned. My 5 star read recently has been The Spark of the Everflame!!❤❤ Love that series and looking forward to the 4th book in June
Fate Inked in Blood had so much potential. It fell flat for me since I felt like the romance was not cohesive with the story overall IMO. :)
yeah i thought a fate inked in blood was mid
When i picked up Biography of X, i had no idea it was an alternate history kind of story. It really threw me lol.
Yay for a nyrb classic, i love them. I haven't read Notes of a Crocodile though. I wonder if that's in the same sense as crocodile tears.
I'll miss the background, but I'm so excited to see your new digs Cari 🎉
It’s a perfect back up vid to watch when you’re looking for calmness.
Hello lady! I have a recommendation for you that I think you will absolutely love if you haven’t read it already! One Dark Window by Rachel
Gillig. It’s about the Kingdom of Blunder where those who succumb to this mysterious mist are put to death because they start to develop magic afterwords. Our main girl is affected and is hidden away. The only allowed magic is through these magic cards. Our girl touches one and absorbs the monster living in the card and lives with this entity in her head. Anyway, that’s all I say there is romance, adventure etc. it’s a duology!
I talk about that series a lot! Look up my monthly wrap up for the month the second one came out and then i also reviewed the first one last year :)
I’ve heard really good things about WE COULD BE SO GOOD and want to read it! I’m still pretty new to reading horror, but I’ve read more YA and Adult horror in 2022 and last year. Last year, I ended up preordering WHEN GHOSTS CALL US HOME. I read it as soon as it came out and I absolutely loved it! Wonderful YA horror! I’m glad you enjoyed it as well. It’s actually one of my comps for the YA horror I’m currently writing. 🥰
I’m so intrigued by SNOW GLOBE as well! 👀😍
omg hiiii i was patiently waiting for this 🤠🤠
Hiiii!
Biography of X was one of the best books I've ever read, I really recommend you try to pick it up again! It is dry a lot of the time but I think the ending is extremely thought provoking and I highly recommend, she also has some other great books that aren't as dense and dry to read, I'd give Pew a try!
hearing your thoughts on when ghosts call us home makes me think a lot about plain bad heroines by emily danforth. i think you would really enjoy that if you haven’t already!!
Loved the vid ✨ also, is a crescent city 3 plot summary planned?
Good morning from Australia cari! I'm gonna watch this while eating breakfast
Good morning 🥰
so excited to watch this while i cook dinner!!
🥰🥰🥰
Perfect for midnight to wind down ❤
🥰🫶
Stay True was one of my favourite reads last year.
Cariiiii❤❤❤ THE PRISONER'S THRONE🔥🔥
ahhhh im here to get more book recs !!
29:07 it seems to be a theme that I don't enjoy Holly Blacks books as much the first time I read them. The Cruel prince was kind of meh the first time and same with The Stolen Heir. When I reread them to refresh my memory for the next books I suddendly enjoyed them very much.
Every Thursday, I get home from college hoping for a cari can rea video, and I'm never disappointed
🥰🙏🥰🙏
Hi Cari 🌷🍄🌼🌻
Just wondering, would you ever do a plot summary video for caraval? For those of us who are impatient and want to just read once upon a broken heart series. 🧚🌈🌸💐💕
Yes please! I tried to get into it and the world was so interesting but I just had such a hard time staying focused so I feel like her doing a plot summary would help me line my thoughts up better
YESSS that would be sooo awesome!
@@mommybird4768 yes! Reading the synopsis I already know the story is not my thing, but the once upon a broken heart series is. And Cari said the writing in caraval isn't as good either... I know we all LOVE Cari's delivery when she does a plot summary video 🤣😂🤣
Maybe someday 🥲🙏
@@caricanreadafter mortal instruments, you're probably so over it 😂💕🧚
Cari you love dogs so much go adopt one !!❤
Get well soon Cari 💐
I just read The Stolen Heir and Prisoner’s Throne back to back and I agree with you. While I did love seeing Jude and Cardan, the POV switch was absolutely jarring. I did enjoy them both, though. I have a quick rec for you I wanted to share also! A Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland is an amazing story based on selkie lore with sapphic romance. I think you might enjoy 😊 Have a wonderful trip!
Read two books recently that I think match the vibe of this channel and I really enjoyed, "A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares" and "House of Hollow", both by Krystal Sutherland.
I recently finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah which is one of the best books ive read about WW2. It had me sobbing so much at the end! 😢 I've never read a book that romantize war? Maybe in fantasy books, but definitely not in historical fiction. Today I've started These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer. Some really lighthearted historical romance 😂❤
Okay karrie I know I spelled that wrong from the way you spell it but anyway I live in Oregon where the weather is consistently bipolar changes probably every 10 minutes however toxic soup is something I've never heard and I love that I want to kind of adopt that saying just wanted to point that out Love your channel back to the books😂
Great video! And man everyone is fighting off something. I just got better from a 48 hour head cold 💀 Get well soon!
Hi Cari, I just finished Map of Otherlands and am now onto Bride! It's been a pretty good streak for me, and I love stand alones so I will definitely be picking up HedgeWitch. Hope to see you around in the states - possible meet up 🙏🙏🙏??
Crazy to hear someone talking about the Halifax explosion. Most non- Canadians don't mention the Halifax/Dartmouth area often...lots of people don't even know we exist here in Dartmouth 🤣
I highly recommend you trying The Mousai Series by E.J. Mellow. Each book focuses on a different sister somewhat inspired by the Greek fates. This world has such a unique mythos. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
so interesting you liked the stolen heir more than prisoners' throne because I'm the opposite! I didn't connect to Wren for some reason, but I did like the episode quest. I connected more with Oak, so I think that's why I liked prisoners' throne better. I agree though, I will have to reread both...
thank you for accompanying my when i am lonely
hi friend!!! love youuu. wondering if you’re gonna do a recap vid of the third book in crescent city series 👀 coming from someone who has read none of them but whatched the vid of the first teonbooos and im now far too invested lmao ❤❤
my comfort youtuber✌🏼😌 love you cari🤍✨
Receiving notifications as soon as vids come out
Lol my husband read all of dune so any time i am curious about the story i ask him 😂😂
With The Warm Hands of Ghosts I found myself wanting longer Freddy chapters/maybe wishing there was a 3rd pov? I was also so sure that the antagonist was supposed to be a kind of modern version of the main antagonist from the winternight trilogy (it's not, but in my heart they were 😅) I wanted to love it, and I do think it's a really good book, I just went in with too many assumptions and expectations
Hi! Love the content. If you are ever looking for a book series to do another video along the Crave ones, the Significance series by Shelly Crane will have you absolutely DYING
I’m so excited to pick up You Could Be So Lucky! Its definitely moved up on my ARC list after your recommendation. If you’re wanting to read some more baseball books I highly recommend K T Hoffman’s The Prospects. It’s got a trans main character, queer romance, and a whole lot of joy.
I've been on the fence about reading Silver Under Nightfall, so I am very curious about your thoughts when you finish it!
I will review it in my next monthly wrap up but definitely wasnt a fav 🥲🥲
You should check out Cat Sebastian's The Cabots series. Peter Cabot Gets Lost is my favorite book by her, just vibes and nothing else.
plz read boys of tommen, it wrecked my heart!
i loved The Hedgewitch of Foxhall? Omg i screamed softly. So sweet.
Yes! I think she could have worked it a little more and made it a fantastic book but im happy with what it was 🥰🥰
Hiii! Do you plan on reading the Green Bone Saga, The Realm of the Elderings, The Broken Earth Trilogy, The Faithful and the Fallen, etc? I would love to hear your opinion on these adult fantasy books! ❤
I heard you saying "this might be our last video" and my heart skipped a beat before I heard the rest of the sentence
Perfect timing!! To watch while eating dinner
Bon appetit hehehe
Hi I love your channel and seeing all your book recommendations! Definitely inspires me to read more and provides ideas of what I would enjoy based on your wonderful reviews : )
Just wanted to ask if you have read 'Spark of the Everflame' by Penn Cole. I've read the first three books and couldn't put them down. Would highly recommend.
Pleaseeeee read the grandmaster of demonic cultivation!!! It's a Chinese danmei and it's my favourite series everrrrr
I’m with you about prisoners throne I think I would have liked it more if it had been told from Wren’s POV. I just didn’t find Oak as compelling. It def threw me off. Still fun though!
Definitely!!
I’m sending you love❤❤
Thr Seven Year Slip was good The Book That Would Not Burn is all 5 stars
