    *CCD Sensor History;
    The CCD was invented in 1969 at Bell Labs by Willard Boyle and George Smith. Since that CCD was sensitive to light it was used as image sensor for video and TV cameras. It could also be used as a memory device or analogue signal delay since it's principally a kind of analogue shift-register circuit.
    It's not the camera that makes a great photo, it's the photographer that TAKES a great photo.

    There it is; the Nikon D50! Produces absolutely gorgeous pictures, and my first experience with the early Digtial Nikon. I was stunned this "old tech" camera could produce pics equal to newer, more sophisticated cameras.

    Nikon CCD is the reason I never got rid of my D100 and D200 bodies. Now you got me thinking of picking up one of these or the D80 for a light weigh everyday carry along.
    Great tips on the light mods.

    I had a nikon f100 early 2000s, the cost of the nikon dslr where prohibitive for me at the time. I bought one recently for not a lot, fully checked and under a 6 month warranty. It will take my lenses and i’ll still be able to use the autofocus from back in the day, ideal for me

    My first digital camera and it saved me when shooting a wedding/reception in a hall with black walls and mirrors. No glare, no sweat. It also takes my manual Nikon lenses. I still use it for personal use. Good tools always make pictures easier to take.

      can I get film like images with the d50? I see it online for a total of $71 on mpb. And was thinking of getting a 50 1.8 ai-s lens to go with it. Lmk whatcha think? Overall total cost would be $170 (separate purchases) but the body for $71 includes battery, battery charger, 6 month warranty, 2 year protection for $10 @@CarmineTavernaPhotography

    I have an update on using these older ccd cameras. I took a test shot at ISO 1600 with the D50. I processed the raw file in a trial version of the latest DXO Pure Raw software. To say I was stunned might be an understatement. Zero noise and amazing pixel sharpness without an over processed or waxy look. Several more shots of a colorful local filling station at lower ISO’s were even more impressive. I don’t work for DXO but I am planning on purchasing this software when my trial ends. Never did I think I could get such clarity and quality from an 18 year old digital camera.

    I've got the body with a Nikon 50mm f1.8 G.... The body cost me £20. Lens was new at £90.
    I've always wondered why the images are so deep in colour and so film like... it feels good and shoots good for a 19-year-old camera. I was going to buy a new camera. But now I'm going to dig it out and give it another go. Thanks.

    Well I have my new $49 D50 cleaned up like new and running. I did have to wait for some small 2gb cards as it won’t work with anything bigger. A Sigma 24 mm 2.8 I had hanging around makes a great compact 35mm equiv. Perfect for my style of general shooting.
    BTW using latest tech the file enlarge quite nicely 4000 on the long end with no noticeable degradation. Appreciate your efforts here Carmine.

    I am devastated Carmine my D 90s shutter failed during a family event shoot. I thought about trying to fix it myself but looked frightening in videos I watched. Found a shop to fix it with new parts and they said will clean and do any adjustments.I know I could get a used one for less but could be back in same boat. Seems like the shutter gear failed after doing some research. I have other cameras and a z 50 but the 90 is my baby. Do you think 167.00 is a fair price?Thank you Carmine

    Instead of buying an old camera with a CCD sensor can't I just adjust the colors in my Olympus Om-D to emulate Kodachrome? If so is there any sites that will list the settings? By the way I live on Staten Island and have seen some of your photos you've taken here.

    • @CarmineTavernaPhotography
      @CarmineTavernaPhotography  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      CCD SENSORS compared to CMOS SENSORS are physically different. No adjustments of a CMOS sensor will have the emotional quality of a CCD.
      **CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors are usually more susceptible to noise.
      Because each photosite on a CMOS sensor has several transistors located next to it, the light sensitivity of a CMOS chip tends to be lower, as many of the photons hit the transistors instead of the photosite.
