  • UPDATE: I cannot recommend this product. After a year, it started leaking, it could not be fixed. I ended up buying the round dome Vertuo machine and it has been rock solid for going on 2 years so far!
    UPDATE: So far after using for a month. I have had no issues with the machine. No leaks, nice hot coffee. The only "issue" is as I showed in the video, wiping out the cup when some water drips while the machine is warming up. Brews a delicious coffee.
    Hi! When I was looking to buy a Vertuo line machine I was concerned about reviews stating that the coffee wasn't hot. I post this review in hopes that it helps you make a good decision. The model is the Next Deluxe Dark Chrome. Basically the only difference between any of the Next models is the finish. FYI, when I brewed the same size cup with a heated mug, I got max 2 degrees higher temp. If you use cream or milk it would be worth pre-heating your mug. For black coffee drinkers the temperature is sufficient.

    I watched a lot of revirws before I bought mine. And all I heard about the next was problems. Not huge problems but bothersome problems. And I thought if I’m going to spend this amount of money on this, I think I would want the plus. And Costco had a deal on it. Where you get the machine, the frother, the starter pack of pods, 30 additional pods, plus a $40 off coupon on your first order.

    I agree with your concern at 2:32 about the standing water in the capsule holder… I wonder if it’s more sanitary to open the top of the machine right after making the coffee so the capsule goes straight in the bin hot and water doesn’t pool up in the capsule holder?? Does anybody know FOR SURE what the best practice is for this THIS MACHINE???
    Also, if that’s the case, after making a coffee and flipping the spent capsule should I just push the top down or lock it WITHOUT A VERTUO Capsule? I wonder if not locking it all the way makes a difference in terms of airflow / evaporation when not in use???? Let me know!

    I just bought this machine after having an amazing machine that the original size capsules for about 15 years! So far I like the new size capsules (vertuo size) and this machine but I do think the coffee ☕️ isn’t as hot as I expected - especially after adding a refrigerated creamer. QUESTION: Does THIS machine itself have a way to adjust the temperature of the coffee?? LMK - Thanks!!

    • @PracticalWhimsy54
      @PracticalWhimsy54  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. Unfortunately not. What you can do is preheat the creamer and brew the coffee into it.

      It's nothing to worry about. It's just likely some of the water left in the tube that ejects when it is heating up. I just wipe it out.

    I just had ours and was wondering - in the receptacle for used pods, do see any leaks there. I just did the initial rinse cycle (just got it today), and noticed that a wee bit if water leaked to the receptacle. I am a little worried I got a defective one. I’m sure no early user would notice this but since my year-old vertuoplus had leaking problems (thus the replacement and a different model), I was extra cautious about it.

    • @PracticalWhimsy54
      @PracticalWhimsy54  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it is normal to get some coffee/water in the drip receptacle. Just make sure to rinse it out every few days to keep everything fresh.

      @@PracticalWhimsy54 is your machine still working until now? Planning on purchasing one because there's a bundle with the Aeroccino 3, but I am worried that its not as durable as the original line. It seems most of the reviews I have watched experienced issues with the Next machine. How's the water inside the pod holder? Is it okay now?
      Sorry for the questions and the long comment.

    • @PracticalWhimsy54

      @@lanalana7561 So far so good! I am not worried about the water in the pod holder as I swipe it out with paper towel. I also gently wipe down around the seal every time I am finished as well as a weekly run through clean.

    Well I should have listened to everyone. Next is a piece of Crap. Mine leaked coffee all over the counter and then forevermore refused to read the barcode. Tried cleaning it. Pulled it apart and the inside was wet from coffee. Thew it out. Past warranty.

      @PracticalWhimsy54  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm Mine does not smell... I do wipe it out with paper towel each time. I also make sure I run the clean cycle weekly and then wipe it out. I have discovered that the water comes when the pre-heat water cycle is on.

    I’ve had the original line for almost 20 years. How do you compare the original line coffee versus the new line ?

    • @PracticalWhimsy54
      @PracticalWhimsy54  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the VL (Vertuo aka new line) for what I call "real coffee". There IS a difference between espresso grinds and coffee grind and the coffee produced by the Next is lovely and rich. I prefer the OL for the espresso variety and better crema. The OL also has great offerings of Lungo pods compared to the VL. Where the VL machine shines imo is the brewing of coffee and the cost savings for using double espresso pod vs using 2 pods with the OL for milk creations.

    • @malankaraorthodox71
      @malankaraorthodox71 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shani Cochrane Thanks. This is very helpful. Yes, today I end up using two OL pods for a large coffee. I’ll check out the VL.

    • @PracticalWhimsy54
      @PracticalWhimsy54  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it very different. It is a totally different brewing process. OL has bar pressure brewing, VL has that centrifugal thing going on. I find that OL tastes a lot more like "real espresso" but the VL is also really nice and smooth. I like both for different purposes. OL for lungos and espressos, and VL for full sized coffee and gran lungos!

    • @PracticalWhimsy54

      I believe, from what I have observed that the water is generated when I first push the button to wake it up, it seems that a small amount is released from the puncture valve that may be left in the tubes from the previous brew. If I open the lid early I notice a few drips from the needle. After a short while it stops. Not enough to really bother me tbh.
