bumped into lindsay after one of her shows and after she shook my hand and my friend and I were way too high to come up with a response, and now shes super famous and I am forced to re-live that award moment frequently
I love Snail Mail, and honestly, I'm surprised on how bad this performance is, since I've seen her live in other video's and shes simply great. Something definitely was off with her and the band. All you need to do is watch one of her other performances to see that they are talented
I love this band and have done for a while, saw her twice, the first time incredible. The second time was like this. I'm sorry but this sounds like a shreds performance.
I just wish that she would have a good rest and improve her breathing techniques. She seems to struggle so much in hitting certain notes in most of their live performances. There's so much potential in this band, will definitely love to see them for the next 20 years.
look at performances of this song on their current tour! besides a big change in aesthetics / maturing, voice changing and stuff, lindsey had vocal trauma, got surgery, and also has seen a coach. i think she looks like she's having a better time up there too
Just saw her a month ago and they have improved so dramatically over the course of this tour. everything about the performance i saw was exceptional and often times stronger than the studio version
I've been listening to her for several months now and have really loved this band. For the benefit of those who have posted certain negative remarks as to Lindsey's vocal performance at this particular concert, as a long time D.J and V.J who played for years at private parties in Hollywood, California, I TOTALLY get what she is doing. She is brilliantly and adroitly taking on a number of Moody voices and even styles in "Heatwave" to match the somber tone of the song itself. "I'm feeling low. I'm not in to sometimes." My God, at one point she remains me of Janis Joplin. Kurt Cobaine sometimes gave a similar style of interpretation when singing his "On a Plain" live.
JessDurden I don’t think money hungry is the right word for this, you have to realize that this is her career and she has to make a living off of this right?
@@gabriel3912 If we take what the first person said - she doesnt put on a great show because shes overworked then construction business should make houses faster and badly because that way they make a profitable business? Its a bad strategy, the singing is awful, if youd pay for a guy to make you a sandwich and he would do the equivalent of this show youd be pissed off and never come back
yeah. she always perform at night and flight to another places the day after and perform at the same night... wondering which idiot planned this horrible scheduled....
Why don't you get it? She's just doing what we all forgot, she makes the real perfomance on the stage. Different sound, singing... Do you know Kurt Cobain did smth similar? Relisten, revise and remember.
This makes me really really sad. She’s been touring for so long now it must be exhausting, and it really really shows. For those of you that think she’s not actually good at singing, only good in the studio. It’s not true, she just may have damaged her voice after touring to two straight years. Watch this th-cam.com/video/21ix1OwPoY8/w-d-xo.html
Idk why everyone is being so critical here, it's live music... it ain't gonna sound like the recording. Even though I'm not really a fan of their music style, it's pretty generic to me, I thought they brought energy to the performance. Let's see all the people in here saying it's terrible get on stage and perform...
It's not that it doesn't sound like the recording - it just didn't used to sound like this. I've seen her 6 times live now and she never sounded like this with the elongated notes and or whatever its called she's doing. I'm not shitting on her either: Love the band, I'm just not sure what happened to the vocal delivery.
Seasoned Skeptic As far as I know she’s a proud woman, bitch. Who do you think you are, my boy, a fucking rambling country doctor? Keep an eye out for those trembling bridges at midnight tho.
To everyone calling her an industry plant and somehow implying that she had connections which helped her in the industry therefore makes her untalented is daft, even if she was a plant (she ain’t) it doesn’t mean shit for her music, legendary bands like the strokes, vampire weekend, weezer and many more are industry plants by every sense of the word but I don’t see many people shitting on their music because of the fact, SCRAM!
i guess the problem is in not being too much of a great artist and being celebrated by the industry as some sort of """music savior""", it's not the case of the bands you mentioned ... she clearly has talent as a singer-songwriter but could have used a few more years to develope her music/artistic vision, but music publications really wanted to sell the band as a indie music phenomenon or something..."future of indie rock" etc etc people have the right to say that's just wrong bruhhh...
DJ Suéter oh yeah that’s fair, honestly i agree more than i disagree with that sentiment, I’m just not a fan of the “no talent” comments and shit like that when it’s obviously false
Hunter J an industry plant is in this case a band of who the music industry signed only out of a drive only to appeal to a certain demographic, weezer makes great music (mostly) but they would not have achieved the level of success they did if they didn’t have the backing and constant marketing of a major label

she really seems to struggle live. she is a great writer and her guitar playing is tight when thats all she is doing, but she cant sing and play in time, and she struggles to hit the right notes with her voice and does these long climbing bends so she can hear when she is in tune. the band needs to practice with someone there to coach her. Ive seen people saying this is just this performance, but i cant find a performance of this song that even comes close to sounding as tight as the record. and this song is so groovy that without the right tempo or even a consistent tempo, it falls apart

why am i the only snail mail fan that likes this performance i think i'm just that hard core of a fan that i love everything she does oof
like it too. Its sloppy in a feel good way.
Fully agree. An artist leaning into a messy performance to make it truly unique. Ever had a rough night? this band wrote a song about it.
I like the almost terrible vocals on other performances of this song, but she (and didn't) hit some really rough notes in this.
Lindsey! your voice... you are reminding me of the time i witnessed a cat die in the middle of the road... such a terrible sound
maya sparkles…
Realizing I’m not gonna see them for governors ball this year makes me cryyyy
bruh i love snail mail sm but lindsey’s voice my goodness she needs to spend less time climbing and just hit the damn note
Its not the best here 🥲

I thought the same too
Bruh needs to get off the road and get to filming season 3.
when will she finally realize that they are playing too slow live?
Lol. It fits their name, snaillllll. btw its rly painful to hear their slow live, I experienced before....
I think she was waiting for the bassist to tune up (look at the right side of the screen)
