Why doesn't anybody mention this girl's shredding ability? She has a great fluid lead guitar style. Also I think the tempo shifts are just their shtick, I've seen multiple live videos of them and it seems like they like to ritard the choruses for maximum impact.. not that uncommon. The vocals could be better, but she's going for that 90's disaffected slacker youth sound, so a lot of it is just her style.
Kris Miller the people complaining are the same ones who listen to all this auto tune crap.
Because people should educate themselves and listen to bands like Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets, Pavement, The Vaselines and Sonic Youth. Music is not just about singing.
her free-styling ability is soooo good
Just saw them live tonight in Paris and they totally killed it! This song was played with so much energy from her and the rest of the band. Touring can be tough on artists/lead singers so this Pitchfork performance doesn't reflect at all her capacity to deliver a beautiful rendition of this song live 💛
I think this performance was pretty good, her voice sounds raspy and cracky but I like it cause it gives the song some character!

Feel the need to comment that I saw her in Philly a week ago and the difference was night and day. She was amazing live. This must have been a weird show for her.

Love her music however tour looks like it’s been rough
I suppose she was exhausted back then, but the tired vocal style is actually cool. There's some sort of disconnection between the instrumental and the vocals that is entrancing
I love her, I love the album, I don't think I want to see her live now...I can't imagine how rigorous tour must be but this sure gives me some insight.

The band sound kinda tired but her voice sounds better here than on any other performance I can find. No bum notes, plenty of honest character.

I'm sorry I love this band's Album so much, but she needs to work sastaning her voice on Tours. she went to New Hampshire, and everything was good but the voice... I'm sorry I love Lindsey and she has such a bright future ahead of her, just she's got some work to do

Music isn't just singing, educate yourselves and listen to bands like Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets, The Vaselines or Sonic Youth. If you wanna listen to generic perfect singing go back to mainstream pop.

Why do they change their tempo so much for shows? I loved their audiotree session and the tiny desk show they did, but all the live performances from this album cycle have been kinda meh

I love this song and thought the album was great...but I think I share in the sentiment that this performance was atrocious. The tempo is all over the place, just zero sense of cohesion, and no passion. Touring is hard, but I've seen a lot of bands live and they all seemed to have their shit together.

@@captainfyeah True. I remember having a hard time with getting into them. Now I love listening to Jefferson Airplane, Shocking Blue, Siouxie and the Banshees.. modern bands like CHVCHES, Savages, Sleater-Kinney, Honeyblood, and Best Coast.
I'd say if you can't get into ANY of those ladies, then it's just not for you lol!
@@koreypaul6698 Jefferson Airplane and Siouxie and the Banshees are great, they never annoy me. Best Coast can be okay sometimes but her voice doesn't really strike a nerve but may the music never really appealed to me. I think what annoys me about Snail Mail is the way she annunciates words so heavily and drags them out, if you get what I mean. Very posh, hollywood accent.
