Enjoy!
only one person could cover this song as perfectly as he did. rip warren zevon and jerry garcia.
Perfectly imperfect. ❤
The hurt gets worse and the heart gets harder. 17 years ago and the pain is still there!
only guy with the heart, skill and soul to pull this off. truly awesome.
"Never thought I'd have to pay so dearly for what was already mine"....
Wish there was a guitar track to it too, but the vocals are exquisite. Rip to you both, my most favorite rock and roll heroes....
no need for a guitar track, jerr is on the piano on this take
Big Steve said on his show that this was an impromptu thing with him on drums and Bob Matthews (RIP) on bass.
it's taken me a long time to accept anyone covering Zevon, but this is great cover totally Jerry, so awesome.
Never knew Jerry covered this. My favorite song from a great album! Maybe Jerry & Warren are working up some new arrangements. I think the Dead broke out Werewolves in CO around '78
He didn’t cover it per se. this is from the vault and I believe Big Steve is playing drums. This was just for fun. ❤
I cry every time...
Love this! Thanks all! I'm guessing "...Roses" era on this, but I could be off. Great number. Like how "stripped down" the recording is. Great Jerry vocal. Fragile.
Love it! Thanx for posting!!
Never get's old
first time i heard this and would also like to hear more from all good things
Whoa! Never heard this! Thanks so much. nice little treat here. Missed out on this box set.
beautiful song.
Wow, thanks,Sara:)
WOW!
Never gets old
Love This.
@muffinfluff420 Of course! Is there anything in particular you'd like to hear?
That's him.
This is it
Are you sure this is 1977? Zevon's official version didn't come out til 78. There were earlier demo versions, but I wonder if Garcia had heard them that early.
nope it makes sense it is 1978 not 77 cuz garcias voice was going if he did this in 77 it would have the air under his voice instead of it giving out
good meds brother or sister thanks blessit be
@WarrenZevonAddict
Have you heard the version on TH-cam by Hartle, Cooper, Sofranko & Brown?
@what1111000 that would be epically amazing, pleases let me know if anyone ever forwarded that to you.
Fuckin A. perfect
@muffinfluff420 It's on both :) I'll get a video together for ya.
Either I'd completely forgotten -- or maybe never knew -- that Jerry'd covered this.
But I definitely do remember seeing that he'd recorded at least one Zevon song...
So is this the only one he did, or is there at least one other?
Thank you so much for uploading this.

WILCO
HORRIBLE .
This was written by Warren Zevon, and don't you dead heads forget it. Warren's version kicks this one's ass, hardcore. Is this even in tune?
Oh get off your high horse you grumpy ass old turd
Yeah okay Ryan you little millenial pc half a sissy
Mike Atkins its about the ony cover he did that wasnt better than the original
Mike, Warren's version is beautiful, no doubt! This was on an additional disc that accompanied a Garcia box set. It was simply a studio/rehearsal with Garcia on keys, probably just trying it on. So, it's a bit rough, but Jerry's voice is pretty sweet in spots. I would've loved this to have been polished up and in the JGB repertoire with Jerry on his guitar. It's a cool little snap shot of Jerry covering a great Zevon tune.
Yup, he did slay most covers! Waiting for a miracle is a really good Bruce Cockburn song, but it's a fucking great Garcia song.
