I worked with Jerry. The beauty of his art reflects the real person. That was his message, and that's why we all relate. No fluff, no BS, just the real deal. We miss you Jerry, but we all will meet again. Thank God for the recording studio backstage at the request of Jerry. ;-) It was an honor working with the Dead, true historic days in music that can never be surpassed. There were days on that stage that were so electric, you felt lift off was inevitable. When they were on: magic.
Too cool man. Wish I was back there with you. And, would have been lucky enough to be out front. Those shows were so far gone I could just melt. The feeling is still alive, and I say that on a bright horizon and a new day The Grateful Dead will never disappoint or fade away. The memory travels on from generation to generation just like it is supposed to brother! Peaceful travels, and mean people suck
The soul that oozes out from this performance is hauntingly brilliant. Garcia took Dylan's writing to the next level. The Kahn/Garcia acoustic (1-31-86) Simple twist of Fate is one of my favorites. It would be awesome if someone of love and skill would tab this for us.
There is no 'next level' to Dylans writing, it is already ultimate,....this awkward and tedious version by the most over rated leader of an over hyped aptly named band , is even inferior to some versions by unknowns that can be heard online.
I know it's 2 years late but I just saw this and as a sixty-year-old bipolar I feel your brother hope all is well and as South Woodside replied definitely go with Jesus he's my best friend
Garcias' solo acoustic shows at the Capital Theatre in Passaic, NJ are legendary. I never heard a better solo acoustic guitar player in my life at 66 yrs, now. Luckily, Garcias' solo acoustic shows from the Capital Theater are uploads on TH-cam. Great stuff! RIP JERRY GARCIA ❤ ✝️
Jerry is the most emotional, heartfelt and purely soulful honest creator of musical art that I have ever been blessed to see perform live. Even if you didn't have the fortune to see him play, it is easy to feel the magic just listening to recordings. I get goosebumps every time I hear some of his masterpieces.
Jerry was a person that could tap into the highest highs we all can experience and love, but he could also take us to true darkness as well. Sometimes I feel the black spaces he went to very acutely...This is one of the darkest.
Jerry was a unique and special soul. Didn't have a great voice, but a great singer, not a virtuoso instrumentalist, but a great musician. Most importantly, he brought us peace, love, and happiness with his music, which is the best a musician can do - no?
What you couldn't hear the pain in his voice? Even if it wasn't his own pain. His performance of this song is amazing. Don't get all bent because I wrote it as Jerry. I don't normally do that. But who cares. It was complimentary.
Yeah, I don't normally pretend to be Jerry, but sometimes I like to. I am still shocked to this day I was able to get this user name. I couldn't even get Geddy Lee. If you love the Grateful Dead, then you are cool and I certainly meant no harm.
Dylan cranked this out just ahead of the Blood on the Tracks period. Darkest doubts about his purpose and where he's going. Hope rising up from his family - "you'll be fine". Jerry brought us to the window for a peak into the mans dark place.
this tastes like just the right photo for this song's darkness -- back to the corner, on the floor, but relaxed+smiling his music helped remind me to keep a smile inside real by facing open-eyed the real darknesses outside I rarely rerun the tunes+memories of his music the past few years, & that mostly to point others to this or that there ... but the blessings in the lessons still flow deep inside w/o need of further refreshment it seems. what a gift to give
There isn't much that moves my soul more than Jerry does.
Right

deadtour1 what was your job with Jerry? I bet you have some great stories
I can hear you Buddy , even in the snowbanks of Canada .
@Terry Eugene why do you say that?

Jerry Garcia, greatest musical figure in history.
Jerry and Dylan had endless respect for each other.
The “attaboy Jerry” guy at the beginning cracks me up, everytime.

yes please
Garcia shreds SENIOR into DEAL!
Superb

Haven't seen Jerry or a Dead show since 1988. Love Jerry more today than ever before.
Love all of you too.
Thank you. 😊
I'm going through rough depression and heartbreak. This is what I needed today. Thank you
Look to Jesus, Sergey, he pulls me out of depression, intense depression, but you have to make some effort.

This is hauntingly moving. Jerry reaches for that deep chord within.

angelachayce best ever
Music mountain 1982, South fallsburgh, NY saw him there. He did the night they drove old Dixie down it was awesome.
I took this picture climbing outside of Tucson , and I didnt care what happened next.
This is brilliant. The world disappeared for a few minutes.
i agree, and would like to add, he takes us to the dark places in a very delicate way...like two arms holding you through it.
emily whiteass perfectly worded
Closest I can compare is too my father.. truly Poppa Bear. Especially as I get older and further away from the memory of my old man..
Well said
I sure miss seeing this man play.
Jerry was a person that could tap into the highest highs we all can experience and love, but he could also take us to true darkness as well. Sometimes I feel the black spaces he went to very acutely...This is one of the darkest.
Jerry's picking just feels good in your head.
Can’t beat this
Love jerry
Bob Dylan wrote alot of great songs and Garcia put the icing on the cake.
Jerry was a unique and special soul. Didn't have a great voice, but a great singer, not a virtuoso instrumentalist, but a great musician.
Most importantly, he brought us peace, love, and happiness with his music, which is the best a musician can do - no?
he was all those things and more. I find him soothing.
Dylan planted the seeds but Garcia was the one who nurtured them to their fullest potential.
My first time hearing this gem thanks
When I performed this song I felt like my soul was aching. A great tune man. Dylan. One of the great poets.
Jerry was great

Jerry Garcia Fair enough I say
Yeah, I don't normally pretend to be Jerry, but sometimes I like to. I am still shocked to this day I was able to get this user name. I couldn't even get Geddy Lee.
If you love the Grateful Dead, then you are cool and I certainly meant no harm.
Of course - big fan....
Quand Garcia jouait Dylan il était vraiment mais alors vraiment extraordinaire
oh man I forgot this tune until now, the words cut so deep so long after our loss of Jerry
i listen to this everyday
A new one to me...Jerry had soul too spare...and then some!
Fabulous

This is lovely in its simplicity. Thank you for posting.
and the tears start ..

Yep, it's on "Planet Waves". Such a gorgeous song.

Went there many times to wait in line for concert tickets. Loved that theater.

Great Bob cover as good as Bob did it ,n I don't say that OFTEN
cheryl postlethwaite
This is one of the few I believe Jerry did better!
@@maine420247 agreed
Great cover of an old Dylan song!
right up there with richard hell's version !
wolakootah !
Oh, swoon....
Hey yall
Awesome cover, but nothing beats the Dylan original
I actually like this better
@@RyderLost I second that
Jerry/Merl's version from september 1st 1974 is the best version of this song, for me.
IS HE A HIPPIE???.4
Dylan is more big when Jerry cover his songs
