You just have to peel like 50 layers of that onion to reach it... and he'd never let you, because being vulnerable would be synonymous with giving you control, making him relive his greatest traumas. He wouldn't show vulnerability now that he can, and will, choose to protect himself from public humiliation. He's such a heartbreaking character.
