Guys I’m 20 and I’m gonna be on pointe someday. Don’t give up hope! There are more adults starting ballet than you know. Besides, many of us had parents who disapproved or who were otherwise not in the position to allow us to take classes. Why should that stop us as grown-ups? 💖
I am 14 and I have been taking ballet for two years now! I can see so much improvement in myself since my first ballet class! I am currently taking private ballet lessons from a family friend who is a professional ballet teacher and it has been really fun! I am not on pointe yet and I'm not sure when I will be lol (however, I can almost perfectly do all the exercises in this video lol) but being in pointe is one of my dreams!! I can't wait for that glorious day when I get my first pair!!💞😊💕
that is so awesome! ive been doing ballet for about 8 months now (since quarantine started) but im trained in jazz, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop, but ballet always scared me so i quit when i was 6 or 7. I got 5/6 of these pretty much down, i just need to work on balance. im in 8th grade right now, and my goal is to be en pointe by the time i graduate highschool! so far im having a lot of fun though!
I’m 24 and did ballet 2-16 was on pointe before I stopped . I just went back to ballet and thought I wasn’t ready but after this video I was reassured I was ready I got fitted for pointe shoes again and can’t wait for class this Saturday !!!
Just got my first pair of pointe shoes last week at 13. This video (I think) helped me be prepared and helped me be able to focus on things I was doing poorly and I was able to correct them. I’m so excited to start my pointe journey and I give my thanks to you!
My dance teacher just told me last week that I can start wearing pointe shoes! I’ve been working hard for the past 2 years and I’m surprised my teacher said I can start so soon. I’ve going on 4 years of dancing now, but Im going into my 3rd year of ballet. My appointment for my first fitting is soon and I’m soo nervous! I started doubting myself so I found this video and I’m more confident now😁 my balance, my posture, my strength, it’s all really good. Though I have a flat foot so arching is much harder for me, but I’m working hard with my teacher. To all those who want to do pointe or are going into pointe like me, you go this! 5 years ago I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me I’d be where I am today in my dance journey.
I think I am ready. Or really soon! The studio I go to, my teacher says we have to be 13, and she gives us incredible things to do before pointe so we are 100% ready! So thankful for that and it will allow me to be ready for pointe very soon! Can't wait, thank you for this awesome video!!!
I went on pointe when I was 11 and I was barely ready....can't imagine how bad it would have been if I had gone on pointe even a year earlier, let alone at 8 or 9 like some insane studios! I haven't been on pointe in forever (like, over a decade), I wonder how it would feel now. I passed the quiz but I remember having to do soooooo many eleves and my calves would just die now 😂
Lol my dance studio makes us wait till we are like 17 and I am only twelve but it’s my dream to get on pointe . I am very sad about it but what can you do
im 10 and one of my teachers said that hopefully by the next summer ill be on pointe- (ill be 11 in march) so yeah but i have very flexible and strong ankles and im the top of my class with technique and im definitely going to take it slow when i get them and make sure to take care of myself
Dropped out of ballet bc I was too freaked out after reading about pointe injuries, and now I wish I hadn't! Really good points though on articulation and balance. Recently restarted adult ballet and am quickly realising how important balance and core muscles are--but also I'm loving it! Thanks for these vids:)
I am 11 and I have been taking ballet for 9 years now! I can see so much improvement in myself since my first ballet class! it has been really fun! I am not on pointe yet -however, I can perfectly do all the exercises in this video- but being in pointe is one of my dreams!! my ballet teacher said ill be on point bye this July cant wait eek.!
Ok, as a beginner (mature 😂) adult I am stoked to pass these tests. However, I need a LOT more actual ballet before pointe is even on the radar. I have spent a lifetime exercising barefoot and accidentally doing doming and toe swapping exercises for fun. Lots more work to do on turnout and unlocking tight hip muscles too.
I aced it! I am in a pre pointe class and was just told that I would get my pointe shoes! The foot articulation is what my teacher always talks about, she brings it up before our tendu routine.
I am exactly 12 and I could achieve 5 of them. I guess i need to work harder on foot articulation as my legs seem too stiff. Thankyou so much for posting all your videos. I have ever learnt ballet before and now I practise it everyday with ur videos ☺
Thanks for this :) My teacher told me I was ready to get fitted but I felt kinda worried that I wasn’t strong enough since I’ve always felt like everyone in my class is stronger than me. I’m ready though 😊 I get fitted in 2 days!
I haven’t ever taken a ballet class but I’m just, so extremely interested in ballet. I’ve started to try practicing, I’m having fun but wooo feet and back pain. I’m gonna practice more and more and I’ll try to get pointe shoes later on. I’m 13, turning 14 in 2 weeks. So I’m tryin my hardest. I’m lucky I have decent strength. ^^
I’ve been doing ballet for almost 2 years now and I love it. I have only taken it for one hour every week because I have jazz hip hop and tap as well. I’m thinking of getting more serious with ballet because I am really falling in love with it lately. I am going to talk with my teacher about getting private lessons set up and I really want to go on pointe! Do you think I can make it?
I just ordered my first pair of Demi pointe shoes. Because I have been in and out of different areas (jazz, ballet, gymnastics, cheer, Arial silks, figure skating, etc) due to moving or lack of money, I really want to make sure I won’t hurt myself since I really only have TH-cam and my Gigi (she was a cheer captain and then cheer and dance mom for about 20 years but she is not a teacher) to help me, I want to make sure I won’t injure myself. I stretch and stretch and stretch constantly and I’m going to be spending a few years in Demi pointe unless I am able to get cleared by a ballet teacher and started getting supervision. Still, even getting Demi pointe is a dream come true. I’ve been fighting for ballet specifically since I can remember. I’m 16 btw.
Yay! I am getting my new pointe shoes next week! I have done ballet since I was little but I never got to where I was old enough for pointe and then took a break for a few years but now that I am into it again I am so excited to go en pointe!
I don't do ballet (took beginner classes once a week for a year, long time ago) and only very ocassionally do sports, but I could do all of these without any trouble. I did start walking on high heels at a very young age and tend to stand on my toes when I'm barefoot without being aware, its an automatism (my calves are quite short due to the heels). Figured that might be why I passed the test.
I started when I was 9/10... pointe shoes never really hurt my feet until I got my 3rd pair when I turned twelve, which was the summer before 7th grade (my age rn, but I started school, and I had the other 2 pairs of pointe shoes for a full year each, only did like 20 mins of pointe for each class every week and there are two classes per week though) and that's the first time my shoes felt less comfortable. The big toe on my left foot hurt more (I put part of a cotton ball in for more cushion and it really helped but made the shoe feel smaller). It was also a different brand and harder than my previous shoes. Since I'm currently 12 I've aced the test pretty easily but then again I've been on pointe for 3 years and going. I heard at some point at a different studio that you should have done ballet for at least 5 years before getting pointe shoes (which meant I would have started 1 year ago if I didn't switch studios, not for the same reason). Back when I had gotten my 1st pair of shoes I had only been dancing for 3 years (I'm in my 6th year right now) so I didn't necessarily fit that rule which I was kind of worried about when I got my 1st pair. Luckily my pointe shoes were fitted nicely and I haven't had many problems. The ones that I have now are the ones that are a different brand than the others and harder than what I was used to back when I had my first and 2nd pairs. I have had my 3rd pair for 3 months and I can't tell if they are dead or not. They are a lot easier to go up on and my toe doesn't hurt anymore. It also fits my foot and feels better which is normal because my pointe shoes change to the shape of my feet. They are pretty broken in but I can't tell if I'm going over them or not. My teacher looked at them and didn't necessarily say they were dead but she also didn't say they weren't dead, so I'm not sure. I can still dance in them pretty nicely though.
I am 12 and have been doing ballet since I was 2. I have only been at my current studio for a year but our teacher is really nice and I hope he will let me.
miss auti i want to work on my core so for your next video may you please do an ab workout and leg and arm workout as these are vital in ballet. LOVE YOU
Loved this video! I’m already on pointe I just love this channel! Also could you make a video in the future in how to improve hyperextention? Sometimes my knees look bent. 💖🩰
I’m almost 20 and I really want to learn how to dance on pointe! I’ve been researching how difficult it might be to start dancing at an older age (because most ballerinas start REALLY young), and it seems like most people can eventually train themselves to a good enough degree to dance. I wish us luck!
Thanks so much on this video this video helps especially if I want to be on point eventually in the future always wanted to do it even if point is hard.
I’m disabled and somehow fell into ballet algorithm… I have a severe hypermobility disorder. However, I have really strong legs because I can’t drive, so I walk everywhere (and public transport). Stunned to have passed every component in this quiz except for the stability! I’m going to look into barre classes. Thank you!!
What makes me happy is that years and years ago someone posted a video like this (Except it made no since and the things to “work on” were wrong😑) and I got all like 10 of them perfectly. I was 7 I think😂 But now this one I understand and with my skill level in ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary, and tap, I’m ready for pointe shoes!
thanks for this video. i started ballet 4 , 5 months ago and my teacher said she wanted me to test to go into the next level (i passed) and now it’s time for point shoes !!!
Yayyyy!!! I passed the test!!!! And even better.... I will get my firts pair THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!! I'm 13 by the way. Loved the test! : ) ⚠️UPDATE: I got my first pair!!! I have been using them like for a month and I love it!!
I'm 13, I've been dancing since I was 4. I'm pretty sure that when covid lets us go back to the studio I'm gonna get my pointe shoes, in quarantine I've been working out the things that were lacking, now I feel much more confident
Hi I love this video! It heed me so much I did all of these and I could do it and I got pointe shoes and lessons and it was the best decision I ever made! Love your videos!
My teacher said we’ll be going on pointe once we finish learning all of our grade 5 work :D I’m so excited as I’ve been waiting for this for everrrrr aaaa
i just got back to dancing last year after 5-6 years i think but i would say im learning a lot more that what i remember when i was little also those rising exercises are really good my friend did those and got pointe after a year and a half! PS all of the hard work pays off :)
I'm actually teaching myself ballet, I've been watching your videos a lot to learn a bunch about ballet, I've also watched ThePointeShop to see where to get good point shoes and to make sure there the right ones, and I was looking to see if I'm ready for point shoes because I've been practiceing ballet for about a year. And I aced the test! Any tips on teaching myself ballet?
Ita very hard to teach yourself ballet technically becsuse you dont even know what youre doing is right or wrong not to discourage you but i also tried b4 and then when i went for actual classes everything i did was wrong sk
@@ahahaha239 I completely agree with you! I danced ballet for several years when I was in my teens and twenties, and went en pointe in my early twenties. I have very flat arches and rather stiff feet, although after pretty hard work, my feet became much more pliable and easier to get over my boxes. Trouble was, we didn't have so many different brands, types, and fits that we have today, and I got very discouraged and stopped dancing altogether. These days, I am taking video classes on TH-cam, and enjoying myself very much!! I will be taking classes soon, so that I can adjust my technique and maybe, just maybe, consider pointe classes.
I am 11 and I got on pointe when I was 10 I got my moms bones bc she was a dancer and I have only got injured 1ce and it was not dance related so I'd say between 10 and 14 is a good age depending on you
I am 13 years old and have moved to 3 different studios in the last 3 years I got told that I was going to go on pointe then whenever I moved studios I was always back on pre pointe and I have 8 years of ballet training and I don't now what to do.
Miss Auti - Make sure you're at least... Me - Staring at screen holding my breath Miss Auti - 12 years old Me - Heaves a big sigh of relief because I just turned 12 recently
I did ballet for one year when I was three but have been dancing jazz, contemporary/lyrical and hip hop ever since and somehow managed to ace this 😃 is this the universe telling me I should pick up ballet again?
I just need to work on my balance 😂 I've been dancing since I was 2 (11 years) and ballet is one of my my top favorite classes ❤️ I've been working really hard to get point shoes ❤️ Im not sure when that will be but I am gonna keep a working hard! I aced almost every thing in this video except balance. And I am 13 and thanks! This video really showed me what I needed to work on ❤️
I just finished my 1st performance of the year (I do 2 a year) and I’m trying to work towards pointe. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m on my first 3 toes. I hope that I’m 7 months, I will be on pointe. I go to dance about 4-5 days a week and the days I don’t I work on my ankle strength, toe strength, and foot flexibility.
Literally started ballet some months ago, and while I know I'm not ready in such a short amount of time, I was wondering how one knows itself time to try demi-pointe and pointe. But anyway, this video taught me new things that will be useful in future classes 😊
I started ballet classes at like 14-15 and my teacher immediately put me on pointe. I had prior training as a rhythmic gymnast so my feet were already strong and flexible. I also went on pointe in random shoes to reach high up objects. I was fitted with pretty hard shoes but killed them in a week lol. I quit very shortly after though
I’m 12 years old and I’ve been dancing for 10 years but I stoped dancing ballet at the age of 7 but now I wanna come back but my dance studio is very small and there is only one dance class for people my age and all of them are on pointe so I reeeeally wanna be prepared for when I come back!!
I started ballet classes again 2 weeks ago and I had my very first pointe class this week. I had to quit dance along with ballet because of Covid but now I’m so glad to be back, I started ballet in the second grade and did it up until Covid along with other dance genres. The reason I am able to start pointe after not doing ballet for 3 years is because the pointe classes itself focus more on building more ankle strength so while I do own my first pair of pointe shoes I only wore them for small exercises and took them off for the harder exercises that could’ve been dangerous for me. I still have the flexibility in my feet from all those years of dance I did though and I was still stretching during the lockdown. I also am old enough, I’m not going to say my exact age on the internet but trust me when I say I’m definitely old enough and have fully developed ankles. I know a lot of people say it’s dangerous to start pointe so early after not doing ballet for years, but I’m taking my baby steps, building that muscle back up, and not pushing myself too hard. My ballet teacher knows what he’s doing he’s a professional who’s been doing ballet his whole life and is making sure I am not pushing myself too hard and makes me take them off when I’m working my feet too hard so I don’t break my ankles
Yesssss, I'm 11 and I'm getting my point shoes in September of 2022. Aka when I'm 12. I know that's a year from now, but I've been doing ballet for 8 years and I can't wait them! ( I also aced the quiz )
I have been dancing for 5 years, lyrical/contemporary for 5 and jazz for 6. I have done a year of ballet 2 years ago but my feet are super good, I’m 14, I have good control and strength. I’m pretty good with all this but I’m not in ballet. I might join next season but I probably won’t be moved to pointe for a while though so I’m nervous!
Miss Auti, I don't know if you'll see this so anyone can answer really but, I have a bit of a issue. So I am a bit of an older teenager who has always wanted to do ballet since I was little and sadly never got to. Earlier in the year I began going to adult classes to learn the basics and bring myself to the level of skill and strength I needed to be in for the class that was my age group. Then covid came. So then I took it upon myself to keep learning and that's how I found you. (Thank you very much by the way, your videos have helped so much and I see improvement in myself after every one.) I am relatively flexible and have grown stronger over the past year along with teaching myself the basics. Without a teacher, do think I would be able to teach myself how to dance in pointe with myself and your tutorials?
I'm a boy, ready for pointe but sometimes my ankles bow 😢 but my dance teacher says boys don't really do pointe. I'm working on that and praying to get onto pointe, and prove her I can!!! Also I aced the quiz
@@trainwithkendall Thanks 😊 I'm talking to my teacher about it on Sunday! I'm hoping it goes the right way and she won't be mad of frustrated or upset 😅
@@trainwithkendall sorry i haven't updated but my dance teacher broke my heart and my dreams 💔 I think you can guess what happened from what I just said
Fascinating information for us poor peasants who have NO clue what any of this means but want to know!! Thanks for being so cute! My grand daughter started off doing ballet but two years later was upset she couldn't play in the summer with her friends bc of classes and decided to drop out... I hated it and then of course a few years later she was like "why was I so stupid to quit?"... ugh. I wish you had been her teacher!! Maybe she would have stayed with it!!
i aced this besides my age im 10 but have very strong and flexible ankles and one of my teachers said that hopefully next year ill be on pointe so im really exited and im friends with basically everyone on pointe at my studio so i can always look to them for help so yeah im exited
I did well on that - but my first position is nowhere near yours! Does turnout flexibility matter? Like, do you have to have x amount of degrees of turnout in your first position for pointe shoes? Thank you so much, Miss Auti!
I’m 17 and have only been doing ballet for a year. I see so many younger people getting their pointe shoes and I’m not gonna lie, it makes me jealous! I hope I can get to the point (haha, pun not intended) that I can use pointe shoes too :)
Absolutely!! I have always told parents to start with a pair of demi pointe shoes at age 10 (something for them to look forward to getting and can help them work on technique). [To be clear: demi pointe shoes are NOT meant for going en pointe!*] Then, pointe shoes for their 12th birthday. So glad to hear others advocating this too. I honestly get quite discouraged when I see parent-led social media accounts/pages that show their 9yr old en pointe 😓💔

I have done ballet since I was little but I never got to where I was old enough for pointe and then took a break for a few years but now that I am into it again I am so excited to go en pointe!
yay! i’ve done ballet for nine years and idk when i’m getting mine 😔
I never took ballet training in my life but I wanted to and your videos helped me soo much .... Love you 🤗
I don't do ballet (took beginner classes once a week for a year, long time ago) and only very ocassionally do sports, but I could do all of these without any trouble.
Me: I'm 47 am I haven't taken a class EVER... EVEN I WANT A PAIR!!
Thank you!!
I get my pointe shoes next month! So excited
What makes me happy is that years and years ago someone posted a video like this (Except it made no since and the things to “work on” were wrong😑) and I got all like 10 of them perfectly. I was 7 I think😂 But now this one I understand and with my skill level in ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary, and tap, I’m ready for pointe shoes!
thanks for this video. i started ballet 4 , 5 months ago and my teacher said she wanted me to test to go into the next level (i passed) and now it’s time for point shoes !!!
i’m working my way up to point and my teacher said (she teaches broadway) that in a month or so i’ll be absolutely ready
@Lauren Milne thanks!!
Lol been 4 months, you on point?
I’ve never done ballet but I aced this test, maybe all of my sports have made my ankles better!
Yayyyy!!! I passed the test!!!! And even better.... I will get my firts pair THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!! I'm 13 by the way. Loved the test! : )
⚠️UPDATE: I got my first pair!!! I have been using them like for a month and I love it!!
So happy for you
I aced it! Im gonna cryyyyy. This has been my dream since foreverrrrr. Good thing that my academy will open a pointe setion real soon😍
sameeee
I'm 13, I've been dancing since I was 4. I'm pretty sure that when covid lets us go back to the studio I'm gonna get my pointe shoes, in quarantine I've been working out the things that were lacking, now I feel much more confident
Hi I love this video! It heed me so much I did all of these and I could do it and I got pointe shoes and lessons and it was the best decision I ever made! Love your videos!
I meant helped not heed
My teacher said we’ll be going on pointe once we finish learning all of our grade 5 work :D
I’m so excited as I’ve been waiting for this for everrrrr aaaa
i just got back to dancing last year after 5-6 years i think but i would say im learning a lot more that what i remember when i was little also those rising exercises are really good my friend did those and got pointe after a year and a half!
@@ahahaha239
I completely agree with you!
I aced, thank you so much!!! Totally subscribing!!!
I PASSED AND I DANCE ON POINT SINCE 1 YEAR. COULD YOU DO A TRAINIG ROTINE FOR POINT?
Im 11 and have been doing ballet for almost a year, and my ballet teacher said i could go en pointe in 1-2 months! im super excited :)
What should I do?
Do they know that?
Terrific self-evaluative video! Amazing!
Miss Auti - Make sure you're at least...
Me - Staring at screen holding my breath
Miss Auti - 12 years old
Me - Heaves a big sigh of relief because I just turned 12 recently
I wish u were my Ballet teacher!😍
I did ballet for one year when I was three but have been dancing jazz, contemporary/lyrical and hip hop ever since and somehow managed to ace this 😃 is this the universe telling me I should pick up ballet again?
I just need to work on my balance 😂 I've been dancing since I was 2 (11 years) and ballet is one of my my top favorite classes ❤️ I've been working really hard to get point shoes ❤️ Im not sure when that will be but I am gonna keep a working hard! I aced almost every thing in this video except balance. And I am 13 and thanks! This video really showed me what I needed to work on ❤️
Hi. Im 11 but im really srong in my feet. I am currently doing pre-pointe exercises. Cant wait to get on point!
Yes I ate this all I have to do is work on my core strength and then I'll get me some point shoes I'm so excited
I'm in pre-pointe and my sister just got pointe shoes! I aced the entire quiz except for the age.
I am in prepointe rn and to start Pointe our studio is waiting for bars and mirrors we just moved in
I am 10 and my arch and everything is really good!
Excelente explicación. Gracias Miss Auti
I got my pointe shoes last year and I got the lead in swan lake! I’m only 13 but I think I’m really advanced in ballet
I love your dance tutorial videos! Love you Auti
i actually got my pointe shoes one year ago, but i was still excited to see if i was even ready for them.
btw, i aced that quiz :)
I have never taken ballet before but competes in figure skating and aced this test haha
Literally started ballet some months ago, and while I know I'm not ready in such a short amount of time, I was wondering how one knows itself time to try demi-pointe and pointe.
But anyway, this video taught me new things that will be useful in future classes 😊
WOOOWWWW!!! THE WORKSHOP!!....JUST MY TOP DANCERS TOGHETERRRR!! COUNT ME IN!!!🥰✨😁🩰
I just got permission from my teachers to start pre pointe after 1 year of dancing but my parents won’t let me!! :(
I agree with @Pooh Bear. There are 4 main types of ballet shoes/slippers/etc. There are full sole, split sole, pre-pointe, and pointe.
tell them to have a conversation with your dance teacher maybe
I started ballet classes at like 14-15 and my teacher immediately put me on pointe. I had prior training as a rhythmic gymnast so my feet were already strong and flexible. I also went on pointe in random shoes to reach high up objects. I was fitted with pretty hard shoes but killed them in a week lol. I quit very shortly after though
Im doing ballet for 2 years and im eleven now,i almost get my first pair!!i still warm up with pointe shoes even tho i can't.
I’m gonna get my first pair of pointe shoes next saturday and I’m so excited about it🥰🥰
I have been doing point since I was ten and have never broken of had bad ingerys and I’m pretty good at it
I’m 12 years old and I’ve been dancing for 10 years but I stoped dancing ballet at the age of 7 but now I wanna come back but my dance studio is very small and there is only one dance class for people my age and all of them are on pointe so I reeeeally wanna be prepared for when I come back!!
I’m getting pointe shoes in 6 days and I aced this yay
I haven’t done ballet since I was 8 ( now 11) and I aced this test! I’m starting back after the pandemic!
Yesssss, I'm 11 and I'm getting my point shoes in September of 2022. Aka when I'm 12. I know that's a year from now, but I've been doing ballet for 8 years and I can't wait them! ( I also aced the quiz )
That's going to be so fun! Can't wait! 🤗🤗😁😁
Omg did this in the morning got all right and in the afternoon my teacher told me i was ready i am getting then in 28 days thank you
I have been dancing for 5 years, lyrical/contemporary for 5 and jazz for 6. I have done a year of ballet 2 years ago but my feet are super good, I’m 14, I have good control and strength. I’m pretty good with all this but I’m not in ballet. I might join next season but I probably won’t be moved to pointe for a while though so I’m nervous!
I've never taken ballet classes and can do this and have wanted pointe shoes for a long time :)
OMG your test really helped because the day after they said I could go on point and I’m now on pre point
I just got my pointe shoes for New Years!
I'm a boy, ready for pointe but sometimes my ankles bow 😢
but my dance teacher says boys don't really do pointe. I'm working on that and praying to get onto pointe, and prove her I can!!!
Also I aced the quiz
You can do anything your heart desires!
@@trainwithkendall Thanks 😊 I'm talking to my teacher about it on Sunday! I'm hoping it goes the right way and she won't be mad of frustrated or upset 😅
@@trainwithkendall sorry i haven't updated but my dance teacher broke my heart and my dreams 💔 I think you can guess what happened from what I just said
I am going to get my first
Pair of Pointe shoes next year!!(I have been dancing since I was 3 and a half)
Turn out is important, but I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker! It's something to continuously work on, just like the rest of your technique :D
@@trainwithkendall Thank you so much!! ;D
