And creating those enemies means we have to pour our heart and soul into every little detail.

I really hope they'll include things from the D100-based TTRPG.
There's enough awesome material there for several game series.
It's going to focus on more popular stuff first, I would think, BUT I feel like they know how the fans of 40k would feel if we run in to a lesser known character/mob... for other people it'd just be a cool monster or NPC, but to us we'd be SCREAMING with joy to see some lesser known but still loved characters!
I'm just amazed that I get a videogame set in a corner of space I've GM'd for like half a decade xD

@@Ender240sxS13 Yeah, everyone was expecting something like Starfinder (the sci fi version of Pathfinder) from Owlcat, everyone got surprised with a 40k game.
I can’t tell you how much having proper insight into the various processes helps soothe my worries.
We haven’t had a truly outstanding 40K game in a long time and it is the perfect universe for a *proper* RPG experience.
I am quietly hyped and hoping this helps heal the disappointment left behind from Darktide.

Moderate your expectations, it is rare to find a Warhammer niche that offers as much narrative and playable freedom as the rogue trader offers in 40k. In the game you are putting xenos, psychics, abhumans, inquisitors, religious zealots, and space marines under one roof. In any other situation they would kill each other as soon as they saw.
After the awesome that was PWotR, I can only imagine how much love is in this.

It's very cool to see the presence of Word Bearers on pc WH40K - great faction adding much to the atmosphere and tons of plotline possibilities - yet we haven't seen those guys since quite a time in a computer game.
I'm pretty sure the voice actor has read several Black Library novels, but I can't put my finger on which.

The devs know who best girl is. Even my Eldar bias can't contend with the Noble Lady of Swirling Colours.

This looks so good, i cant wait for the Beta, I just hope i can make my way through Wrath of the Righteous before then.
Would recommend waiting until after the beta unless you enjoy helping devs hunt down bugs.
Owlcat does betas more like what beta tests traditionally are, not Betas like what a lot of modern devs do, these aren't just early previews to get the hype up, they are works in progress and they will be buggy.
Used to do that back in the day so would be glad to help.

This is excellent work.
Im starting to look forward for this game. There is however some questions that remain. Will the game have voice acting in it or is it purely text based dialogues? Second question are the void battlemap and mechanics improved since Alpha? There is some negative experiences and feedback for that particular gameplay section.
I am particularly worried about the “turn-based only” approach they have chosen for combat. Switching back and forth with real time combat was perfect in KM or WotR… why remove it?! 😢
@@TheBocklin because guns, and based from the alpha footage, they wanted to make it cover based like xcom or shadowrun.

I love 40k, I love CRPGs, but I was on the fence for this one. But think I've just come off the fence now. Hellbrute looks great and that Necron Destroyer Lord. Often.

Thinking about dropping the dosh to get the sexy special edition to get access to the game now until launch. Looks so damn good, but if I spend that much, I might as well go bananas with it and get the chocolately deluxe ultimate edition with the statue and stuff.
Just be aware that Owlcat does betas as betas have traditionally always been, work in progress builds to hunt down bugs and finish polishing game mechanics. It's not an early preview just to get hype up, there will be bugs, lots of them, some game breaking/progress blocking. And some mechanics will be unpolished or outright broken.
This isn't a criticism of Owlcat, just want to make sure people have the right expectations going in since so many game developers these days use the term beta when they really mean demo or preview.
I hope there wont be a horde of world eater to mow through, it will be both weird and not very lore friendly. btw it's the great time to bring out the big gun, empire's own space marine companion. I just hope it will be in the standard of space marine.

Okay, this is cool and all, but I hope for a game set in the mysterious Koronus Expanse, they actually have some enemies (or potential allies) that are not main stream 40k factions. Having only a bunch of enemies we've all seen many times before is kind of frustrating when you consider the Expanse has a multitude of cool lesser known factions and xenos in it already. Where are the Stryxis? The Rak'gol marauders? Or even the chaos pirate reavers of Karrad Vall, the "Faceless Lord"? It would be a true shame if the game is set Koronus Expanse and most of the cool and unique stuff in it is ignored.

Should have made a Pathfinder 2e game. I've run both 1e and 2e now, and 2e is just better, smoother, faster, more tactical and strategic, more fun, in every single way.
