I have been in touch with Vont about the "Spark" headlamp being out of stock on Amazon and they told me it would be back on the shelves by the end of next week, or around June 19th. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Weblink shows still unavailable and do not know when will be back in stock. $9.95 for 2 lights including shipping minus 10% discount. Too good to be true. Not your fault...you got used by Vont. As such I will be avoiding their products in the future.

What a great find. Husband retired geologist, was really excited to see your find. He guessed palm frond or palm tree trunk. Travel safe and God bless.
I like the light in the engine compartment idea. Last time I changed the air filter on the Ford diesel I found that a rodent had started a nest in the air box around the filter. Thanks for the tips on security and rodent control. Have a great week.
I’ve been trying to think of what kind of rock that is. The only thing I can think of is some kind of petrified plant. Possibly a large bamboo ot possibly a palm or banana tree. Interesting. Those are nice headlamps. Everybody needs a set in their camping stuff.
Thanks for sharing, with what’s going on in today’s world you can’t have enough security. Keep sharing all your security knowledge. I love the headlamps. It can come in handy doing anything. Thank care guys!!
The head lights are one of the most useful "accessories" you can have, I have used them for many years now, and when you are needing both hands free to fix some mechanical problem in a confined space, they are invaluable, the strange thing is, when other people see them they roll around in fits of laughter, they, having never had to fix a problem in a confined space, do not see the need for them, but I really would not be without mine, the driveway alarm is another wonderful 3rd eye, ours warns us of the approach of Wild Boar, Deer, and the postman, who has never quite worked out how we know he is driving up our track and are waiting for him to arrive ! Stay safe ! Chris B.
Good to know! So If we pick up a couple motion sensor alarms and we hear something outside our trailer late at night but the alarms not gone off there's a chance it's just Linda skulking around. hahaha Thanks for the review! I like red light the option. You wont ruin your night eyes but you can still see around in the dark. Thanks for sharing!
I like the security lights. That's a great thing to have unfortunately. It's sad that we have to worry about this kind of thing these days. I always knew back in the day that campgrounds were a safe place because we were with like minded people. I really never worried when I was backpacking in the mountains of Colorado. I always had my Marlin 45-70 for bear and mountain lions and such. I only ran I to someone once that was looking for food. I offered to drive him into a town to buy some but he said no and moved on. So I packed up camp and headed back to the truck. I called the sheriff and told them about the man and it turned out that he was wanted and they sent a few deputy's up there and found him. Who knows what he was capable of. I think my rifle told him to leave me alone. That was a eye opener for me. I never thought I would have to worry about people but I was wrong. Happy camping.😁
I'm a geologist (but my specialty is NOT fossils), I think you are actually looking at a fossil sponge. They grew 'em bigger back then. Much of Montana and adjacent was covered with ocean. While I certainly see the similarities between the petrified palm, the key is mineralization...petrified wood won't FIZZ under acid (HCl) since it's silica whereas the limey (carbonate) corals and sponges will FIZZ. Loved the video as always, keep it up.
Thank you for your insight, but the sea sponges I've seen don't have the holes going straight through like this does and these holes are uniform in diameter, unlike a sponge. However I'm certainly no expert on that subject. I have cut down many palm trees and this is a match to those. Are you saying that if I tested the surface with acid I'd get one of the the results you described? Interesting.
@@gonagain Right, just a drop of hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid) will tell...fizz or not. You may already have some in the garage for cleaning aluminum. (Don't forget the PPE.)

I really like your camp security videos. I want to go car camping and your videos are helpful and will be when I get my small camper. I’ll definitely be getting the Vont headlamps and the sensor. It will definitely make me feel safer.
Great video , my son gave me a re_ chargeable head lamp , it is great , I use it in the shop , fishing etc. I see your point on the battery one , because mine has went dead & there you are till you charge it . As for the solar alarm lamp , we have three of them & use them on the property for coyote control & they work great! :-) we have sheep & when lambing time comes the alarms are set for night and are placed all around the corral where ewes & lambs are . We also leave a radio on in the barn . Thanks always like your video's.! :-)

The perimeter wire on those is high enough that mice, raccoons and possums will go underneath them without tripping them, but a bear will. The loud noise will scare the bear off and send it running back into the woods, which is preferable to being woken up by the bear trying to break my window or rip the door siding apart, to get to the food that it can smell inside my vehicle & fridge, and then having to use either a firearm or bear spray at point blank range with the bear just a foot away from me right outside my car door (which either way, using either a firearm or bear spray at point blank range, would be quite a scary, precarious, and potentially perilous proposition). Another advantage of a trip-wire perimeter alarm is that there are no batteries to worry about. Disadvantage, of course, is that it takes a little longer to set the four stakes and run the perimeter wires than it does to affix two or three solar-powered battery-operated motion sensor alarms on the outside of the vehicle, but really only just a few minutes for the former, so not a big deal. Hello Jody, We just use those orange snap together levelers that you can buy in the RV section at Walmart. We wore out one set, but they last for several years anyway. They should be able to handle that weight ok. amzn.to/2MGIyiO
had been using an incandescent type headlamp which would literlly eat batteries. I got caught on the trail in a heavy rain shower and when the rain hit the glass bulb, it exploded. I ended up throwing it away rather than trying to fix it, it just wasn't worth the batteries and new lamp. Now a days, I use a Harbor Freight palm sized LED flash light. Headlights are sold out. Doh! I like the feature of staying in the same color mode. That would great for astronomy to help keep you from accidentally blowing your dark adaptation
palm trees also seem to pop up where priests explored the west.. seems they ate Dates.. and spit out the seeds.. some of the seeds grew into Date palms in the darndest of places..
That's interesting info. Coconut palms only grow along the shoreline because that's where the coconuts wash up. I don't know what kind of palm this is though.

Wondering if you have any thoughts on blank-shotgun-shell trip-wire perimeter alarms, like those from Sentry Alarm Mine and Fith Ops, for SUV car-camping in bear country, in remote, isolated settings where there are no other campers around within a mile or so?
By the way, with regard to porcupines and marmots gnawing on your brake lines, the two solutions I most often hear for that are: 1) to fill panty hose with moth balls and string them over the vehicle’s axles, and 2) to spray coyote urine (commercially available in spray bottles that you can buy online) in a line around the perimeter of the vehicle.
I think the trip wires could be fun, but the poor deer might not like them as much. The coyote urine is probably a winner for sure.

Rain all week where I'm camped by Mt Adams. Going to try braided fishing line on my spinning rod and reel. I actually keep several of those type of lights for work. Great for hands free in dark places. You two love birds take care...
So are you camping for fun this time or are you near a job site? I hope it's for fun.
@@gonagain A bit of work for free and play. My friend of 50 years has cancer and really needs help. It's timely since we're not supposed to work till July 25 for quarrentien, I'm quarantining with him lowering his stress getting his stuff done so it's not hanging over his head. He pays expenses and takes me out to fish hike other stuff. It's all fun to me. I like to be doing things. Hopefully everything will work out for him. Body scans in a couple weeks will convey good news unlike the last scan. We're thinking of doing a serious video on the topic. It could help people. Take care.
@@CITAP1 That's really nice of you to do that for him. Good man!
@@gonagain He's got a long record of being there for me and my brother. He's more like as are mom used to say, an adopted son. He was up in Seattle helping me swap out my truck engine last year when that seized on me. Interestingly I was on my way home from his place when it happened. We've taken care of each other.
Bright idea !!! I was actually looking into some head lamps !!!
Great tips. Thank you. Facinating about the fossilized palm tree. 💞🐶😽😻💞
Thanks for watching, Roux Chat!
Great video. I do like watching the videos that you post. They are very informative. Stay safe.
Headlights are sold out. Doh! I like the feature of staying in the same color mode. That would great for astronomy to help keep you from accidentally blowing your dark adaptation
Yeah, I liked that feature too. I hate having to click through a half dozen modes to turn something off and on. Thanks for watching John.
Those look like nice headlamps but I have went with usb headlamps but I own both.I kind of have an addiction to any kind of flashlights 🔦
We have a love of flashlights too and need to replace our headlamps.
The headlamps are a great idea, and reasonable priced. Thanks for sharing the security tips................
Good ideas as usual. Linda’s such a good sport!
palm trees also seem to pop up where priests explored the west.. seems they ate Dates.. and spit out the seeds.. some of the seeds grew into Date palms in the darndest of places..
That's interesting info. Coconut palms only grow along the shoreline because that's where the coconuts wash up. I don't know what kind of palm this is though.
Good information video and helpful on both equipment and science knowledge...
I have fossilized coral in my rock garden, came from white sulfur springs, lots of minerals around there.
There's a lot of sea shells on top of the Gravely Mountains too. Interesting.
@@gonagain I guess we were under a sea thousands of years ago I panned tailings off my well when they were drilling and got tons of tiny shells.
I don't think Linda had to duck very far LOL...great hack, thanks!
Haha! That's why I had her do that part. Thanks for watching Dave.
your good at this stuff man & l like your honesty too
I can never get to many headlamps. They never seem to be handy when I need one.
Groovy head lights! Thanks for the good info...just found your channel..God bless! And enjoy the adventure!
Thanks for watching Chef!
Mice in the engine compartment! Yep, they found me in AZ. Someone said it was pack rats...? I am now using a solar charged "rope light" under the hood and under the vehicle.
That's a good idea too.
Wondering if the red lights would be bright enough to hunt crawlers....
Cool Rock!!
I like that alarm idea and going to look into it, thank you
Hello there sir I really like the lights and the security stuff you're advertising I'm going to order some but regarding regarding the rock you're holding I believe that to be a pumis Rock maybe from Oregon probably is from Oregon
Headlamp is pretty awesome
Got my alarm lamp and vont headlamp! Thanks 🙏
You might take note that some animals aren't bothered by red light. That's why they are used by varmint hunters at night. Did you check to see if mice can see it?
Mouse eyes have both cones and rods so they do see the color red. They don't see it as well as they do ultraviolet, but they do react to it.
Headlights are good when you need both hands for working.
I need this for checking on my animals at night if there's a disturbance.
Headlamps are handy for sure. These will be back in stock by the end of next week.
The elastic on my head lamp is stretched out. Would like to have a new one 😁
Great Video. Very Instructional. Thanks.
Another great video!
I like the vont headlights, real neat
Really enjoy the informative videos.
Vont headlamps look good. Love to have one.
Thank you for your video. Very informative!
Hi looks like lava rock, but a lighter color than what we have here in NM.
Love your videos 😁
Thank you Lynda.
