Yes, and on top of that, It's the only feasable way to make a feature length movie with a one man team, and THE BLENDER! :)
I really like how you showcase the bumpy road to the final product. For me that made it more interesting to watch than vids that just go straight from A to B not mentioning any of the failed attempts that helped pave that way. Even though I'm quite proficient with Blender, I still regularly find myself going for a take two, or take three after my initial plan proves to be too cumbersome.
You have a unique tutorial style. How can you squeeze a complex project in 5-7 min while still being clear and easy to understand? This is a magic skill, Kev!
I love that the natural problem solving process eventually brings you to a fairly similar place that a pro might use. It's like evolution, usually the most efficient workflows come to the surface through enough trial and error :)
this is really great, when doing environments always think "modular" everything is a module you jam into other modules. then add props and what not on top of them. rotation and scale are your friends. like the universe is made of fractals build in modules..copy repeat scale rotate...
Geo nodes even let you do crazy things like procedural buildings. You could get crazy and make a city of unique buildings, scatter props like crates and cars and trash all over. There's really no limit to the depth you can go to, it depends entirely on when you decide it's enough.
it is amazing how far homemade projects have come. sure things can look better if you used multiple software programs, but the mere fact that you can hop into blender and create a scene like this is amazing
That's fantastic! I'm still early stages with blender, so I'm not up to geometry nodes yet. But considering how powerful it is, that's definitely up next. Well done!!
It doesn't go unnoticed that you reply to all your comments. Who needs Ian Hubert when you've got Kev. Always fun and informative, you deserve your success sir.
Really wonderful result. Of course my "accuracy node" in my brain tries to object but then I bring it back with "not everything needs to be accurately interactive, and film shots or render shots can really make magic with these tricks"... Guess its my more game-dev approach that has me constantly think "the city is fake, I can't walk in it and nothing makes sense on ground level, no actual city layout design etc etc etc", which has bled into my general creative projects as well. Im that nut that will create a city for a book and will sit there and draw the city first creating districts and locations and unique parts to it etc etc. Guess both ways work, depends on what you are going for :) Awesome result, love it.
Very true on all accounts. For brevity sake, I didn’t build in a city grid or roads, just dirt. It’s not practical in any way other than an rushed establishing shot. Something like this needs way more time, which I never have. Thanks!
I came looking for a pivot point relocation... I found... well more... thank you? Altho' life was so much simpler in 2018... not for me, obviously... but for other people. It's a journey...
