    Check the badges on the trunk, they might need to be resealed.

    Subscribed.... Because...190e. I have 3. In NYC. (2) 93' Sportlines. (1) 86' 2.3. Had 5 at one time. Waiting on a 5 speed complete swap from Canada. For 1 Sportline 2.6. Have complete 5 speed swap for the 2.3 from a donor. Have many spare parts. Including OEM rare parts. Looking forward to your content. 😷🤜..... good luck on the channel.
    P.S. There's a spring compressor for that set up allowing to remove/replace. Without dropping the arms. But. You got it done. 👍

    Front springs you need a twin disc type spring remover not the silly ones on this vid ! I can do both my 190 springs in 20 minutes a side ! Boots always leak around the rear window seal and rear lights , sealed mine with black bonding and greased up the rear light seals ! Water tight now ....Clear the water drains hiding in side pockets underneath the side trim covers they make nice fish ponds in the boot !

      I was just about to comment how the right tool for the job makes the job so much easier lol. Yeah, Mercedes uses a special kind of spring compressor that unfortunately most automotive stores will not rent out because they don't have them. I bought my spring compressors off of Amazon for like $80. Definitely worth the money

    The wheel offset looks waaay out of spec. .. I'm old sckol, w/'94 C124 3.2 Sportline suspension coupe. .. When ditching the OEM 15"x7" ET41 alloys... the alloys from a donor 1999 W210 sedan fit nicely, keeping with the OEM 8 hole aesthetic. .. 16"x7.5 ET41 ... This keep the C124 chassis suspension geometry status quo. .. The 16" alloys w/ Michelin's look the part, plus the Sportline options ever-so-lower stance. ..
    Great project .. keep at it.

    There should be little drain holes on both sides of the boot lid. They are located on the inner skin at the furthest corners as far as I can remember. Usually there is a little flap that covers them for some strange Mercedes reason so they get clogged or just stuck shut.
    Also if you still find water in your boot it’ll be your sunroof drains which are a common rust causing fault. 👍

    You should clean the water plugs from the bottom of the trunk, one is in the middle in the wheel well and other ones are on the sides under those trunk plastics

    It could be leaking from the seal around the trunk release push button on the trunk lid

    Amazing video man! Not sure if you'd respond or other car guys but living in Colombia at the moment and looking for a car that's old and reliable... found an amazingly kept 1986 Mercedes-Benz Clase E 2.0 190 E W201... I understand some parts may be expensive but the family at least are telling me that this is a mistake to even look at... would love to hear any experience with older Class E's people have... I'm not a mechanic at all but willing to learn to save costs if that's at all possible.

      You end up getting one? I just bought a 190D and I'm very happy with it. If it's been well kept, you will have less to do, but there's always going to be little stuff with older cars. Personally, I prefer older cars. Late 80s to about 2006 is my range. Much older and you get into having bad brakes and poor suspension/steering geometry.

    Hey, looking at lowering my 190Dt. How much stiffer is the ride? I am hoping to get about an inch of drop so this might make sense for me. Are these the 1.3/1.25 inch drop springs or the 1" drop springs? I know they have two different flavors.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>> TAIL LIGHT SEALS. Water condenses and ends up on the boot lid.

  • @jasonmorgan6646
    @jasonmorgan6646 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey so you have a bad seal some where around the trunk that’s letting water ether the around Tail light trunks seal or antenna then causes condensation in the deck lid

    Hey I’ve been referring to this video all day and successfully did the rear suspension to my 1987 300e. I had some issues with removing the front spring bc my spring compressor tool didn’t fit between the coils. What brand or size spring compressor tool did you use and where did you get them from?

    • @chrisdz
      @chrisdz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the brand, im not sure.. i rented from pep boys. iirc, you could technically take out the bolt from the lower control arm and lower the whole thing down slowly, but definitely more sketchy
