for some reason in my memory it was possible to get the full suit without ice beam and i swear ive done it before as a kid, however that cant be since you cant hurt metroids without ice beam, i still know how wave beam looks without ice beam tho, really weird

Not sure about the full suit without ice beam part, but it's absolutely possible to skip ice beam to get wave beam.
