Very interesting video Tom. Really enjoy seeing load outs from other countries. A few guys at our local field do kits from other countries. Makes it more fun IMHO.
I’ve been talking to Gadge today about doing some more of these. Especially as he used to do the popular Cold War warriors articles for Airsoft Action Magazine.
As far as the shorter hat brim it may not be regulation size but the original Viet Nam Tiger Stripe boonie hats were about the same size brim as yours they look like the bucket hats more than a traditional boonie hat with the webbing loops.
Soldiers have long been altering their kit to fit some notion of fashion. Some of it makes a degree of sense. Getting more vision and sound awareness for example. Then it gets taken to ridiculous Levels!
Thanks Glenn. Yeah I don’t realise how much I like it until I wear it. I think British kit can suffer from being the ‘rental uniform’ sometimes where as it’s actually incredibly varied and interesting.
Great vid as pre usual Tom, any plans on doing the same with more 'modern' or UKSF style load outs for milsim use? I have almost completed a UKSF loadout for battle/milsims later this year and have built that for (probably more than I should) not a massive amount of money.
@@AnvilAirsoftTV I've been considering a change in direction regarding all my kit and at present I have most of a ~2010-2012 load out (or at least the very base level). I'm currently considering a shift into GBBR's and as such I'd be getting rid of my ICS for a WE but as with all these things I'm taking my time working it out. Admittedly I think I'm spending a lot of time mulling it over simply because (like many) I don't know when I'll be looking at returning to the field.
I've been to some skirmish days and found that even on a cold day, I was down to a t-shirt pretty quickly due to overheating. Would you say this is less of an issue with milsim because of a slower pace generally? Thinking back to fieldcraft exercises in the Army Cadets, I recall having my windproof smock on most of the time. I only remember a handful of occasions where I was getting particularly uncomfortable... although I'm sure the instructors felt discomfort was all a part of the experience!
It’s got a maple leaf hop and barrel in so it seems a bit superfluous to test it as it’s totally not stock now but I will be doing a recoil comparison between a TM NGRS, GBLS DAS and the GHK.
I have a question about wearing the ECBA body armor. Is it true that the correct way of wearing it is to have the bottom line of the vest covers your stomach and liver area? It cannot go all the way down as it may affect your movement.
They are all individually sized using the NATO system. So it goes where it goes really. It shouldn’t ride up over your webbing and there’s loops on it for that. A lot of people in Northen Ireland had it under their smock though. Partly to retain access to pockets and partly to make the lads look bigger.
Hello i live in belgium, and bought the same windproof smock u have, its also only for training but whats the difference between a training one and a normal one? just the ''irr'' treatment? thank u
Brilliant video mate! I'm trying to build a British army load out, I just need some new trousers and an l85! My trousers are waayy too small now because I got them when I was like 12. My load out is mtp although I may get some dpm trousers too because I have a dpm jacket hidden somewhere in my room

Excellent video mate, made some purchases based on your recommendations. Do you reckon a desert dpm osprey would go over the woodland dpm and still blend?
If you go through photos in Afghan they used all sorts depending on what region they were in and what they had been issued. That calmed down a few years in when the urgent operational requirements started being met. DDPM armour would stick out a mile in woodland though. My trousers are quite faded and do a decent job of blending into forests and woodland ground
It would have been Anchor Supplies in Nottingham but they won’t list items like that on their website. Best bet if you aren’t in the UK would to look at PLCE webbing on eBay but don’t pay more than £40-50 for one. There are some sets up for ridiculous money at the moment.

The beret or bush hat with a helmet clipped to the webbing was fairly iconic. Good video.
Glad you liked it. More like this to come.
Classic Brit kit.
I put together a pretty slick Dog Soldiers loadout in the early 2000’s, hah.

I have almost completed a UKSF loadout for battle/milsims later this year and have built that for (probably more than I should) not a massive amount of money.
I don’t have a full UKSF loadout to complete standard. There’s things wrong with it. I’ve sort of covered it last year with the 2020 loadout series.
I will do a late Afghan Osprey MTP loadout though as I’ve got everything bar an Afghan spec L85.
