    Little known fact. Each driver uses a piece of coal in their ass to produce a diamond by the end of the race at which point they sell to repair/rebuild any damages before the next race.

      LOL, you've got a +1 from me, too! Brings me a higher understanding and appreciation of the sport. I'm also thinking that diamond would do a lot towards re-building one's sanity and nerves, as well as any automobile repairs. XD

    Adam Radiske - thanks for posting. I had lost interest in racing until my son found this video and posted it on my Fb page about 2 years ago. It reinvigorated my love for Figure 8 racing, and I attended the 150-lap Outlaw Figure 8 World Final race in FL the past 2 years. Now I am looking forward to traveling from Long Island, NY to Indianapolis to attend my first World Championship 3-hour Enduro on September 8, 2018. Got my tickets, hotel reservations, and can't wait to cross it off my 'bucket list'. Hope to see you there! Thanks again :^)

      Happy to hear that sharing my experience has helped re-spark your interest. The World 3 Hour at the Speedrome is definitely a must-see event. After going for my first time in 2014, I promised myself I'd never miss it. Now, with my wife being pregnant and due at any time, the 13hr road trip is out of the question. But I will be watching it through pay-per-view this year with hopes to pick up where I left off in 2019. Enjoy the race and the experience!

    • @adamradiske

      Adam, we did make it to the 2018 race and endured 2 days of rain delays. 2022 will mark our 5th straight year attending the 3 hour, the most exciting event on the planet. Hope you can make it!

      Dirty Poul You place much faith in those droids. I've had enough experiences with computers and other technology making mistakes that I'm not hopping on the autonomous car bandwagon.

    • @flukshun
      @flukshun 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +thooke222 i've had enough experience with human drivers not even paying attention to the road to know that those mistakes will be relatively small in comparison and increasingly rare as time goes on.

    • @DirtyPoul
      @DirtyPoul 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thooke222 AI makes mistakes if you program if the hardware breaks down or if there is a bug. You can bug fix and make sure it does not make a software related mistake. Hardware mistakes are impossible to completely correct, but it is far more stable than human focus, and thus makes far less mistakes. Go look at the Google self driving cars. There have been 11 accidents with them so far. All of them were caused by another car not paying attention, and they were all minor accidents such as a scratch or so. Look it up.
      Computers making mistakes are most likely because you made a mistake with the computer, or some other human error. If you aren't on the autonomous bandwagon, maybe you will when an AI takes your job.

    I made a theory for why some racers are "cheating". Now I don't know anything about Figure-8s so don't take my comment too seriously, but based on observation they aren't actually cheating. They are actually trying to "restart" the lap they are in. As said in previous comments the cars have electric transponders so they can never cheat the system. All they are doing is restarting the lap for another chance to pass through the middle intersection again. When you think about it, this type of motorsport actually requires a little more thought and strategy. Truly interesting

      +edu gonzalez Each car has an electronic transponder and the track uses a scoring program to keep track of progress. The cars must complete a full lap to count so the drivers "cheating" by not going through the X do not get their lap counted. Fans can use a phone app that would show live standings of the entire field of cars.
