VForceWave SPOILERS what's also interesting is the scene where Alvis frees them in Alcamoth. Alvis: The real reason you have been detained is not because you are outsiders. Shulk: You don't mean...? Alvis: Yes. *The monado.* Free these people. *I shall take all responsibility for their actions* whilst in the capital. They are now guests of the royal family.
*MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR XENOBLADE 2* If Alvis is the third Aegis Ontos like how Xenoblade 2 heavily implies then Shulk and Alvis's relationship takes on a whole new meaning because that means they're Blade and Driver and Alvis basically preforms a Blade special in this cutscene (he even tosses the Monado back to Shulk like how Blades do to their Driver)
Yup, I swear it is like the writers re-read what they wrote in this game, and made small little hints to it in Xeno 2. While not 100% the same, it is very similar. Shulk been wielding the Monado for awhile before this point, and Rex just tap Pyra's sword and she knew him. ARG! How did I not saw this before!?
SPOILERS Alvis later says that the telethia were merely the spawn. there were 4 spawn, there were 4 soldiers fighting the primary telethia. did the primary telethia transform them into telethia? And if so, It would seem that it was actually shulk who killed melia's bodyguards
Alvis: Don't spam vision buddy Also didn't Alvis basically use a Blade Special and give the Monado back to Shulk... like blades in XC2 give their weapons back to their drivers.
Franvis44 Madz If you pay attention, this thing appear quite often in the two games. It also appears on Meyneth's outfit and on Amalthus' armor, which makes sense since they are the only ones with Klaus and the three cores of the processor that know what the symbol represent.
I don't know if you already know but you should check out the curscene where Shulk comes back to life. It is trully a Tetsuya "The absolute Madman" Takahashi moment.
the concept of drivers and blades does not even canonicly exist in that universe. they likely wrote it into xc2s universe as a homage to what happened with the monado3(it originally being alvis' monado, but he never spawned it and that gave shulk the option of spawning it as his monado)
LPFan The bond between Rex and Pneuma gave him the ability to do equally impossible things with his blade weapon and ether too. What Vandham did during his last ditch was basically an improvised manipulation of ether with the strength akin to using a Monado or Aegis. Albeit, how X2 handles the mechanics of titans did somewhat disregard the ultimate functions of Zanza and Meyneth... Eh. :3
This scene is pretty interesting on a rewatch. Why are the telethia attacking here? Shouldn't they be almost serving Shulk? Or are they trying to revive Zanza? Alvis' comment about the Monado not controlling him also holds a lot more significance than it seems.
Not really. SPOILERS! As Alvis is the computer conducting the experiment and given the task to unlock Shulk's full potential in order for Zanza to free Arglas and unlock the Monado he helps Shulk with giving him Monado Purge. Also as seen in the Telethia attack on Colony 6, Alvis controls the Telethia. The "ether wavelength" thing never gets picked up again so I guess it's just a bluff made up on the spot.
SporeTres SPOILERS Although you're right, he technically did not lie about the ether wavelength thing. Alvis said the Monado drew the telethia to their location. Shouldn't it attacked Shulk & co. earlier when they were walking around Makna? In the case that he is the Monado, he actually ADMITTED that he drew them there, Every cutscene where he mentions the Monado, think of Alvis instead of the red sword. It made things a bit clearer to me. ;)
CJluvsMJ27 SPOILER That makes sense although I am not a big fan of the equation Alvis = Monado. Just because everyone has a Monado = Soul within them and Alvis is not Zanza's Soul. He's a computer.
SporeTres MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD I don't think it's possibly to equate Monado and soul, they are not one and the same. The word Monado obviously comes from the Gnostic/philosophical concept of the Monad, which implies "one". In fact, there are NOT multiple Monados, but only ONE, TRUE Monado. Alvis himself says that Shulk will have to find the one, true Monado. He actually means himself with that: Alvis is the true Monado. On the other hand. that must mean that the other Monados, Zanza's and Meyneth's, are not true Monados, but rather their "divine" souls, which hold "divine" power, but not the ultimate and true power that Alvis holds. He may only be a computer, but there's absolutely no doubt that he holds power greater than that of Zanza, Meyneth or even Shulk. The ending can be interpreted in countless ways, but I believe Alvis still exists at the end and still holds the ultimate power, but chooses never to interact with the world again, respecting Shulk's final wish.
*spoilers* 3:24 I wonder if alvis popping up next to shulk out of nowhere was him using a similar kind of superspeed like pneuma/pyramid/mythra. It’s one of my favorite parts of this scene too. He’s so playful and mysterious, really makes the player go “who the hell IS this guy?!??”
karloch I.E. “I only do shit on conmand for people who use me because I’m a weapon, which is why I helped Zanza only until a better wielder presented themselves.”
Hmmm... If I recall correctly, is it true, that when fighting Telethia (or other enemies), you can get a vision, and even if you do nothing to stall or prevent an attack, OR if you do protect against the foreseen attack, the timer will disappear without warning and the enemy will use an attack that wasn't foreseen? I think Chuggaconroy got one against the final boss...
Witht Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition in development, it'll be interesting to see if they change Alvis' appearance to connect closer to the events in XC2
Alvis literally used a Blade art then gave the blade back to Shulk LMAO
My thoughts exactly.
I feel that Alvis is actually Ontos.
oh how well this comment aged
@@alabph extremely well
Level1 special
This man is so much of an AI that his battle lines include “I can’t let you do that” and “Resistance is futile”.
The dissonance between Alvis' serene speaking voice and ultra-manly battle cries is too funny.
Kinda spoilery: Funny how after finishing the game, rewatching this cutscene is interesting because Alvis basically scripted this whole encounter.
VForceWave SPOILERS

Eh, their bodies were still there. So, probably. :3
Wait no you’re right, I never thought about that
I just realised this but alvis teleports like fucking Loki, this entire cutscene
Alvis: Don't spam vision buddy

Yet another hint towards Alvis being the missing third Aegis, Ontos.
:3
@@WhyFi59 Definitive Edition flat-out confirms this by replacing his key-shaped pendant with a red Aegis Core Crystal.

The first time I heard Alvis' voice, I immediately knew that it was Angelo from Dragon Quest VIII and I freaked out.
I felt the same way when I heard Angelo's voice for the first time a few weeks ago. And yes, I do keep revisiting this cutscene. X3
I can't wait to see this in the Definitive edition

That resurrection scene is basically Shulk resonating with an Aegis, like Rex before him.
This will teach people not to spam vision in smash😂😂😂
(SPOILERS)
“Alvis stop u dont know how to use the monado”
Alvis: “bitch i am the monado”
This scene was amazing
Mainly because Shulk learns that he controls the Monado, not the other way around
+Dave Strider S I like specifically who it is that tells him that he controls the Monado. The one that knows that Zanza is trying to control him.
Is Alvis a Blade and Shulk is Alvis' Driver?
PompousPoggs Not Shulk, Zanza.
PompousPoggs Even threw the Monado back at Shulk like in XC2
Zanza wasn't Alvis' driver at the time, since Zanza gave Shulk the ability to control the Monado

Sans The Skelepun of Monado purge was in smash Mewtwo would be screwed :/

Yes. Yes, it is. It's also telekinetic and psychokinetic
Ricardo Ortiz-Joseph
Telepathic. Psychokinetic is a made-up word.

Alvis would work so well as a Shulk echo fighter in Smash Ultimate
I love this cut scene so much, it might be my favorite.
If Xenoblade 3 uses the Blade and Driver System from 2, for DLC they should add Shulk and Alvis with Shulk being Alvis’s Driver
Or they do the omegalul and have Shulk be Alvis' blade.
hello “Ontos”
I'm still wondering how Shulk got away from the Telethia fight with seemingly no injuries.
Zanza’s soul is keeping Shulk alive.
Fancy seeing you here Mythra
this scene is so cool !

@@maxrichards3881 Yup, Alvis is still one of my favourite characters in the series. Hyped for Xenoblade Definitive Edition in 2 days!

Lord Jirall? is that you I hear?

This cutscene is so cool. Really hyped up the character of alvis as this powerful enigma
I’m just laughing at how painful it sounds when Shulk screams from getting hit.

This is gonna be how Monado Purge works for Shulk as a Blade for XC2 isn't it?

Possibly. But this scene makes me think, Shulk would be Alvis’ driver. Watch this and think of how Rex and Pyra fight together.
