This is a good tip, we have learnt so much by doing now 😂, we’ve learnt to score the line with a sharp knife, or use tape over the cut and it doesn’t tear so bad, we were getting cuts from B&Q when we bought the ply sheets from there, and their machine would shred the edges and make it look horrendous.
Thank you Di, I’m sure you can tell I’m just getting around to replying, finally have the build done so now have time for a good chat again 😂🤗. Onyx has been a star employee… or should I say employer 😂
lovin the the build .... only my view dont like the hinges showing under worktop {ones you moved for draw would in it and just sanded the cuboard front to fit } keep up the good work tho
Thank you! They’re not my fave things either but our eyes got use to it. We would need to sand the draw front down and I think it would leave too big of a gap. I’m sure there are other options but it’s done and working for now 😊
Thank you so much! It has been a long 2 weeks on this kitchen especially with all the decision changes haha. Next up storage though 🙌🏼. Hope you’re having a good Sunday 🤗
I though i was watching a roaming radfords video at 23.31with that music!! Guys your smashing this out, I am watching your video`s from your vivaro days - as that's what I have! Are you going to vanlife in Shrewsbury?
Thank you, it’s been a crazy 2 weeks on the kitchen, so glad to put it behind us for now haha. Yes, we will be at Vanlife Festival in Shrewsbury, will you be going too? I wouldn’t be surprised if all is creators are using the same music bank 😂
The build looks great. The problem with the plywood on the edges is not poor quality plywood but the B&Q saw blade. You probably use a much finer one yourselves! A bit of "tearout" is fine if you can hide it and I guess the time/work you save makes it a good option. Bet you are both desperate to get it finished so you can get back on the road.
Hi Stew, the plywood in wickes, B&Q and TFM are all different regardless of the blade 🤗. I believe it’s down to the composition of how they are made, it’s hard to explain with our physically showing but the TFM ply is made up of strands, there is 0 grain to it. B&Q has a semi grain as it’s part strandy and Wickes is 100% grain. Depending on what we are using the ply for, depends on where we get it from. E.g. our walls are all TFM ply as we’ve painted it. Whereas, our kitchen worktop we have gone for Wickes because we wanted the grain to be part of the design 🤗. I hope this helps, we were just sharing so others could look out for this when choosing where to buy their ply from 🤗
Hello, that’s amazing to hear 😊. We used satin varnish from Wilko which is food safe as long as dried properly. I personally wouldn’t chop directly on this worktop though as it will damage it so definitely use a chopping board 😊
Hiya. Looking good. It looks like you really speed through the work but got a feeling it looks that way down to your editing haha. How many full days work have you put into the build so far? Just curious cos I've only got weekends to work on my new van around a mega full on truck driving job. I wanna quit the job to smash the build, but not a chance I can 😭
Thank you so much 🤗. We have been doing the build since October and we work on it about 3/4 days a week. It’s hard for us to put a length of time on it because we film everything so everything takes twice as long. I would however say a large build takes about 8-12 weeks depending on skills, facilities and complexity of your design. Hopefully that will helps 🤗
@Nic Roams (Nic & Sam) your vids are always helpful and ive just bought my first van a vivaro to convert to a day van. Like LL but mine is called Kubo.. pack of 8 lights thats a good price
Could you do a video on prices? Like how much it costs to convert a van? Thinking of doing one myself but I just don’t know if it’d have the funds! I love your videos and have been here since the start, I think this vans becoming my fave one you’ve ever done❤
Hiya. Just reading the comments like ya do. Do you follow van monkeys? They did a conversation on a budget not that long since- possibly during covid. Think they spent about 3500 on the conversation. U reckon it's be more now- prices have shot up for sheet materials etc. Check em out anyway. That's a good account to follow too 👌
Thank you for the suggestion Jade, I’ve kept a full spreadsheet of the costs so once the build is complete we will make a video on costs just for you 🥰. Thank you for the support throughout the build too 🙌🏼
that’s a great tip too! Lol! Thanks!
You can also fill in the areas that were the “tear out” is with thin layer of wood filler to make it smooth and unnoticeable.

Your attention to detail is second to none and I love the way Lord Onyx helps out!!

Love that terracotta!
I’m obsessed with it too 😍
You both present really well on camera, explain what you're doing fantastically, and your work is really great.
Thank you so much Jane 🥰

So impressed with this build. It looks Flippin fab ❤
Thank you Lili 🥰 so proud of it but so tired 😴
The van is looking fab, love the colour of the kitchen. I was just wondering which nail gun you’re using? Cheers x
Thank you Charli 🤗. We don’t really use a nail gun but the one we have used when working on the ceiling is an Neu Master amzn.to/3OAPMpM
Hi! Thank you again for all of your super helpful videos. I wondered if you could share what you used to seal the worktops? Is it food-safe? Thanks!

The corner kitchen looks great. How will you get the gas bottle out to refill it?
Thank you so much 🤗. It’s a refillable gas canister so the refill point is external 😊

Hi guys. Can you provide a link for the cut list optimiser please. There seems to be several available. Thanks
Hey, this is the one B&Q we’re using apps.apple.com/gb/app/cutlist-optimizer/id1629462860 🤗
