That is SUPER cool that she gets a hearing aid! She is so young too, so this is a big deal. I lost hearing in my left ear for three months, and it drove me crazy. She's an amazing young woman.

I've dealt with hearing loss in my right ear and the things you don't realize when you can hear out of both ears is you have no directional hearing, any background noise will affect what you can discern what you can listen to for example if a TV is on and someone wants to talk, you have to mute the TV, you can't hear the wind blow through the grass, if you want to talk to someone with hearing loss in one ear, you should get their attention first before talking because they'll miss the first half of what you were trying to say and lastly you constantly hear all the droans about why don't you have a hearing aid. It doesn't seem major, but stack all those little things together and it definitely makes a difference in people's lives with hearing loss.

I’m deaf in both ears (gradual process), almost all my life I’ve learnt how to lip read. These days with COVID and face masks it makes it super difficult so I use my hearing aids but they aren’t 109% efficient as it only amplify’s the sound . But to all those kind people at work or around the world who have shown me what to do instead of ignoring me I thank you

Hearing impaired here 👋 in both ears. Left is severe hearing loss and right is moderate/severe (I'm teetering on the end of moderate and going into severe). I just received hearing aids last year. I've been loosing my hearing since I was a small child, I'm 44 yrs old. What a life changing experience! I'm not eligible for surgery. It will not correct the hearing loss that I have and I will go deaf at some point.
When I put the hearing aids in the crisp sounds that I could hear! I cried. I'm so happy for her! This is a blessing for her. They now have an option of over the counter hearing aids that just rolled out recently where they aren't an arm and a leg for them. However some do not have the luxury to be able to buy their own devices and it can be life changing

My 10 year old granddaughter's right ear is non-hearing, a birth defect, and there is no possibility of ever hearing. A hearing aide is useless because there are no nerves in that ear, nothing. But she's a happy girl and well adjusted.

I Was Born With A Medical Condition Called Microtia Stage 3. I Was Born With No Left Ear. No Ear Drum Or Ear Canal.
I Never Used A Hearing Aide And Can't But There Is A New Device Called A BAHA. A Bone Anchored Hearing Aide. Try Seeing If That Might Help And Work. It Works With Your Bone Of Your Skull To Basically Use Vibrations To Hear. There's More To It Though 😂 🥰 But Really, Look Into It!! I See That It Works Better Than A Regular Hearing Aide!! The Only Thing Is That There Is A Small Surgerh Where They Implant A Kind Of Screw For The BAHA To Attach To Magnetically. But It Should Be Safe And It's A Small Procedure. Check It Out!!
PS: I'm Using My Mom's TH-cam Account Right Now While Typing This. So Maybe I'll Reach Out With My Real Account If You Have Any Wuestions Or Anything!! Don't Be Surprised If You See Someone Else Responding!!

You're attitude is a disappointing at the very least since you know what some of her issues will be from experience but still have a go at her- shame on you.
There's more than one technology used for these devices, perhaps the ones that work effectively for her are more expensive technology - why can't you just be happy that a less expensive solution exists for you?. I feel sorry for your partner and relatives. You must be hard work.

@@a1smith I do NOT have an attitude. My point was she could probably find another brand or type of hearing aid that would satisfy her needs while not being so expensive. It’s unfortunate there are people like you who love to critique others’ thoughts and words to fit their agenda. I hope she finds a good solution for her problem. Better to help someone with the money that would got to the IRS, at least they can choose to do something good for someone and are in control of how that money is spent instead of gove the 10k to the IRS. Sometimes people always devalue charity woirk from companies because it's a write off for taxes. I was born with a severe hearing loss in the right ear an finally when tested found out that I could hear some sounds but could not understand spoken words. The person doing the test said that I only got about 1 out of 10 words and she was shouting into the microphone. In my older years I was a fool because I didn't do enough to protect the hearing in my good ear. And yes, I did not have driectional hearing. Toward the time I was getting ready to retire I was getting bounced around the bakery. Often times the supervisor would be near by and would be calling me (no phones) in a rather loud environment. It got to be kind of a joke because I could hear her but couldn't tell where the sound was coming from. Add to that the size of the place and how sound would bounce around in there and all the noise of the machinery. LOL I got a hearing aid recently which was a cross hearing aid. It picked up sound from both aids and one of the two would be transmitted to the other one. (Cross hearing aids.)
