Really... You'll have to keep me posted on how your tank does. Typically using tap water will result in increased algae growth, but it's not a guarantee.
Another great video. Would you recommend getting the InTank Chamber two filter compartment if I already have InTank Chamber one compartment? I'm thinking of adding another Intank product as I love the original, and chamber two is empty. What do you recommend?
Matt, I guess it really boils down to what you plan on doing with the middle chamber. Is it empty-empty? IE...no heater? I cannot fit my heater in the 3rd chamber with my pump, so I needed to use the 2nd chamber for that. If it's truly empty (especially if you love the inTank products), their 2nd chamber basket is a great option...however, don't feel like you HAVE to get it to have a healthy tank. If you want to do a refugium and have a light attached to your tank, I would say it's worth it...but if you are maybe going to add some biofiltration media (like the Gems I added), a make shift egg crate basket works just fine. A refugium is another layer of maintenance, so that's not something I want to add at this time, but a lot of people really like having them! Let me know what you decide and how it works out!
@@TheFishTankGuy It's currently empty, I had a heater in there, however my tank was running warm as I live in California. around 80 degrees F is my water temperature. Long story short, I had the FLUVAL protein skimmer but returned it and replaced it with the InTank chamber 1. I took your advice from your previous video and purchased the Media Gems on the bottom, Chemipure Elite in the middle, and InTank Filter floss on the top level. I have enough media gems (with bags) and floss to purchase the InTank Chamber two media basket? Do you think I will see a big difference? Or is it overkill you think? I started the tank the first week of January and have somewhat "fast tracked" it. I have live rock that I started to cycle it, two small clown fish, small goby, small wrasse, one shrimp. I've upgraded to the Eheim pump as well. Your thoughts?
@@mattevans8238 Sounds like you have a pretty nice setup, you'll have to let me know if you have any pictures posted online, I'd like to check it out! It seems like you have a fairly high bioload for such a small tank (4 fish), so I would definitely recommend adding the Gems you have left into the 2nd chamber for sure. They will only help things. As for the 2nd inTank media basket, if you've got the money to spend on it, it definitely is nice to have. I think based on your current setup, you could always add Purigen into the 2nd chamber as well. Purigen removes organic material from the water, I run it on all my tanks. Glad you ditched the protein skimmer...it doesn't work all that great and isn't really needed for a tank this small! Let me know what you end up doing and how it works out! Also, just a sidenote, Chemipure Elite is basically carbon and Phosguard, Chemipure Blue is essentially carbon and Purigen :)
@@TheFishTankGuy Once again, thanks for the advice. I just ordered Chemipure Blue (on amazon) that I'll put in chamber #2, along with some more gems that I already have. I'm actually going to add the gems now. I think I will wait on the InBasket media basket #2. It's another $50. I can always add it later. I'm waiting on my Reef Roids to arrive in a few days. I added some live coral. Once again, thanks for all the advice. My 6 year old is having fun with this project, but I think I'm enjoying it more. ;)
Two final questions for now (sorry), would you recommend cranking up my Eheim Pump to full capacity to get extra filtration? If think I am around 50% which seems to run decently. I am just worried about sucking in a critter when they're sleeping. Also, I've noticed my filter floss is getting fairly dirty within a few days. I have the InTank floss and don't mind changing it out. For a while it would last close to a week, I added quite a few things the last week but I can see its discolored now within a few days.
Little bit of everything in there...the one on the left is a Torch, there's a Frogspawn, numerous Zoas, and a Monti in the middle on the top. Acans on the bottom right.
New betta owner here, do I need to change the water every day? Also it’s been a day my water in my tank is cloudy, should I do something? Also for water changing do I already need filtered water to replace the old water?
I'm guilty for using tap water but I've checked my water pretty good and it's super clean I just can't afford the other water or driving an hour to get the other water so I just have to do with what I got witch is atheist clean water
Haven't been here in a while. Glad to be back.
Glad to have you, Dubs!
Informative, a good guide!
I have been using tap water but I use conditioner

Thanks for the tips!😁
Where did you get the duck bill attachment in your siphon?
What happened to your green star polyps?
This should be good!

ur tank is probably starting its nitrogen cycle thats why it got cloudy most likely.
