I enjoy watching these punts sailing in the marshes more than nearly all the other videos i watch on youtube. looks like you had perfect wind and water, if not temperature.
@KeepTurningLeft None of us Mersea boys car top, so I can't help with a video. One of the new punts was weighed at 10 stone so I think it would be a bit of an effort to do it single handed. One of the guys used to put it on his works van single handed but he had a roller on the rear roof rack.
Fantastic video, what lovely, simple boats! I've got the complete rig from an oppi and space to build, and we usually camp on holiday in Tollesbury. Could someone let me know where I can purchase some plans?
You can download them free from the following link, just copy and paste the address. www.keepturningleft.co.uk/blogs/build-a-duck-punt-the-best-fun-an-old-man-can-have-lying-down/
These really interest me but I live in Malta open sea and no salt marshes but would love to find out how these are rigged and sailed. Is there anything I can find out on? I'm tempted to rig a flat bottomed Bolger Pirogue that has more freeboard the same way? I love the simplicity.
They are great boats and so simple that you can be on the water in 5 minutes. They are definitely not suitable for open water sailing, there is very little lift in the bow and not much free board. This means they go through waves rather than over them.

I'm glad you like them, now I have a waterproof camera I will keep em coming!

Your so right. They don't need side boards.
