@@raymtl8892 Thanks … autumn is such a beautiful time to be sailing for sure! The pivoting centreboard is made of tough PVC material and it simply lifts up when it encounters obstructions on the bottom which minimizes any damage. This design of boat was originally intended to sail and row in shallow waters which is great fun! ⛵️🍁🌞
@@RustyKnorr My dry suit certainly helps extend the sailing season in spring and autumn but fortunately I didn’t need it that day. Sailing in light airs near the shore is delightful indeed!
Lovely boats, wonderful sailing. You do make me feel a lot better about sailing along our muddy and sandy shores of NJ though. smacking the board on the bottom would have been worried.
@@sailingspark9748 Glad you enjoyed the video. I can’t recall another time sailing my skiff and touching bottom so often. We purposely sailed near the first shoal because we had sailed over it earlier in the summer when we had a Melonseed regatta. The water levels then were high enough that none of the fleet found those rocks that you can see in the video!
@@McSchooner Thanks and yes, the west end of Lake Saint-Louis (Saint Lawrence River) is a delightful sailing ground for small boats like the Melonseed skiff! ⛵️😄

@@timmit3579 Thanks so much! Joyeux Noël and bonne année to you and yours … hold fast! ⛵️🎄😄
Beautiful Fall scenery on a sporty sail. Surprised how low the water levels were. I hope no damage to your keels!

My favorite type of sailing is the ghosting along in a zephyr. Lovely.
I think you need dry suits for those boats. You’d stay dryer on a windsurfer! 😂

Great video. The last one of a season is always special! The first one also! 😉
