what a funny bug. I was so confused. I pushed G when I got out of that fish. I didn't try it the 2nd time, so, I don't know if it was just a coincident or if you have a chance to get free with G during the few seconds between it grabbing you and swallowing you. anyway, they are easy to avoid and I guess they would just barely get you as long as you pay attention. sadly they will deactivate them soon again and I am pretty sure many people will cry a lot until then. like they did with the aggro boars. jeez, I loved the update 4 aggro boars, too
true and the fact that we don't get stuck in diet anymore is great. it happened so often that I ate just a tiny bit too much of any nutrient and had to wait till the 15% in a none activated hex dropped again to fill it with the right one. or that your 3rd hex has some protein left, but the 2nd got empty and so it filled the next protein there. what an annoying gameplay that was ^^
When you're swimming at the transition at 8:25, I almost thought you were at the gorge river on gateway :') made me miss gateway for a moment. I was NOT expecting your beipi to shrink down and have the fish swallow it might make sense for baby beipi, but seems a bit silly for it to be able to swallow an adult beipi! And then becoming an invisible beipi?? Somewhat sad the glitch was only on your side and you weren't invisible to others. It would have made a very fun, silly time to troll others a bit haha Love having the mombie report on new features / tests going on in the Isle when I don't have time to try them out myself. I'm very much a fan of the changes towards diets! It makes more sense, is less brutal, and offers more benefits imo.
do you mean spiro? but yeah, this river looks quite similar to the south part of the center river. personally I love that they eat even an adult beipi, but, they already said they will change that invisible would have been fun, I would have trolled some mates for sure the new diet is so much better. most and foremost because it got rid of the most annoying parts of the old system. like accidentally filling a hex with the wrong nutrient and having to wait 10 minutes till it drops to fill it with the right one. or like getting to 90% and then don't finding any food to get the last 10% to activate it. on top of that it keeps us way more busy. before it was like, 3 hex active = 30 minutes no reason to do much. now you have to keep eating and your food up to keep the bonus up
I posted on reddit a while back that I think the elite fish should hunt baby dinos (anything smaller than it) and was told I was crazy. I mentioned it happens in real life to hatchlings, but nah I was still crazy. Now they add this, so excited I hope it stays. Being a baby deino needs more challenges other than canni larger deinos.

I love the aggro fish and also loved the aggro boar of update 4. but, people will complain (as always) and the devs already said it will be changed with the next update. which is a shame and I still hope they will rethink their decision. Fish simulator was hilarious! I wonder what the size limit is for prey that a fish can swallow 🤔 Anyway, poor little deinos that have elite fish in their diet - now they are themselves in the fish's diet
they wrote the fish go for small ones incl. an adult beipi. so, I guess that is the limit. herra is twice as heavy and so it probably doesn't get swallowed anymore. I guess the limit will be around 100 kg (200 pounds) or so. anyway, they also wrote they will take this feature out of the game with the next HT update. which is pretty sad imo
Ahh the diet change is neat. I didn’t mind finding the different nutrients but it was a toss up between filling multiple of the same kind in case you didn’t eat again, or leaving room so you could even take advantage of another nutrient.
@@Sadkoi you are right and it is still better to get different nutrients, because you get more bonuses. but just in terms of growing, it doesn't matter if you have only one nutrient at 100% or different ones. which is very nice, because as you said, you don't end up with these decisions. like, nah, I fill two with the same, just to find the third nutrient 5 minutes later I also often accidentally started to fill a hex with the wrong nutrient and had to wait 10-15 minutes until it got empty again. which was so annoying and is no longer a thing. or getting a hex to 90%, but no chance to find the last 10% anytime soon, so, it was meaningless. now you get a bonus which equals the % of nutrients you have. it's so much better imo, because they got rid of all the annoying stuff
@@da.mombie I guess you get infected by being bitten by other zombies until you vomit. Then you can infect others. Stam Regen is super slow and screen goes black when you have no stam. Of course, this is all subject to what I saw that the players were thinking was going on. FAFO as per normal in The Isle 😂
There is a new feature on NA2 hordetest server, where players carry diseases and when you get infected you basically become walking corpse, herbivores can be it too😊
nutrient change is gonna be op for carnivores that nitpick on organs (like me) so you could technically have all 3 nutrients at 100% at all times, couple it with nutrient decay and some gen2 nested dinos too. I think they should add something similar (in the mechanic sense) to organs to herbivores.
interesting point. yeah, some special plants which are rare but give more nutrients would be nice would also be a reason to fight (or do sparring) for as herb
@@da.mombie I actually just watched Acronym's video on the HT and organs don't seem to give the old 40% diet they used to give per bite (still a lot more that normal chunks of meat), so I guess they balanced It more than I thought.
it's also more fun, because you are more busy to keep your diet/bonus up while growing. before it was like, 3 active hex = out of tasks for 30 minutes. now you eat every 5-10 minutes to keep it as high as possible
Sweet lord have mercy , the fact that the camera can detach from the character like that is a testament to the horrible spageti code this game is built on.
@@da.mombie Star citizen has some really good code optimizations , however , optimization is a different skill to architecting clean modular bug free code. Thats why you find these small hidden bugs and such. This is probably why isle devs struggle to add new features , and when they do , they always end up breaking other things.
@@jfht318 like I said, I have no idea of code writing, but I have a lot of experience with other games. I didn't play a single alpha game that didn't struggle with bugs all the time. as far as I know tho, multiplayer is the most difficult when it comes to bugs. even big studios like rockstar struggle a lot with bugs and glitches. GTA 5 online is still full of bugs even 10 years after it's release. the isle devs are a tiny team with less experience. I don't expect anything else than a rather "bad" code. that's also why you need a pretty decent PC to run it properly. it's far from optimized and probably unnecessarily complicated written. but again, I have no idea of code writing. I only wrote a few codes in basic on the C64 still, compared to many other alpha games I played, there aren't much more or way worse bugs in my opinion. even bohemia interactive, which is specified and very experienced in multiplayer games, struggled a lot with bugs. day-z was even worse than the isle during the alpha in my personal experience. so, in my opinion they do quite well. that said, I am in worry they might want too much in the end. as more features as more complicated it gets and with more than 40 dinos yet to come, they might reach a point where everything implodes. but again again, I have no idea. I'm just guessing here
That's interesting because Path of Titans runs fine with hardly any bugs. It's a dino game very similar to the isle, but I believe it runs on a different engine and the mechanics are not as complex as the isle, but still.
@@MissDeviancy well, it has less bugs, that's true. but like you mentioned, it also has less complicated mechanics and therefore less triggers. still, it also had some bugs when I played it and the server performance was also pretty poor on the official servers. people were lagging around like crazy at times. personally I think the PoT devs are the better code writers. but in my opinion they totally lack of passion for dinos and even gamers in general. nobody who cares about dinos would let carnis pick flowers

yeah, the new system is much better, but why was it better in 4 and 4.5? it was also bad back then imo. you also were stuck in diet and the hex always filled in order instead of need. what was the difference? can't remember I love the aggro fish
That's a hell of a bug. At first I thought you were controlling the fish after it swallowed you. Looks like elite fish are spawning more, might be worth playing a Deino again and not keep starving at 20% growth when your initial diet from schooling fish runs out.
deino will be MUCH more easy to grow now. even with one hex only you can get 100% growth bonus. if schooling fish still gives nutrients, then you will easily have 100% growth all the way through

Elite Fish do swallow young Deinos up to 13% growth(?), with Deino getting swallowed and getting death screen after 3 second, it did work for me as perhaps they intended. Perhaps they released minor fix after your game, or they did not test with Beibi or older Beibi. Really loving new Diet. Hoping Elite Fish interaction stays after Halloween, but they do need to have size adjustments, so not all Elite Fish swallow those larger than fish is. Perhaps all Catfish would be largest and most dangerous to small creatures in water. Another thing is this: I notice that Deino had poor Diet gain from Frogs, about 2-4% as fresh juvie while Elite Fishes are now aggressive, able to kill you with one hit. Perhaps i need to test more to find if it is possible to evade and kill them before they can do next attempt, otherwise Deino juvies have poor Diet gain possibilities in this new update. Didn't do testing as my game time happened during night as well as storm weather and wasn't too interested to engage against unknown number of Elite Fishes in darkness of Dam Lake.
yeah, I would also love if they keep these fish aggro. like you said, we can debate about the size they can swallow, but in general I love them specially if they are as easy to dodge as right now. I really don't think they are a huge threat other than to babu beipi and deino which are probably too slow to escape at the start. I also love the new diet and I guess deino should be even more easy to grow with it. after all you can get 100% bonus from one nutrient only. I noticed as stego today that even an entire mountain ash bush just gave 5% food. so, those might be like the frogs just a little weird stats at the moment. those are just stats which can change anytime again. they might even just do it for halloween, to make us more aggressive towards each other and spread the virus the new diet tho, is great imo
Basically you don't have to activate them anymore and the amount of diet percentage you have, that's as mu h of a buff you get. You can also choose to deplete a diet with a salt lick
I copy and paste that from another answer I gave here: you don't have to activate the hex anymore. as soon as you have 10% of carbs (3 dotts) you already get a bonus. but, the bonus depends on the % of nutrients. so, if you have 10% carbs, you only get 10% growth bonus. if you have 30% carbs then you get 30% growth bonus and so on. but, you can't fill every hex to 100% anymore. you have 100% which you have to split to 33% for each hex, 50/50 for two hex or 100% for one hex. no matter what way, as soon as you have 100% (even if they are split like 33% on each hex) you will get 100% growth bonus. in fact, it was never that easy to grow. even if you find one plant only and fill one hex to 100%, you will already have 100% grow bonus. the other bonuses are pretty much the same as they were before. if you fill protein (S diet) only, then you get a health regen bonus. if you fill carbs (3 dotts) only, then you get a stam regen bonus and if you fill lipids (two lines), then you get a fracture bonus (was scent bonus before). if you mix them you get some more bonus on top. same as it was before. the only difference is, these bonuses aren't fix anymore. they also depend on the % of nutrients. as more % of each hex you have as more bonus. this also means the bonus drops at the same time as your nutrients drop. which is great in my opinion. because it motivates us to keep our diet up. you can't activate a perfect diet and then sit with 100% growth bonus for 30 minutes in a bush anymore. because we lose most of our nutrients and therefore most of our bonuses with every minute we are just sitting around. we have to be more active while growing

if they made the freshspawns lose hunger faster, there should be more ai or more places to find food, it might be too hard to survive as a lets say carno or cera if there aint any food even after looking for it for ages

I just checked and this beipi was adult after 75 minutes. so, pretty much the same as it was before. but true, you could get a huge bonus on growth, specially if they will introduce the stones which they were talking about in the dev blog. by now I think it is rather difficult to get 270%, isn't it?
@@Oliwier2137. that's why I think it's almost impossible now. but, there are many mates with ideas out there and I thought you already saw a video of someone explaining how you can trick yourself to 270% but, they wrote in the dev blog about eatable stones which lower your stomach without losing nutrients. so, then it should be possible to get pretty high.
Its strange that every growth dramatically goes down and eating gives way less nutrients, sitting in a bush is viable anymore, not that im saying its a bad thing, makes people move around more
@@dannydelgado7056 the stomach is tiny at the start. so the first couple of minutes it drops pretty quickly, yes, but, as soon as you are juvie it does smooth down. you also don't get less nutrients, you just get them differently. before you needed 3x 100% to get 100% growth bonus. now you need only 1x 100%. so, you get less nutrients, but also need less by the same factor. even better, you don't need to activate anymore and can get 100% grow bonus with one plant only. you can also fill each hex with what is needed, without the trouble of having protein in hex 3, but 2 got empty so it starts to fill that and you end up with an inactive hex. the best part is tho, you have to be more active. once you activated the old diet, you didn't have much of a task for 30 minutes or so. therefore sitting in a bush was very tempting. now you have to move to keep your diet and the bonus up. yes, we can debate if the food drops too quickly and if they have to change these stats a little, but in general it's so much better imo

Took me around a few minutes to understand the diet system but when I joined horde test it made a lot more sense now and I really like it.

the stomach size thing is great for afk growers like you said, sounds like a good change along with the new diet rework.
it's also more fun, because you are more busy to keep your diet/bonus up while growing. before it was like, 3 active hex = out of tasks for 30 minutes. now you eat every 5-10 minutes to keep it as high as possible

@@da.mombie Star citizen has some really good code optimizations , however , optimization is a different skill to architecting clean modular bug free code. Thats why you find these small hidden bugs and such. This is probably why isle devs struggle to add new features , and when they do , they always end up breaking other things.

I didn't play a single alpha game that didn't struggle with bugs all the time. as far as I know tho, multiplayer is the most difficult when it comes to bugs. even big studios like rockstar struggle a lot with bugs and glitches. GTA 5 online is still full of bugs even 10 years after it's release. the isle devs are a tiny team with less experience. I don't expect anything else than a rather "bad" code. that's also why you need a pretty decent PC to run it properly. it's far from optimized and probably unnecessarily complicated written. but again, I have no idea of code writing. I only wrote a few codes in basic on the C64
still, compared to many other alpha games I played, there aren't much more or way worse bugs in my opinion. even bohemia interactive, which is specified and very experienced in multiplayer games, struggled a lot with bugs. day-z was even worse than the isle during the alpha in my personal experience. so, in my opinion they do quite well. that said, I am in worry they might want too much in the end. as more features as more complicated it gets and with more than 40 dinos yet to come, they might reach a point where everything implodes. but again again, I have no idea. I'm just guessing here
That's interesting because Path of Titans runs fine with hardly any bugs. It's a dino game very similar to the isle, but I believe it runs on a different engine and the mechanics are not as complex as the isle, but still.
@@MissDeviancy well, it has less bugs, that's true. but like you mentioned, it also has less complicated mechanics and therefore less triggers. still, it also had some bugs when I played it and the server performance was also pretty poor on the official servers. people were lagging around like crazy at times. personally I think the PoT devs are the better code writers. but in my opinion they totally lack of passion for dinos and even gamers in general. nobody who cares about dinos would let carnis pick flowers

yeah, the new system is much better, but why was it better in 4 and 4.5? it was also bad back then imo. you also were stuck in diet and the hex always filled in order instead of need. what was the difference? can't remember

That's a hell of a bug. At first I thought you were controlling the fish after it swallowed you. Looks like elite fish are spawning more, might be worth playing a Deino again and not keep starving at 20% growth when your initial diet from schooling fish runs out.
deino will be MUCH more easy to grow now. even with one hex only you can get 100% growth bonus. if schooling fish still gives nutrients, then you will easily have 100% growth all the way through

Elite Fish do swallow young Deinos up to 13% growth(?), with Deino getting swallowed and getting death screen after 3 second, it did work for me as perhaps they intended. Perhaps they released minor fix after your game, or they did not test with Beibi or older Beibi.
Really loving new Diet. Hoping Elite Fish interaction stays after Halloween, but they do need to have size adjustments, so not all Elite Fish swallow those larger than fish is. Perhaps all Catfish would be largest and most dangerous to small creatures in water.
Another thing is this: I notice that Deino had poor Diet gain from Frogs, about 2-4% as fresh juvie while Elite Fishes are now aggressive, able to kill you with one hit. Perhaps i need to test more to find if it is possible to evade and kill them before they can do next attempt, otherwise Deino juvies have poor Diet gain possibilities in this new update.
Didn't do testing as my game time happened during night as well as storm weather and wasn't too interested to engage against unknown number of Elite Fishes in darkness of Dam Lake.
yeah, I would also love if they keep these fish aggro. like you said, we can debate about the size they can swallow, but in general I love them specially if they are as easy to dodge as right now. I really don't think they are a huge threat other than to babu beipi and deino which are probably too slow to escape at the start. I also love the new diet and I guess deino should be even more easy to grow with it. after all you can get 100% bonus from one nutrient only. I noticed as stego today that even an entire mountain ash bush just gave 5% food. so, those might be like the frogs just a little weird stats at the moment. those are just stats which can change anytime again. they might even just do it for halloween, to make us more aggressive towards each other and spread the virus the new diet tho, is great imo

Basically you don't have to activate them anymore and the amount of diet percentage you have, that's as mu h of a buff you get. You can also choose to deplete a diet with a salt lick
I copy and paste that from another answer I gave here:
you don't have to activate the hex anymore. as soon as you have 10% of carbs (3 dotts) you already get a bonus. but, the bonus depends on the % of nutrients. so, if you have 10% carbs, you only get 10% growth bonus. if you have 30% carbs then you get 30% growth bonus and so on.
but, you can't fill every hex to 100% anymore. you have 100% which you have to split to 33% for each hex, 50/50 for two hex or 100% for one hex. no matter what way, as soon as you have 100% (even if they are split like 33% on each hex) you will get 100% growth bonus. in fact, it was never that easy to grow. even if you find one plant only and fill one hex to 100%, you will already have 100% grow bonus.
the other bonuses are pretty much the same as they were before. if you fill protein (S diet) only, then you get a health regen bonus. if you fill carbs (3 dotts) only, then you get a stam regen bonus and if you fill lipids (two lines), then you get a fracture bonus (was scent bonus before). if you mix them you get some more bonus on top. same as it was before.
the only difference is, these bonuses aren't fix anymore. they also depend on the % of nutrients. as more % of each hex you have as more bonus. this also means the bonus drops at the same time as your nutrients drop. which is great in my opinion. because it motivates us to keep our diet up. you can't activate a perfect diet and then sit with 100% growth bonus for 30 minutes in a bush anymore. because we lose most of our nutrients and therefore most of our bonuses with every minute we are just sitting around. we have to be more active while growing

if they made the freshspawns lose hunger faster, there should be more ai or more places to find food, it might be too hard to survive as a lets say carno or cera if there aint any food even after looking for it for ages
carno could be a problem, dunno, but I played cera today and it was pretty easy. the scent range is that huge, you find bodies all over the place

@@Oliwier2137. that's why I think it's almost impossible now. but, there are many mates with ideas out there and I thought you already saw a video of someone explaining how you can trick yourself to 270% but, they wrote in the dev blog about eatable stones which lower your stomach without losing nutrients. so, then it should be possible to get pretty high.

Its strange that every growth dramatically goes down and eating gives way less nutrients, sitting in a bush is viable anymore, not that im saying its a bad thing, makes people move around more
@@dannydelgado7056 the stomach is tiny at the start. so the first couple of minutes it drops pretty quickly, yes, but, as soon as you are juvie it does smooth down.
you also don't get less nutrients, you just get them differently. before you needed 3x 100% to get 100% growth bonus. now you need only 1x 100%. so, you get less nutrients, but also need less by the same factor.
even better, you don't need to activate anymore and can get 100% grow bonus with one plant only. you can also fill each hex with what is needed, without the trouble of having protein in hex 3, but 2 got empty so it starts to fill that and you end up with an inactive hex.
the best part is tho, you have to be more active. once you activated the old diet, you didn't have much of a task for 30 minutes or so. therefore sitting in a bush was very tempting. now you have to move to keep your diet and the bonus up.
yes, we can debate if the food drops too quickly and if they have to change these stats a little, but in general it's so much better imo
