    VERY off topic here, but I'm very fond of the "up to date" explenation. It adds a flavor of cientific realism to the organitation, but it also works with the ever changing nature of enigmorphs in a way. Science is always evolving with us, with time. With the exception of (maybe) Math, most sciences don't get to be in a "solid" state, not for long anyway. They evolve.
    The orientation method of worldbuilding really gets your head in the mood, I was tempted to start making notes! Heck, I want to make some enigmorphs now because of this. The presentations have so much charm, but they're also very clear and concise with their information.

    I really like how the types work in relation to their type slots, especially when there is an empty slot before a type. It really makes the whole “rock, paper, scissors” dynamic all the more interesting.

      Yeah and it makes the machups way different. You could have 2 enigmorphs with the same type that would have way different interactions

    The Hazement cycle has to be my favorite Enigmorph cycle so far! I’m a huge fan of yokai and the Baku inspirations are here and the variants based on types of dreams is super creative!

    I always love seeing Enigmorph updates, there's really nothing else like them and I cannot wait to see what this series evolves into. Although I think the Flying type should be renamed to the Aerial type, in keeping with the theming. And also the triangle says 'strong agaisnt' instead of 'strong against'.

    Here are some thoughts from me:
    Firstly i think the new typing idea is cool on many levels. I like that each type seems to have their own exploration abilities, and I think thats a great thing. I think it would work very well if the game was open world, or if there were semi open-world maps. Then you wouldnt be forced to catch an Enigmorph you didnt like, just because of its type.
    I like we finally have confirmation that combat is a mechanic, because it would feel a little weird if these scary monsters werent hostile or could be used to fight. I like how you calculate your Enigmorphs strenght to, but I wish you shared ypu vision on how combat would work. I think many people imagine it to be turn based, but I think it could also work like more action based.
    Even though i like the typing system, i am worried about 2 things. First is the fact that it can be hard to balance, because if you give an enigmorph to many good types that counter everything else it could be op. You would have to be very careful with what types you give them is what im saying. Thematically im also worried that it would betray the enigmorphs designs, if small way less menacing enigmorphs would be huge counters for them. Imagine and Apex getting clobbered by a tiny cloud because its typing countered it. I think personally it would feel weird if bigger and more menacing enigmorphs werent better for combat.
    Last thing is i liked that you teased there might be weather and day/night mechanic in the game. I think it would make the world feel way more alive if different enigmorphs were more commong in different weather/time or even exclusive to them.
    Anyway even though im critical, I still LOVE what im seeing here, keep it up!

    Every time I see a video in this series I get so excited. This series has such a strong identity that separates it from existing monster collector themes. Plus, weird eldritch horror adjacent art has always been a favorite of mine, can't wait to see this fleshed out to completion!

    The PAS and TAS system lends itself toward a TTRPG, at least that’s my reflexive response. I think it’s a great way to simplify stat interactions as compared to having 2 attack stats and 2 defense stats as is common in RPGs.
    If you plan on giving them abilities/attacks like a Pokémon would have, I think there’s a lot of room for exploration in having the abilities scale off of PAS or TAS ie. Zephyrise using a Wind blast that does damage equal to 1/2 its PAS. or Hazement using a drowsiness ability to weaken an opponents PAS equal to 2 times Hazement’s TAS. that concept is very exciting to me. Good for thought!

      Yeah honestly I was thinking this would work great for a ttrpg I could see myself playing this with my friends over discord and I haven’t really seen a good ttrpg with its own monster taming element as the focus before so there might be room in the market for it.

    I think this is the coolest thing i have ever seen. And as prospective videogame designer i LOVE how you have made every enigmorph feel like it could be usefull and not just in combat. You could easily have the enigmorphs help you out by clearing crouds or wipeing witnesses minds clean. Love this project and hope it finds great success!

I feel like I’m a bit confused about the one example you gave where the enigmorph had no primary typing. I was under the impression all enigmorphs were organized into one of the three primaries? Maybe I missed something

    Loving the new typing work you've done Jack. I'm especially excited that the subtypes aren't exclusive to the primaries (the Construct/Flying Zephyrise for example), that adds so much variety that I'm looking forward to seeing. I also love that the variants are more than just color changes, that feels really good.
    I also really like that the position of the type in the 3 slots matters. So that 2 enigmorphs with the same types in different slots are meaningfully different, that's pretty cool. I'm curious if there is a reasoning behind which slot is filled, like what makes something have fire in slot 1 vs slots 2 or 3?
    I'm a bit "concerned" (too strong a word but I can't think of a better one) about no-type losing to any type as if it were a bad type matchup. That makes it seem like it would always be better to have more types, since the worst case scenario is still a +1 to the opponent, but it could also be a +0 or +1 for you. Maybe making the standard type matchups +2 and the no-type matchup +1 would alleviate that, or maybe your other ideas that you alluded to for combat will matter more, or maybe enigmorphs with more types are meant to be stronger (I don't recall if nascents always have 1, harbingers 2, and apex 3).
    Either way the project is looking great. The formatting with seminar + outro is a great format, I'm glad you're sticking with it. Happy new year!

    frankly I was never big into pokemon - didn't grow up playing it.
    But I gathered a small collection of cards just because i was in awe of the sheer creatvitity that every pokemon displayed., Sure I think the childish aesthetic isn't really to my taste, but I gotta admit how impressive it is that they managed to create so many of them without too many "we've already done this before"
    Even as i've grown older, I've always treasured uniqueness and creativity, which Enigmorphs are postiively steeped in. I hope that i can create things with such novelty and brilliance, with just as much skill and proficiency.

    Zephyrise looks really cool! For some reason I imagine it being a bit silly? if that makes sense. Almost like Groot where it can be a bit clueless sometimes and leads to some funny moments. It definitly would be on my team when/if this becomes a reality.

    i like the idea that, in universe, Jack is just some guy who waits in the hallway to tell us about how he's posting pictures of enigmorphs and people in the orginisation on a free website for artists, and we could use it too! also accidentally(?) causing us to be late.

    I am loving the multimedia nature of the Enigmorphs. A couple thoughts came to mind when you were covering the type chart interactions. With some tweaking I can see this being a very engaging creature collecting TTRPG. In terms of video game, maybe a system similar to Octopath Traveler where you have to expose enemies weaknesses would be a fun battle mechanic.

    Personally I think this way of typing them is very fitting especially given that some go through the progress of regression and very few are stable. I can also easily imagine a scene where multiple scholars are discussing what typing a specific Enigmorph is after it displays a new ability so they have to re-classify it

    First of all, I'd like to say I've been following your stuff for a while now and I think this is the most interesting and entertaining stuff you've made to date. I really like theory-crafting for monster tamer games and this is the kind of stuff I get up to in my free time, just like figuring out what would happen if THIS is what the monsters were like and THIS was the world. That said, this type system raises a lot of questions from me:
    1. Some of the type advantages seem a little off to me. Not to be all "hey this is different from Pokemon so it's wrong," but I feel like a world in which Flora has a distinct advantage over Fire as a type is confusing. The setting seems a little more physically grounded (you include descriptions of what the Enigmorphs are capable of and focus on things other than combat abilities, which I love) yet I feel it would be bizarre to see a Fire-based creature be thwarted by a plantlike one, unless it had some kind of Aquatic theme (hey, another matchup that doesn't quite track). For that matter, what about something like the Fae type? Most Fae in folklore are traditionally weakened by manmade items, particularly iron, yet possessing the Fae type gives an Enigmorph advantage over Constructs.
    2. What is the point of primary types if not every Enigmorph possesses one? The way the narration went, it seemed like the primary typing was a designation of the Enigmorph's origins, so does an Enigmorph not having a primary type mean that it didn't stem from anything? Ok, that works for Hazement because it's an immaterial creature born from dreams, but what about Parrafeign, which seems to be made from candle wax but is simply Fire and Light? Furthermore, is there a design benefit to not giving every Enigmorph a primary type (besides Hazement and similar creatures, which I can understand).
    3. Why group the types together like you have? I love the concept of putting types under an umbrella, and you have something going with the tertiary typings (Demon being the extreme of Fauna, Fae being the extreme of Flora, and Construct being the extreme of Minera are all wonderful ideas) but the secondaries are all over the place. I assume the reason they're grouped together as such is to facilitate the "type triangle," which is a great thought but leads to some dissonance that I pointed out above.
    Please, PLEASE don't take this as me saying I hate all of this. This is the most I've engaged with a video I randomly came across on TH-cam in... basically ever. I love your designs and I am beyond happy to find someone else who does this kind of thing (and is way more artistically talented). I just like thinking about this stuff and would love to know your thought process behind some of these ideas. Good luck with everything!

    Depending on the exact time period for your world, I think it would be interesting to see something retro video game based. Now, I know it’s been done before, but actually designing an enigmorph that has texturing resembling the low resolution, low poly textures and renderings of an old game would be fun. I mostly thought of his because I was watching Kane Pixel’s “People Still Live Here” video, and realized how much the aesthetic speaks to me, and I[m sure many others who are nostalgic for the genre of game.

    I like the direction this is headed! I had some worries about the type system but with these tweaks I think it could be great.
    I'd caution about avoiding mechanical bloat if this is intended to result in a real game though! The #1 indie dev killer is probably overscoping/scope creep. If you want enigmorphs to be able to do a ton of stuff (firelighting, dream changing, and a million other things) each one of those abilities is gonna need to be very simple to represent.
    If you're gonna leverage text a ton "the squirrel wants to talk to you. Should your freaky treeguy use animal speech?" Then it should be doable though!

    Ok, So here's a question, how many Enigmorph should a Hunter be able to befriend, where Pokemon lets you be able to have 6? The vibe for the hunters feels almost like digimon, when you should have a very deep bond with an Enigmorph.

    I may sound mildly off my rocker, but I could see this concept in its best form as a ttrpg/deck builder, whether digital or physical no idea. Enigmorphs would be the "cards", which is like the fill in for pokeballs as the way you transport them around, and I'd say they should be based off of things like cartomancy (tarot readings are a type of cartomancy). Front would be the image with the basic health, type, and whatever else like possibly defence or smth, and the back would be their abilities which can be used in and out of combat. You would still have a character sheet with your common sort of stats, but abilities you again would be buffs or additional abilities for your enigmorphs.
    Humans, as a rule, are weak to all enigmorph types, which is why you really want to have your enigmorphs taking the damage while you stay out of combat. There could also be weapons, which would be neutral damage, but could be enchanted to gain the properties of an enigmorph type. I imagine there could be ways for humans to gain an enigmorph type defensively along the same lines.

    The tweaks on the typing system are inspired! I noticed a few types have... disappeared? Shuffled? I should probably go... reacquaint myself in the HHC archives. But, regardless, progress is progress. :3
    Also, you have, at the same time, the coolest and most terrible dreams. I'm almost jealous. Almost. :s

    Lucernamerice? If thats how you spell it, is amazing! It reminds me of Dragalge which is good because I LOVE that mon, but its also got Jellyfish and plesiosaur elements which are just even more things I love! SO many of these designs are incredible and I am amazed with every new Seminar!

    Btw. I Love the Video. Some thougts I had about:
    I do love all types and their logos. Even tho electric beeing blue confused me a little.
    The Type Advantage Score seems to low making the base stats of Enigmorphs way to important. That makes the game very "stat-checky", which isnt the best form of balance in every game.
    Smth i suggest in one of the last videos is to make the enigmorph variants stronger than regular enigs. That would make people want to hunt those guys even more and in the long run you would get a benefit of using these special guys (Unlinke in Pokemon Go where Shinys where cool to have, but dont have a lot of value since you would never use them over better mons with betters IVs). My Idea is to give variants a chance to unlock a 4th typing giving them an strong boost in combat. Any rare Enigs have a higher change unlocking it.
    God damn it, I LOVE Gibaku and all its variants!
    Keep it up. I really hope I will enjoy your game as much as I enjoy your videos and Enigmorph designs!

    The one thing I will say is that, purely based on the scoring system, it is always advantageous to have more types because not having a type in a slot is exactly as bad as having a types that is a weaker matchup for the TAS, but the type gains one via power advantage. There may be other factors to offset this, but as it is a three-type enigmorph is always stronger than an identical one with only two of its types.

    I don't know why, but I feel like the narrator of these seminars is also a enigmorph working with the HHC and that's why the only way they can discipline HHC recruits is because they are the projector or something. Like the robot bus driver from Black Ops 2 Zombies.

    I don't remember if this has been established anywhere, but are there plans for this to become a real game? Every new creature design and development made makes me want to explore this world myself! I can just imagine being in an oldtimey town with cobblestone paths, slinking down a dark alleyway on a rainy night only to see a faint glow in the dark... enticing me forward... controlling me...

    I'm interested in how you plan to represent certain concepts in types. For example, chorrice represents ice with the flying type, which I think is very cool. Would you be willing to represent the same real world "element" with different types? Like ice also being present in an aquatic type design? Or do you plan to keep consistency?
    By the way, that dream sounded horrifying. I thought my own dreams had some good creature design potential but jeeeeez

Do we merely report it in or do a full investigation, what if we discover that they're of a new type or a combination not documented yet the enigmorph are...benign?

      We never encourage Hunters to engage against overwhelming odds without proper reinforcement. If you suspect an individual is interacting with Enigmorphs in a suspicious way, report it to your immediate supervisor and HHC administrators will decide what the best course of action should be

    If all the secondary types of fauna beat all the different types of flora, maybe it would be a good idea to keep them all in the same colour, to make it easier to learn and understand.
    Like in Fire Emblem heroes for example. Green beats blue, blue beats red, red beats green. No matter if it's an axe or spellbook or bow. If it's green, it beats blue.
    Since poison would beat fire here, maybe all the flora types should have the same coloration or at least something in the design that is always the same colour. Maybe the ring around the actual symbol. You could make it green for all the flora types.
    Otherwise you'd have all these fancy colours you have to remember, but in reality it's just 3 types, when it comes to combat.
    But maybe that's only the basics and you are already planning on more complex type interactions. Like water beating fire, even tho water is a fauna-subtype and fire would be mineral.

    This is so unbelievably peak... how did you come up with something so compelling while still having creative freedom when monster-making? I keep coming up with cool elemental systems but have difficulty tying it down to a cohesive world. I guess just having a consistent main conflict...?
    I think part of how you made it original is the twist of it being past-based. It's an original setting that does it, perhaps.

    amazing work as always, jack! one quick question about the type slots: do the typings being in certain slots despite there not being typings in other slots have any specific meaning, or is that more for "game mechanic" reasons? also, what does the removal/moving of a type slot mean for an enigmorph (e.g., rhythmis's fauna typing changing into the flying typing and moving to the last slot, with its place in the first slot being replaced by its void typing)?

      When calculating a Type Advantage Score, we line up the three type slots of both Enigmorphs and compare the types in each slot. The position of the type in these slots will affect how these calculations are carried out. Having the same type in different type slot may change the outcome of a matchup

    This would make a BANGING card game, the typing and power systems would translate pretty well on a physical (all be it, convoluted) card game, or an online game. Maybe with packs/cards being unlocked in a story mode? or an rogue lite mode (kinda like Legends of Runaterra)
    The variants could even bee in different "regional" booster packs, like a small town or abandoned factory themed pack would be fun.

      ALSO the enigmorphs could begin every game with their nascent forms, getting stronger and becoming their harbinger and apex forms as they get wins (maybe with a limit of one "signature" cycle with tertiary typing? Making them the hardest to get in a battle but the strongest as well with that +3)

    If this does get made into a video game, expanding on the HM system pokemon introduced could be really interesting gameplay-wise. Having an obstacle that could be gotten past in various ways using various Enigmorphs could be interesting in the same way the latest Zelda uses different "summons" to achieve the same end goal. Focusing on player autonomy rather than "you must use rock smash to get past this boulder" sounds like fun. Why break the boulder when I already have an Enigmorph that can hover me over it, or another one that could phase through certain kinds of matter, or another one that might be able to just shrink it?
