- After the Taliban broke open the jails after taking over Afghanistan last month, many of those who had gone from Kerala to join ISIS between 2016-18 and subsequently got captured by Afghan forces, too were freed. ThePrint visited the residences of multiple people who had fled to Afghanistan in the last few years to join ISIS, and spoke to their family members about what they perceive led to their gradual “radicalisation” and whether or not they want their children to return home-- and at what cost.

When they joined Islamic State, they became its citizens. So, according to Indian law, they are no longer Indian citizens.
Not really. According to law they still possess Indian citizenship because Indian government has not denounced it legally.
Them being associated with terrorism, which is a horrible crime against humanity, is another matter all together.
That happens only if we recognise Isis as a country which is out of the question. Unless they took Afghan citizenship they're still legally Indians unless the government takes away their citizenship, which they probably should do.

I am from Kerala , this one case of it... There are 100 more cases.... Official estimate is between 150-200..... The Kerala Story is showing such incidences of just 3 girls.... Note : PFI and its affiliates were the main culprit, they chopped a professor named Joseph by accusing Blasphemy in 2010

The 150-200 isis recruits is from entire India. Not from Kerala alone..
Only 66 of them went to fight or join isis.
Of that only 13 are from Kerala.
Only 6 are women from Kerala
And only 3 are converts (2 Christian and 1 hindu). Remaining 3 are M.
Even the 3 converts - 2 married men who were Christian converts to Islam.
Out of a population of 6 crore. This is less than 1 in a crore population.
150 isis from a population of 17 crore Indian Ms. Less than 1 in a million.
Compare with Britain and Europe who have 1500+ isis recruits from a population of only 40L Ms.
And PFI has nothing to do with isis radicalization.
Many of the radicalized come from a single district in Kerala - Kasaragod. And many of them were closely related.

I understand the feeling of a mother. Even if I was in her place I would have fought the same way for my daughter. What is accurate? This is the only ONE single case of H conversion to isis from entire Kerala.
Total of 6 women from Kerala went to isis. Out of that only 3 are converts - 2 Christian and 1 H.

I feel so sorry for the mother who has to bear such pain, facing both societal boycott and missing her daughter and grand daughter. I wish no mother has to face such hard times, I've seen her daughter's interview in 2020, she had zero regrets. Its better to not have kids then to have those who ruin their whole lives for religious bigotry.
The problem arises when the majority peaceful in a community stay silent on the acts of the minority violent members of the same community. It is very important for peace loving Hindus and Muslims of India to be louder in their denouncement of extremist actions and statements from their own community members. This is the only way to build trust.
Yeah I agree. I am no expert but from my understanding: Such Extremist thinking does have its roots in the teachings in Quran. Until unless the religious teachings in madrasas are themselves reformed, there will always be some who will get radicalized. Muslim religious leaders dont want to do this because it will take away their legitimacy.
Also another big obstacle is the Saudi funding of many madrasas. Their wahhabism sect of islam is actually the major cause for all these issues. They not only fund many madrasas but make sure that scholars teach the wahhabism sect.
They have funded many such places in South India. If u see Turkey than its quite modern place even though majority are Muslims. Because they do not allow this type of ideology to grow.
