Thanks Rob for your video, and your rant is good! Like you, so many of us hope Fantasy make big changes for next year (will they?!) . For me biggest one is DNF, imo -5 or -10 fair. DNF is mostly luck, -20 is far too high give that only the top 3-4 performing drivers in a weekend get 20+ points. Really feel for you getting priced out of MCL, FER, NOR, LEC/PIA base. Woken me up to face that I can afford it, but wouldn't take much for me to get priced out, prob should lock it on for COTA even if it means double Sauber (prob best to ignore C tier lottery, eg. ALB, now anyway)
I think they should make a few tweaks next season. I don't know which ones but I am confident that they will get some right! I think it's a reality check for me this season that budget building with B tier assets next season is a top priority for me because those early season swings have also set me back! I think if I were you, I'd definitely lock in 3x at COTA, I would for you or anyone else to get priced out like I have!
While I completely agree that the DoD is a farce in fantasy it does almost always go to a driver on their last race. Vettel and Kimi (I believe he won it after retiring the car mid race) in recent years both got it on their last race so it is something that can be anticipated. The fastest lap was an added bonus for me after punting on Danny Ric for the DoD. It's possibly the only decision I've got correct since Monaco though 😅 and I suppose I'm now realistically forced into a transfer but at least I got some budget out of it
My friend I have a question for you ; I have limitless as well as the 3x , do you recommend to use limitless in Cota and 3x in Qatar ? Cheers ! And thanks for your advise !
It largely depends on your budget. If you can easily afford NOR and PIA (without compromising on two premium constructors) and they look objectively the best car (around P1 to P3/4) at COTA FP1 and SQ, then I think go with them. If it's not entirely clear who the best two drivers are, then I would use Limitless and save the 3x for one of the following two sprint weekends to build up a bit more budget to get NOR/PIA if you can't afford them currently
Definitely agree on Mercedes doing well the next couple, im thinking the Ferrari high speed corner problems return. I held Zhou to save 3 transfers and sorry to hear you’ve had a run of bad luck. I had George for his DNF and DSQ and know how you feel!
I would like to see Lewis bounce back at COTA after that DSQ last year. Will have to see if it's them or Ferrari as the better constructor in practice and sprint quali! Thanks for the words of encouragement - It's all good, luck is just a bigger factor than I probably gave it credit for this season! But I will keep pushing and stay positive until the final race.
I have the same. Both GPs are the same for the chips. Known tracks, lots of data. Only one FP. But if you wanna capitalize, you gotta use these chips on sprint weekends
It is a tricky one let me tell you! Limitless I think has a bit more flexibility because its unlimited trades, so you could in all honesty save it for the last race if you really wanted to. I'm of the view 3x is best used at COTA or Brazil, if you have a budget of around $125m+ to get in McLaren drivers (or even Max)!
fantastic venting session, rob! i couldn't agree with you more either. i was top 50 in the world at one point and now i'm struggling to stay in the top 1k because of 3 DNFs in a row. it has to change. i could maybe stomach it if it was the driver's fault and they crashed the car but when it's through absolutely no fault of their own i think it's really unfair to get hit with such a harsh penalty if their car just breaks down on them. we put so much thought and consideration into choosing our teams ... to have your weekend ruined by just bad luck is really frustrating. isn't scoring next to zero points enough if your driver doesn't finish? i'd like to see them ditch the -20 penalties and bring back things like beating your teammate and streaks for extra points instead of the stupid DOTD and fastest lap. look! your ranting got me ranting! 😆
Thank you Glenn - glad to see so many agree (I thought I was going a bit crazy for a second, maybe I was)! I think the scoring (and by extension the pricing) has to change. The variance is insane compared to many other fantasy sports I have played and can really turn a good week into a bad week in a split second (a la DSQs or last lap DNFs)! The scoring in 2022 was so much better, even if the prices were so grossly inflated by the hacker who did it! I'd love to see the DNF penalty reduced to 10 points (and maximum positions gained/lost up to that amount too) like they had then. Would reward a much greater degree of strategy than what it currently does!
Rant on!! You must be reading all our thoughts. Red Bull is the only option for Ric so he’s going to help them if possible but if it’s possibly your last F1 race what a way to go out. I’m at 126.7 and have the budget to bring in both Nor & Ver w/Mcl & Fer so I’m leaning 3x chip at COTA. I don’t want to get priced out if I wait for a later sprint.
You're spot on Joe - if you can afford Max, I would absolutely get him in for COTA if the car looks cracking. Don't bother waiting and risk being priced out of desired lineups like I have the last three weeks!
I think the best way to solve the problem with fastest lap team orders coming from Red Bull to RB is to make a rule change to not allow one company to own two teams. It would stop future potential problems of Tsunoda giving Verstappen a tow or just the unfair advantage of them having a team to test out drivers.
Now that I have finished watching, I do have a question. Should us guys with a need to build our rank through some differential maybe wait until after COTA to deploy the 3X since I have a feeling there will be a massive use of it in Austin? Or maybe while we know MCL is the best car now go ahead with it? At least we get the Sprint quali "preview...."
I have a question for you before I answer Mike - is your 6k rank in desperate need of a differential? If your target is 1k, maybe? but if its 5k, I think you can easily breakthrough without needing to go too against the norms. But I think you are spot on with usage at COTA - will be the most popular as this track has a lot of data/history trends (overtakes, driver performance etc). But I think knowing the expected performance of McLaren is a nice "peace of mind" when using such an important chip
@@f1fantasyhub hey, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to come off as a prick. I just figured anyone outside the 5K zone might want to go against the pack as it were.

I tell you what Darren, I'm thinking of being a little different if with three races left I haven't made much headway and have some serious fun with my team! Appreciate the really nice comment - means a lot!
@@f1fantasyhub True, but here's the ticket. Being in the top 1% gives you the 'right to buy the T". Wouldn't cost them anything. Or just a flat out giveaway for the top 1,000.
Hey Rob, I'm in a very similar position to you, with MCL FER 2x NOR RUS ALB ZHO COL, a 124M budget and 2 free transfers. I could take a -10 for the triple MCL + MER build you were hoping for, do you think it will be worth it? I don't think so, because of those RBR upgrades. Planning on autopilot for Brazil (definitely if it rains!) and 3x in Qatar, since MCL are so strong there.
McLaren had such a good race at Qatar last year didn't they! If Red Bull don't deliver then, then go all in on MCL, but if you're concerned about Max absolutely crushing it, then I completely agree it can't hurt to wait a bit. Autopilot at Brazil is chef's kiss!
If Lawson is driving for VCARB as everyone seems to think he will be in COTA, what $$ will he be? Maybe he will be cheap enough to allow for the triple McLaren.
I honestly need RBR and Max (and Perez) to be good again. With everyone all in on McLaren, I have no real solid ways to use all the budget I built up, in a positive way, unless it makes sense to run MCL and RBR with Lando and Piastri. Like you said, extra budget just to use an Albon or Hulk over Sauber is such a little gain for having like 5 more million than the average, and one dnf wipes it all away as well.
I agree Christian. I think Red Bull and/or Perez could be the easiest route to go differential and I didn't address this in this video but will in my final thoughts in more detail. If the upgrades ARE effective, then the constructor would be a great way to cover Max's points without paying full price for him. I think in your case, being able to afford Max and use that money effectively on a sprint with two premium drivers would be a huge advantage if it worked out!
also the DOTD was not really important as basically every team had Norris anyway. Also the pain of the Albon DNF was bearable as literally every competitive team had him anyway 😅
@@benwitthaus6133 you’re spot on with that. Not a huge difference in either scenario, but it still needs to change as there have been several races this season where the driver awarded DOTD has been controversial and impactful to the outcome in fantasy as well
A different topic. What overall global position is a good result. I mean sure there are 2.4 million playing, but how many are actually playing. I mean I am 282 or sth like that and feel like everything went wrong. 😅 so I think top 100 is a decent result. what are you guys opinions. Am I getting it wrong somewhere?
