Not to be that guy, but isn’t that the MG HS pictured at 0:28 not the ZS. The only reason I picked it up is I quite like the look of the ZS(t) over the HS that looks a bit bulky.
Touch machine now I’ve seen everything , banging doors yes that’s another brilliant test , bet that’s really important , hard plastics banging the front
A decent looking light SUV, but 40 grand. Even the starting price of 30 grand is a bit rich for a car that is just a jacked up Clio, a small SUV like the CX-30 or Kona is what I’d expect for $30k+
Because I have the car, the Captur is indeed a jacked up version of Clio, but IMO significantly so. It offers significantly more space at a compact size, and it is heavier which makes it much better to drive in the highway. It is much more spacious and versatile than the Kona and the CX-30 for example, especially in the rear and boot. Is it as good a drive as the CX-30? Probably not, but still it drives pretty well. In comparison the CX-30 does not really have an SUV-like driving position it feels like driving a hatchback. The CX-30 is also more expensive than the Captur. Would I pay 40k for the Captur? Hell no, but then again you don't need to get the top trim. For what it's worth, the car ticks many, many (if not all) boxes in areas that matter for small families and very few cars do in this category. E.g. I wouldn't buy the CX-30 regardless of pricing because the rear and boot are simply not good enough for me. I bought this car whereas initially I was aiming for the Qashqai or something similar. If you live in a city where large size is a problem, this car will enable you to be comfortable both in the city and the highway, without sacrificing as much space as you would expect.
I don’t know why manufacturers use privacy glass on the rear windows but not on the front ? It’s like putting alloy wheels on the rear but steel rims on the front , it looks totally ridiculous to me , something I’d have to fix before showing my new car to anyone , also privacy glass offers no sun protection so when you tint the front windows you still need to put clear tint on the rear to gain sun protection. As for heated seats , I rather cooled seats in Australia, manufactures always put heated in before cooled , I tend to get hot when sitting in a seat for long drives when driving - never cold though.
F1 inspired. If they want a car with that image bring back the Clio RS. Mine was written off in a hailstorm and I couldn't get a new one. It was a cracking little car.
Crazy expensive, can't see them selling that many in Australia given the sheer amount of competition and most other brands are under $40k that have better engines
I like the look of the Captur, but what is the owner's cost compared to the Asian market? Parts & service etc. Paul, do you have a slight issue with the start/stop button on the left? I like them much better on the right-hand side on the dash. Must be visible without hinderance, unlike my son's VF SSV Commodore. Suzuki Swift does it well.
Looks like a fun little car. I'm looking at a small car or SUV and have narrowed it down to the Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo, the new Skoda Fabia or a Polo GTI. I'm just trying to find that balance between fun and practicality. The Captur would fit the bill but that rear space is not impressive at all.
Looks really nice. Sadly it's late in South Africa and it will find, when it arrives that, the Haval Jollion has taken over. Good looking and probably more fuel efficient than the Chinese.
Hi Paul. To your knowledge, can one swop the manufacturer reverse camera with a high quality aftermarket market one? Can it be a DIY project, given that you'd use the existing wiring?
I'm a bit confused the Renault RS line and the normal capture both have the same dct you say that the transmission in the Renault captur is fine but when you review it in the RS line you say the dct is not very good aren't they the same transmission
The Captur, it’s a good looking SUV but I’m still waiting to see the 2022 Renault Clio, I’m in love with that car, so far I’ve only seen it’s picture and some videos, I just want to see how it’s defined on car expert
We compared quite a few options in this size car. TCross looks good but its actually small and has no rear legroom and an extra ~10k. CX30 literally no rear legroom, its tiny, not a family car at all. Some cars this size also don't have rear A/C - Ridiculous! The Renault is fun to drive and most of the others aren't. 40k really isn't that much, way better value than a Mini or a TCross. At a lower price you could go to a Kia Seltos but they are an extremely uninspiring car to drive somehow despite the engine spec. Toyotas are slow but great quality if practicality is more important than the driving experience.
Hey Paul - would you be able to include speaker tests in the reviews? Both at a stand-still and driving (see if you need to max the audio out to drown out the road noise).
I have a rs line, where do. , NO remote folding mirrors, NO interior grab handles, drum brakes on the rear why ?., noise electric hand brake, 9” screen too big obscures you vision, bought it 2nd hand with 2k on the clock, payed 8k less than new price happy with that, should make a diesel one in the rs line with about 120bhp, the 1.3 turbo has NO torque till over 3000 rev, will keep about a year then back to diesel .
@@aimanfitri0iv I don’t think so sadly. There is the Dacia / Renault Duster which is similar size and has AWD, but it’s cheaper and is mostly available in Europe, South Africa, Latin America and some other markets. Oh wait, there is an AWD version of the Captur, but only in some emerging markets, and it’s built on a different platform. The MK2 Captur made in Spain doesn’t have AWD.
@@aimanfitri0iv The Duster is quite popular in Europe. It was never sold in Ozzyland, but I don’t think it would sell well in Ozzyland anyway. However, I still wish more companies (eg Ford, Renault, Stellantis, etc) added AWD versions to their B-SUVs.

Nothing against this bloke doing the reviews but 40k for a lemon is ridiculous, no matter how he tries to make it seem luxurious by doing the touch points and seeing if the build quality of the centre console moves or not, prices of cars have gone up to much in prices and it's not worth your money.
Everytime I look ar these reviews I am genuinely shocked by the prices.

A CX30 and Kona are exactly the same. Jacked up versions of tiny hatchbacks.
It's not even really that "jacked up," the ground clearance is only 6mm higher than the Clio.

Yes all the same. RS line (not to be confused with full RS) is just sports styling, hence the RS line.

There has never been plans to bring the Clio V to Aus
You said ZS but put a picture of a HS up. Just saying
Not all Capturs come with a 1.3 engine. I'm getting one in a few weeks with a 1.0 engine. Brilliant drive though.
In Australia they do
Why it is so bouncy at one moment I thought you are about to take off is it because the road is bouncy as well?
yeah it was a test track and those were the "sine waves" (as in sinusoidal).
