After all, when you fill up a gas car you can go to any gas station, and this should be the same situation for EVs . . . ALL charging station. It is a bit too much to justify in the UK I think, £882 when you add VAT. I've not personally had any issue finding CHAdeMO connectors yet, though in the future and if it was less expensive I'd be very tempted, if only to have access to open Tesla chargers at much better prices.

Now.... if there was only some kind of solution that would actively cool that battery, then the LEAF would be a viable long distance EV. I like the LEAF, but getting throttled to 11kw on a DCFC is not acceptable.
@@nomadichippie I'm not sure about the second gen, but when we replaced the OBC on our former 2012 LEAF, we found the cooling lines literally going past the battery to get to the OBC in the back. I wanted to face desk when I saw this. Even worse, there is an EV version of the Nissan Versa out there that does have a liquid cooled battery. Nissan really made a poor decision in skimping on cooling. I wonder if the 2nd gen LEAF also has cooling lines going to the back of the car? I could see this as a "relatively" easy job and tie into the cooling to the sensors for the OBC and running a tapped loop with pump into a cooling plate in the battery pack. This is assuming there isn't a sleeping piece of code in the BCM to wake up make use of.

I'm a little wary of people operating out of a place offering 1 day, 1 person rental terms though.
@@ianemery2925I thought that too but when you add it to the basket and go to the checkout it adds on VAT and is £882. That is from the UK Website delivered to a UK address. Delivery is free.
@@m33ksr OK, that is very naughty; UK prices are supposed to be advertised with VAT included, UNLESS they are aimed at business users.
Add the dodgy nature of the address, and that is another one off my list.
Now.... if there was only some kind of solution that would actively cool that battery, then the LEAF would be a viable long distance EV. I like the LEAF, but getting throttled to 11kw on a DCFC is not acceptable.
Definitely the next big thing to get done and figure out
@@nomadichippie I'm not sure about the second gen, but when we replaced the OBC on our former 2012 LEAF, we found the cooling lines literally going past the battery to get to the OBC in the back. This is assuming there isn't a sleeping piece of code in the BCM to wake up make use of.
be safe always
