I love my Nissan LEAF, I will drive it until the wheels fall off, and I really love that people are trying to ensure the long-term viability of these vehicles.
love our 2020 leaf. amazing car. never fast charged it. only ever used the supplied nissan charger since new. battery is still perfect as far as i can tell. zero loss in range
This is great for accraine. Ironically in the UK we are not really short of Chademo, and AC chargers are everywhere, but we do know there will come a time. At the moment in the UK we have a huge growth in CCS2 Tesla chargers open to non-tesla drivers. They are very cheap compared to what else is common, and very fast so they free up fast. I might get one of these even though I am not really stuck for Chademo.
I’m going out to meet him again this morning to do a few more charges at a couple more chargers before he heads back and I too I’m gonna save a little bit of money I think and place an order as soon as possible. This made me so happy because, it worked at every single charger. I really want the one that I purchased to work but it’s just not working one out of every 50 charges. Mine works the one I went around with Patrick yesterday testing from Europe works at every charger.
My experience (in the UK) is that Chademo is comparatively rare, and getting rarer. I had to make the choice of selling my Leaf or investing in an adaptor. I chose the latter, and bought one from AutonLaturit. It works, and my "charger anxiety" is vastly less.
Kyle Connor is caught sleeping on this . His buddy Tom did a video on it today of a unboxing and will get a leaf to test the A to z one . He is getting a 100 dollars off for his subscribers.
Why the heck are you installing the adapter into the leaf first. I would put the adapter on the end of ccs connector before I plugged it into the car. Delta units take a while to start and you should hear the leaf heap when it is going to start.
I was told yesterday that they are available right now actually it’s 4 o’clock in the morning. I’m getting a small charge and I’m going back down to meet him and do a couple more test this morning, but this thing was amazing. It worked at every single site that I had to have music and stuff towards the beginning, my microphone was not turned on and made a terrible static noise so I had to trim a lot of the video.
I think you got them. I think you got the name correct lol yeah the European one worked 100% of the time basically it made me so happy that it actually worked at Electrify America and ChargePoint because those are the two chargers that are mostly around and I’m just happy that it just worked at those let alone all the others.
He had zero sequence I mean, he said if it didn’t work one way he would try another way, but basically all he did was plug the unit into the car plug the cable into the unit press the button and it worked it was that simple it was like using any other adapter it just worked
We have many years of experience in DC adapters. And build many DC stations,so quite know the different charging protocols. So not like other brand adapters need debugging and debugging
Since you are driving the Gen 2 Leaf, you don't need to get shots of the charging station, the dash itself in the Leaf can show you exactly how much power is coming in, real-time for much easier convenience. 😁
My battery was hot because of all the charging we were doing and plus it was like almost 100° in humid outside so my speeds weren’t that great I got up to I believe on one of my videos I showed I think I was in the 60s almost 70
I was screaming for this in 2020. All the "engineers" in the comments kept telling me it was not possible because of protocol handshaking blah blah. I told them, go back to school and learn your trade.
Exactly luckily there’s some smart people out there that never go up give up and keep working at it working at it until you finally get a great product like this. I’m loving this thing. It is so cool and it’s fun to pull up and go wait a second this isn’t your charger. You can’t charge it. This one. You have a Nissan and I whip that thing out I feel like, the guy that played the sheriff and blazing saddles when he got up and said excuse me while I whip this out
That seems awesome! I don't fully understand how this works. Do you buy the adaptor from Nissan? Or do you get it from a different place? I was looking to buy a cheap Nissan Leaf and drive it from Tampa, to Los Angles, never been in an EV before, sounds fun. Yes, I know the Leaf is the worst road trip EV, no cooling. But still cheap. It has 66% of the battery life left, has 8 bars of health. The "A better route planner" says I can't make it on Chademo, or level 2. Maybe the CCS adaptor will help with that?
I put links down below the video you can click if you don’t get it from Alibaba and get it from the other link I shared ask for Patrick. He’s the gentleman I went around Orlando with he will hook you up when you go to the website and send message just ask, and he will get it and contact you
25 miles? Try 24 miles. I hypermile'd my way down to a slow charger when EA left me effectively stranded. Rapidgate and terrible weather ate up my 50 mile buffer to reach the next fast charger down I75 turning a 12 hour drive into a 16 hour drive. I was lucky I made it to my destination at all. >:( Oh, if I had that adapter... That weak link in my route planning wouldn't have been a problem at all. Going to shoot accraine an email for sure.
It was not the Canadian version for some reason. I was thinking that unit that I was going to be hanging out with Patrick testing was the Canadian unit it is not. It was the European one I found out. They have a CCS one unit that we went around and test yesterday in this video and also going to be doing a little bit this morning. And it worked at every single station With no issue one time there was an issue where they needed to create some for more real fast and that only took maybe four minutes to put on the unit and then get it working the rest of the day and when it worked flawless
@@accrainecan you send me a link to your company? When I try to type it in and find the company on Google I get a company called a2z and I suspect it's not the right company. I am active with the Oregon electrical vehicle Association, formally it's vice president and a longtime board member. We would like to get the word out about your product for our members who drive cars that have chathamo for DC charging.
No I messed with my leaf a little to where I don’t have to worry too much on open roads, whether they are curved or straight I can go from home, only having to really touch my steering wheel if I am exiting or making a turn or shifting lanes
No, I asked if he could help me with the firmware on the unit. I have two totally Has a built-in battery and the one from Europe there’s no battery it has a capacity
There’s a couple tricks you can do as long as something is touching the steering wheel. You should not have to always hold the steering wheel like if your knee is under it that’s how I first started doing it, but then went and started messing a little bit with my computer when I would have it connected to the Chato adapter testing and just shut that off but if you’re not gonna hook your computer up the best way is just set your seat in the right position and as long as your knee or something is there you’re good or you could even go to the truckstop get one of those things that go on your steering wheel that rotates kinda like a tractor wheel it’s like a Little ball of pressure on the wheel and then it tricks the computer thinking that you’re touching it
@@nomadichippie nice, cheers! In the UK Pro pilot isn't the best compared to some other systems but on a long straight motorway run it comes in handy so I'll look into those options!
There is hope, but I wouldn’t want to be stuck on the road because I can’t charge. If this is not fully sorted out, our Leafs will continue to lose resale value. Fortunately for me, I only drive around town and charge at home. As much as I love my Leaf, I’m switching to a Tesla soon. Charging problem solved.
The problem is, that it's hard to tell whether the failure is the adapter, or the charge station itself. Sadly public fast chargers are only about 50% reliable. (Tesla superchargers are much more reliable, but they're the exception, not the rule)
U can get this one here. It is working great so far. www.electricvehicle-charging.com/sale-44480510-north-american-evse-adapter-ccs1-to-chademo-adapter-for-nissan-dc-converter.html
Volkswagen AG holds a patent on such a device, issued in 2018. The implications are obvious. All such devices are prohibited by EVgo and EA under their membership agreements unless supplied by auto OEMs (Nissan and Mitsubishi in US, mainly). If you damage a $150,000 charger or your car by using such a device, the device mfg is going to be beyond the reach of US law, and your auto warranty and car insurance is not going to cover anything here. Whether you call them Canadian or European or Chinese, they are all going to be made in China. The manufacturers need to get them on the Nissan/Mits parts lists; I suspect very difficult. Our family has owned 5 Leafs; I am really pissed about what ChargePoint is doing with the J3400 plugs, but I need to see some bonds posted before buying one of these adapters.
I fired off emails to EVgo and Electrify America a few months ago asking if they were going start providing a adapters for us if they were going to start pulling the chademo cables from their machines about three weeks later they sent me each an email stating that they had no plans so if they’re gonna leave us hanging, I don’t know what else to do because Nissan is going to neither with Nissan or North America. They have no plans.
Cclrane would be best for us in United States I feel but alibaba was good shipping from china for the one I got so I’m assuming it would be fine for this also
Electrify America chargers have bricking cars for years now just the charging stations alone have been doing it not much different than an adapter though it is a third-party dear. Definitely going to be responsible but the computer pretty much works the same way it talks to both the adapter does have safety features, I have charged probably over 60 times already zero issues. That’s why I’m out here. I’m doing the testing in my own personal car so far zero issues
I love my Nissan LEAF, I will drive it until the wheels fall off, and I really love that people are trying to ensure the long-term viability of these vehicles.
It will last forever now
Old Leaf gets new life now.
My 2013 LEAF recently broke a ball joint as I turned into my driveway, so i am already there.
It's great to see that these adapters work! CHAdeMO gets a lot of grief, but it was actually the first high-speed charging connector standard.
It will live a long time with this unit
It’s a better software standard as it uses canbus and the connector had v2g for ages
love our 2020 leaf. amazing car. never fast charged it. only ever used the supplied nissan charger since new. battery is still perfect as far as i can tell. zero loss in range
As a uber driver I fast charge every day, but the car is great can't really slow charge around here
It's crazy how easy he's getting it to work, I hope Longwood can get theirs going just as well. Competition might be good!
This was a great experience
