      That’s Lomax’s problem not the club. Just because he was paid at $850,000 or $1, he wants to leave. The Dragons are not entitled to fit the bill from their purse to make up Lomax’s difference, as Gus is pointing.
      Secondly if I was the Bulldogs I’ll make an ultimatum to Gus Gould your job and focus is the Bulldogs not in the media. They can get around it by saying this job is a conflict of interest. Your performance at Bulldogs is rubbish stealing individual Panthers players to somehow build up the bulldogs. It’s all coming home to Roost isn’t it Gus, that it’s the culture not the individual Panthers players that are making them winners. Bulldogs do yourself a favour and get rid of this rubbish.
      Going back to Lomax if he signs with another club, they table an offer that is less, that’s once again his problem his not valued by what a previous club payed for his service. His value is determined by on-field performance. Maybe Gus is using Bulldogs to shelter the salary cap problems by the Panthers. His a hypocrite.

      The club has canceled the contract. the NRL havent cancel the salery cap value. Saints and the NRl agreed to the value of the player. Now the 800k cap value needs to be meet or the Dragons get a cap advantage over the other teams. Player value and CAP value are 2 completly different things.

      Lomax thinks his value is based by him lamenting like a child, pay up I’m worth this much and if you don’t pay I’m not playing. I’d rather sit out because in Lomax World I’m worth this and valued at that. My answer is see ya and come up NSW Cup player into 1st Grade. Make these self entitled, narcissistic & arrogant players realise that they’re here to work as an employee. Not even dropped, completely put aside off the roster and if your not playing then your money payments are on ice. These managers have made these players feel like they’re invincible, non-replaceable & so entitled. Clubs need to start to realise 1 million other junior players in Sydney who can play Rugby League. Easily replaced and without a hint of regret. Those contracts need to start stipulating conditions the player has to meet. Otherwise, they don’t meet them no money. Replaced by NSW Cup player. Make them understand that they’re not Rugby League. The Game preceded them, it will precede them into the future. Problem why this exists, because of a culture of nepotism & nepotistic people looking after buddies not the interest of the RLFC they’re meant to play and represent.

      I mean from the stand point that next year dragons now have a free 900k in cap which should be used on there winger I would back gus on this one. its in the dragons best interest to move him on and replace him with someone already in house or much cheaper, then they are able to use the spare money to sure up another spot. and then it also leads to another club getting stronger at a reduced price for no reason. there should be for sure some more rules around breaking contracts.

    • @TheSeano
      @TheSeano 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Gus is a goose but he's essentially right here. The Dragons signed Lomax to a contract under the salary cap rules and therefore if he's to break that contract to go to the Eels to maintain the integrity of the salary cap the Eels should not be able to pay Lomax less than he would have been making at the Dragons. For the years after the Dragon's contract would have ended the Eels can negotiate a lower contract as long as they're within the normal salary cap rules.

    • @nateplace415
      @nateplace415 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Player movement fundamentally works differently over here though; players in the NFL have substantially less agency in terms of forcing/preventing moves than they do in the NRL (no doubt impacted by the ungodly amounts of money involved in our code), so comparisons between the two are inherently suspect imo.

  • @RusselBrout

    The cost is being taken by Lomax because his pay is going down from 850k to 600k. I’ve no idea why Gus thinks St George should also take a 250k cost.

    • @jordanious7711
      @jordanious7711 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the dragons shouldn't, that was dumb. But theres probably a case for the Eels having to pay it out anyway.. Hypothetically, What if Lomax wanted to leave the dragons to win a title and he was moving to the storm for only 100k/year.. Would you then have a problem with it? The Storm are obviously being unfairly advantaged. The storm already have a huge advantage when it comes to recruiting the best players for lower salaries.. You cant also let them poach from other teams whilst even paying them less salary on top of it?
      yeah, it's a hypothetical, but the hypothetical is why the rule exists.

    I agree will Paul Gallen. I think the club who Zac Lomax signs with should foot the rest of the bill. The team who he signs with is getting a quality player, so they should pay. If the team doesn’t like that arrangement, then don’t sign him, simple! This situation is all Zac Lomax’s doing, he wants out because he doesn’t want to play on the wing. So, if clubs don’t want to sign him in this situation he only has himself to blame.

      He signed a major contract that helped the inflation of the player market in his position with his skillset. Saints and every other team were affected with retention and recruitment for the salary cap period of his contract. It helped establish market values for all player trading.
      Regardless of his desperation to now leave Saints for less money mid contract, the market effect on the salary cap for all clubs will stand and therefore should be transferred to Parra who will otherwise pick up a cap discount compared to their competitors.

    You want the Dragons to pay $200,000 on their salary cap for a player that no longer want to play for them. Those future contracts no longer exist once he signs the contract with Parra. Get off the see through didgeridoo Gus. I agree with Gal. One of the most ridiculous things Gus has ever said and that’s saying something 😂😂

  • @daleviker5884

    Gus says "someone needs to take the hit for the missing $200k, whether it's Parramatta or St George. But he overlooks the fact that someone is taking a hit - it's Lomax, who apparently is willing to give up $200k to go to another club. If Lomax is truly willing to play for $200k less than he could demand under his contract, then St George is just lucky. Because if he insisted on staying and collecting the money there's nothing they could do about it. I wonder if Gus suspects (but can't say) that Lomax isn't really willing to take a pay cut, and St George will pay him the $200k, but it will be paid on the side and not declared? I'm a little bit skeptical too, because it's pretty amazing that a player would pass up $200k a year just to change position.

      @@bmassive4938 I don't want Dogs or Saints pay anything but according to Gus someone should pay. Lomax is terminating the contract. What happens if Pangai Jr plays for the Broncos for a smaller amount of money. He has been playing Qld Cup. The Bulldogs pay something towards the difference because they saved money on the cap? I don't get the logic. I'm a Dogs supporter.

    Thing is, the losing club usually pays 'freight'. The gaining club KNOWS they are in the upper hand position and pay a fair chunk (but not all) of the player's salary moving forward. It's how it works. The player doesn't lose out, the losing club can now move on and the gaining club gets the player at a discounted rate. Everyone wins in a way Signing any player is a risk and the Dragons just have to cop this one so they can move on.
