- 2025 is here and the Boks Office is back to talk all things rugby. The team looked at the highs and the lows of the Springboks in 2024 and what is to come in 2025 with Investec Champions Cup rugby returning as Sharks host the current champions Toulouse.

Shimmy is just superb... The perfect host
What a lekker show again.
Agreed, he reads the room well and knows how to get the guests going
Couldn't agree more!!
absolutely
Well said, he's the boytjie.
100%
Flip Shimmy does such a great job hosting this show! Big up to him
Nick´s rugby IQ and decisive opinions is legendary. Make this man a feature as often as possible.
Make Nick a permanent fixture on this show. His rugby knowledge is just superb. Now you can see why he’s had success all over.
Nick is a stand-up guy to defend Gary like that
Wonder if Gary woukld defend him considering
@peterwomersley considering what?
Shimmy is an absolute legend!
This was a great chat, lads! Shimmy is a great host. It was great to hear from Gary. Nick is just class!
Great to see Boks Office back on air!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too Shimmy - a fantastic show that you host - well done!👍🏉
Nice to see Nick again and to Gary for the first time.
Hope J DV and Skala are enjoying them selves wherever they are!
Look forward to 2025 👍🏉💪
We are blessed with so much talent in SA but we also have many brilliant rugby minds like Nick.
Nick & Gary, thank you for your service ❤ awesome podcast❤❤❤
No rugby on so listening to this with a plankie. Absolute class, thanks gents.
In 2024 there were 52 springboks who completed in the 13 games,
If we look at this group and their future age at the next world cup then excluded anyone is is 36 years and older there would still be 36no players with an average age of 30.72 years old. The average age at the 2023 World cup was 30 years of age.
This is golden age of Springbok Rugby.
Thank You Dr Rassie Erasmus!
This has to be the best rugby show, a cut above the rest. Shimmy is so polished. Nic needs to be permanently on the show. Well done guys.
Shimmy is a legend of a host, and having Nick Mallet on the show should be permanent. Cheers from a proud Saffa living in London.
Who asked where you from😂😂😂
It'll be a dark day when Nick retires from TV rugby. He's not afraid to call it like it is. Big fan
Once again, such a great, insightful and entertaining interview. Great stuff.
Glad you are back guys. Happy New Year. ❤
Great show and always a laugh but also very insightful into the the beautiful game! looking forward to 2025 Rugga - great Job Shimmy, class Pure class!
Brilliant show - the best one yet for me. The old heads have so much knowledge. I always feel Schalk wears that moniker all on his own and shares his extensive knowledge & sound analysis with aplomb. Shim the humorous host; Jean the jester and Schalk the rugby cerebral. With these two (Gary & Nick) the analysis facet went up a notch; engrossing. Both articulate themselves effortlessly. Love it and happy new year.
Wonderfully written! Yeah we can do without the jester, he brings zero value. Jean is just a spoilt brat.
Gary Gold is also a legend. Always so approachable and friendly around town as well.
If there's only one player i could bring back from the past i t would be no one else other than Danie Gerber. The greatest rugby player of all time. 🙌
He is my favorite Bok player of all time
I wish he played more, any suggestion he was spent when he resumed playing in 1992 was dispelled with his double against NZ and further tries against France
He know how to fish them
I hope he is doing well health wise
Said absolutely nobody
Shimmy a class act, follows the right rugby cues and knows how to get things one track in a fun way. Smart strategy.
Well done to Gary, some serious coaching capital there.
Nick is simply a national rugby treasure and rugby connoisseur.
You guys are awesome. Great show today🎉🎉Shimmy is a great host. And the banter is top notch
The gift that keeps on giving! ❤ Boks Office and Love Nick
Shimstah - you are in phenomenal form as a host!
Great Shimmy, Nick and Gary. The BEST BoksOffice yet. Very high calibre. 💪
Sets a standard for 2025. Thank you guys.
Funny enough id watch a show with all three of them weekly
Great show gents!! Shimmy great job hosting, Mfo!!!
Nick mullet a legend would be great to have him by the bulls
I think Tyrone Green should also get an honourable mention? Could cover wing, centre and possibly full back?
Second mention of Henco Van Wyk, top talent and extra cover at centre 🙌
not sure why he is being ignored ?
Great show as always, love this channel
Great content as always!!💚❤️🙏👊🏾👍🏾🍻
Shimansky, you legend!
Proper lekker show this is. Keep it up!
Really enjoyed this episode!!
Great show, as always! Shout-out to the Teesavs 😉
I'm invested in the Sharks Toulose game now
Love this podcast hope to make it one day on it ❤🎉
That big 140kg prop from the Lions should be called up. If he is put on a proper eating plan he will be a monster.
Ntlabakanye is a beast he just needs Malherbe fitness levels and he could grow in the Bok setup
@bongolethudubula Exactly...if he gets called up to the Boks I feel he will be motivated to put in the hard work this year.
Wasn't he is 160ish?
@@bongolethudubula Ntlabakanye is insanely fit for someone with that body. That guy is always moving its crazy. His discipline is just lacking sometimes.
Henco Van Wyk (Weapon X0 is an amazing centre.
Injuries 😭
Nice one .. .Shimmy you legend!
Shimmie is an excellent host and Nick is just brilliant. I love Jean and Schalk, but I am just aware of the constant drinking narrative when especially Schalk is around. Amber light for me. Best rugby podcast bar none.
Glad someone else also picked up on that
Let the boys play Mr Ref!😅🍻
Good episode .. Learnt a lot.
Epic episode
Happy new year guys. Looking forward to a great Rugby year and of course listening to professional punditry
Siya Kolisi will lead us to a 3rd World Cup in a row. Siya will go down as the greatest leader rugby has ever seen . Bookmark this💫☄️
What Gary and Nick explains happened to him is typical British management style
Nick mallets the best pundit by far “ what a brilliant rugby brain
100% agree about neethling its crazy to me
Yank here. Respectfully disagree on your America takes. Rugby is growing here. I didn’t watch it before but the 2023 World Cup got me hooked. Ilona Maher has a huge social media following. People are tired of NFL constant commercials after every play. In my personal opinion I’m tired of players using their helmet as a spear to tackle. It’s causing youth participation to plummet.
Hope you're right. The US has a sad reputation for taking commercialization too far. Look at your health care sector - probably the most expensive in the world! The US needs major reform on a number of fronts...
It is gaining an interest in USA but as mentioned it isn't at the level of where nations where rugby is part of their culture and the mainstream sport... Baseball, basketball, football is in American culture that isn't mainstream sport in other countries . Because of the world cup in 2031 , World Rugby is trying to increase interest of the game in USA by using Ilona Maher
Durban weather prediction for Sat is 29 deg C, 81% humidity, and rain. So hot and soaking wet inside and outside. Dupont is going to melt into a puddle.
Henco van Wyk🔥
So lekker. In the freezer in Windermere. Awesome. So much rugby legend.
I love Manie a lot. But John Dobson needs to realize that all those miss kicks will costs them in the knock out rounds. If he misses one or two, let Sacha kick or Jean Luc Du Plessis to take that pressure off Manie so he can focus on the attacking game - like Rassie did against Argentina in Nelspruit when Jaden Hendrickse was kicking
Ole ole ole ole 🎉
steenekamp x neethling would be a solid future combo
Thank goodness someone said David Kriel!!!
I was at that 99 RWC match in Stade De France against England, and the change in strategy was obvious when Ref kept penalizing boks, De Beer started the drop kicks and took ref clean out of game. Unfortunately Nick made the ultimate error of dropping Teich as captain which was one step too far for team morale, and Boks just lost too much dominance compared to run up to WRC.
There were bigger issues than Teich. Hannibal was injured etc etc
Plus we ran into a fantastic Oz team that needed a 1/100000 drop from Larkham to snatch it
Sure there was more to it and you cannot discount injury, and as it is so well demonstrated in RWC 2023, your team is more than the starting line up. The Aussies did not win that game, we lost it long before the drop kick, we had the players but not the game plan in stages of the game. So too did the AB not plan for the French change of game plan in the second half of the semi’s.
I feel sorry for Rassie because he has huge pressure on his shoulders and struggles with his physical health. He is sicker than we realise. If you google his illness it states that it can be fatal
We can always pray for him
Ilona Meyer has increased interest significantly in the USA, and USA private equity have been keeping NZ and other countries unions alive. And there are several foreign born players now qualified or close to be for USA rugby.
Shimmy my bru this thumbnail is wayyy too spicy 😂
David Kriel is insanely good.
The 100th comment is dedicated to Willie getting his 100th cap. 🇿🇦
been saying this about kriel
Missed a question What was it like working under Eddy ?
I wonder what happened to Garry at Bath 10:16
Van Graan replaced him
Yes but van Gran wasn't there with was he. He came from an Irish club if I'm not mistaken
It was Mike Ford
Both Kolisi and Eben
I have heard (behind the scenes) that Gary Gold is probably the great South African coach that never was....his major challenge is his emotional intelligence.
What are the chances on Jake being the next England coach if Borthwick goes? He's wanted the job since leaving the Springboks.
Nice shimmy
Bongi is actually 34 now guys. Turned 34 three days ago. I’m guessing he won’t be at the next one because he will be just over a month short of 38 by then
Time stamps lads
Who was the coach who screwed over Gary at around 10min in?
Wasn't Gary Gold the USA coach?
yes lost to Portugal failed to qualify wc2023
Siya on pension...please?
If South African Rugby can get a inside centre with Willie le Roux Vision, Arendtse and Kolby would score in each test they playing. Take note huge respect for De Allende.
Esterhuizen can play the bulldozing and attacking game, Damian Willemse is also an option. But he must play with a fly-half that would allow him to shine, which means Sacha can't play next to him as they are very similar.
The Stormers playing SFM at 12 and get surprised why he gets injured 🤦🏻♂️
Well done Shimmy, but please consult a dress consultant 😂
Mallet's anti-Bulls centiments coming through strongly, he just cannot help himself. Thanks Gary, clearly he has discovered a world outside CT and acknowledged more players from other franchises as part of the bok future. 👌🙏
thats rubbish !
@@peterwomersley I agree, don't need this provincialism anymore!
Jc marsh who's he ??
Writing off Willie is a mistake. He hasn't slowed down yet! 😅
Or buy one🎉
the boks office supreme shimmy for captain
Gentlemen
15?
Only once in NZ in 2009
I Honestly hope we DON'T see David Kriel playing 12 for the boks. New Zealand are stuck with Jordie Barrett as we speak!! Because they profiled him on paper, he is 1.9m+/+-100kg. Ephasis on "ON PAPER!", on the field he is nowhere near as Strong as a De Allende, Tuipulotu, Bundee Aki, etc... Let us not go down the same route.
NZ is not stuck with him. He is simply there at them moment.
@DavidSmith-yi8ou Oh trust me they're stuck. He's a Barret so even when a proper 12 comes along, it will be difficult to drop him. You can tell because the failure of the center combination is directed mainly at Rieko. Can't move him either, his primary position is occupied by Will Jordan.
@@sikhothomas4746 No, you’re wrong. Razor will change if he’s not happy. He didn’t struggle against SA in 24. Boks experience from the bench was the key in those games.
No one ran through the AB mid field that’s for sure. Especially in the first test when ABs were able to get outside the rush defence comfortably.
That actually exposed the SA midfield. Maybe the Boks are stuck with De Allende.
@@DavidSmith-yi8ouSo the AB's went AROUND the rush defence, and that exposed the midfield?!😅 How?
@ by exposing the midfield rushing defenders as being ineffective in preventing the ball from reaching the edges and consequently losing territory.
Saffa in Mexico. Jalisco Province Medical (Salud Jalisco Program) - Free. Most Mdecines through the program - free. Not only that Electricity (bi monthly) 450 ZAR - Water yearly 2400 ZAR. Three reasons its so cheap. 1 No ANC 2. Unemployment 2.6% and lastly. The government with all its warts cares for the people to a large degree. Walk at night to the town square at night. Walk back from Walmart at 9:00pm safely. Why would I go back to South Africa? Just some facts for the day.
Jeez Nick Mullet can't shut up, how does he get that head in the room?
Sharks by 5
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 get wrecked overrated Bok
Who stabbed Gary in the back?
Mallet’s weather forecast didn’t age well. Why especially Durban the games are not 7.00pm kick-offs is only something the limited intellects that run the sport can justify.
The global rugby calendar needs to be negotiated with all major NH and SH representatives, especially coach’s involved ( not the mysterious administrators who collect huge salaries and do nothing and have never done anything for the sport).
What’s the thing with elderly men and school boy shorts? 😂
Generally enjoy the show but found it strange and annoying that the black host is mispronouncing names of black players. Selimpilo WTF 🤐 Next thing, its going to be Saiya Kolozi. Seriously, please dont be an embarrassment Hanyami.
Mike Ford is the back stabbed I think?
Van Graan
But van Gran was not with him at Bath. Did he not come from an Irish club to Bath
No, it was Mike Ford. Google!!
Kobus Wiese?
Bring back the banter?
This topic is kinda getting boring now.
Pollard shouldn't be in the next world cup. We have so many young and proven no#10's..
pollared has won us the RWC2023 If he is playing as wel as he is at Leiscester and kicking at over 80% and no one else can meet his stats he should be definitely playing He is a clutch kicker
No flyhalf has proved himself yet. Potential yes but not proven. Libbok not good enough, say what you like. Sascha, Hendrikse, etc still to prove themselves
@@rorysullivan4913 absolutely great talent but I agree they have a long way to go and let’s hope they get there especially Sacha who has not proven himself physically yet. Great admirer of him but has someway to go.
Sacha is potentially the only one with the kicking accuracy to match Pollard, but he is far too injury prone. Pollard has never had the same problems with injury.
Young yes. Proven? No. Closest challenger is only Sasha really. Hendrikse has potential but far from proven.
Everything that Nick said about Willie Le Roux is a lie...😂😂😂😂
😂😂
