  • In the small town of Hanover, Pennsylvania, a place amongst the fields of grain (and home to more than a handful of pretzel factories), you can find this throwback love letter to the 70s and 80s arcade aesthetic. This Timeline Arcade - one of two in the general southern PA area, with the other, larger location located about 30 minutes away in York - leans into the retro nostalgia hard. With decor inspired by the classic Time-Out Arcades that many Gen X'ers and elder millennials grew up with and adored, this free play arcade has a great mix of classic arcade games alongside some more modern favorites, as well as some fresh new pinballs alongside electromechanical favorites from back in the day. Rates are $10 per hour, or $25 for an all-day pass; or, if you're looking to check out both locations, they offer a "road trip" pass that gets you into both the Hanover spot as well as the York location for $35, so you can more than double your fun! While this may be a drive out of most people's way, it's definitely worth the visit. Swing by and check it out!

It seems nice, though the wall art reminds me of that internet meme of the first half of "You lived in the 80s?" with wall art and furniture consisting of 80s memes, before the second half of the picture shows what it was really like for us growing up in the 80s with wood paneling brown walls, brown chair, brownish orangish carpet, and very small televisions!
I also saw your Pinball Map post. Place kinda reminds me of Yestercades here in New Jersey, where they push more for the nostalgia getting in the people instead of properly fixing/maintaining their pinball machines and arcade games!

At 5:22... I see Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in there. I remember when I went to Rack N Roll two years ago they took that game out of that arcade.
And Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be part of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection game which is coming out later this year.

I haven't been to Rack N Roll in a while, I need to change that soon.

@@S1ckH4ndsRBN I hear you. I stopped going to Rack N Roll a couple years ago.

Wow what a cool place! The background aesthetics, one thing I hate seeing in the arcade walkthroughs I watch is all the bland black walls/warehouse backgrounds so always noted if they do something. I think they struck a nice balance of having that type of aesthetic and not going overboard with color vomit which is all too easy to do.
Think the neon tube should go or moved into the billiards room so it doesn't cast onto the playfields though.
Another thing that stands out to me is the unorthodox layout of the place. I see a John Wick pinball machine in there and I cannot imagine how you even transport the machine in position while keeping all your other nooks and crannies covered.
Are those lotto machines at the front? Why are they there? Doesn't that mean you have to make the establishment 18+ by law then?

So, those machines are "Pennsylvania Skill Machines" -- basically, slot machines with extra steps. Apparently they were legalized by the state a while back and now they are pretty much showing up everywhere. You're supposed to have to be 18 to play them, though I'm not entirely sure exactly how that's determined (I've never thrown a buck into them in my life and don't intend to start any time soon). I see them all over the place throughout PA, whether it's at convenience stores, arcades, hotels, restaurants, or wherever. Doesn't mean the establishment needs to be 18+, just that they cannot be and are not being played by kids.
