My friends have been imprisoned in Eritrea for over 20 years just for their religious beliefs. I don't think their is a misunderstanding, Eritrea is understood. Its similar to Stalin's type of rulership.
What would be good for eritrea is to go back into ethiopia. Ethiopia has a huge potential. A large population and dedicated people. Eritreans are mostly Tigrinya and Tigre along with other tribes that live in comradeship with the aforementioned tribes. Ethiopians are in this order. Oromos, Amharas, Ogaden Somalis, Tigray-Tigrinya (our cross border ethnic brethren) and an assortment of other Cushtic tribes that are too different from the people of Mereb Mellash and even the Tigreans. It would be irrational and chaotic for you Amharas to suggest that Eritreans and Amhara-Oromo as well as Amharized Ethiopians to live in one country even if you have good intentions because they are two very different sets of people. It is best to live separately and ideally peacefully even two there might be conflicts between those peoples from time to time. I do not discount the possibility of instances were Eritreans and Amhara-Oromo Ethiopians might be allies.
