Very helpful as I have been picking my beans n snow peas last few days n wasnt sure if i have to blanch or not.
I just found your channel n was so inpressed that you dont have to blanch them.
Tks!😂
I’m so glad this was helpful. I wish I was still picking beans. I’m in Canada & we have lots of snow already! ❄️ Thank you for watching.
Thanks for this! I just harvested our first ever green beans from the garden and wanted to prep them for the freezer :)
I love freezing beans this way. In my video I cook the beans in my steamer. Another thing I started to do is fry them in a frying pan with a little bit of olive oil, salt & pepper & crushed garlic. Just something different. 😉
I believe you should leave the tip of the green bean on furthest away from the stem. That's where all the nutrients are
That is interesting to know. Thank you.
Good advice!
Thank you. as I've never tried it before.
No problem at all. I’m glad you asked.
I just posted a new video answering common questions. It might be helpful too. Here is the link. 😊

I agree! This method works for me! Thanks for sharing :)
It’s so easy isn’t it. Thank you so much for watching. 😊
Very helpful, thanks. I blanched, dried and flash froze individually, and then bagged up yesterday after fretting about whether color would fade if I didn’t blanch before freezing. Would love to skip blanching step. Do you see color degrade much, and how long are they nice and viable without blanching, please? Thanks so much!
I’m glad you found my video. I never blanch my beans. The colour changes slightly but not a significant amount. I typically use my frozen beans within 6 months. Beans are a favourite of ours.
Thank you for watching!👀
Have you tried freezing beans this way? It’s so fast and easy!
I vacume pack.
I think they stay a little fresher
That’s a great idea. I’ve never tried that before.
I cut the stem end but don’t have a reason to cut the tips
It’s all a personal preference for sure. 😊
After freezing the beans, do you have any problems with them being soggy after you defrost them. Thank you
That’s a great question! The texture does change. Once frozen the texture is similar to frozen beans you would buy at the grocery store. I always steam my beans. Fresh beans steamed from the garden are definitely better but during the winter these are the next best thing. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I dont have a steamer
Cook them in a cast iron skillet with a bit of butter or olive oil and garlic. Delicious!
Tried this before and they don’t taste good and they get very tough. I don’t think it’s a good idea.
I cut the tips off with scissors. 👍
That’s a great idea. Thank you. 😊
These are NOT RUNNER BEANS. They are dwarf or French beans and freeze differently to runner beans. Do not be confused.
I haven’t ever grown runner beans. I typically only plant bush beans. These beans freeze really well.
