- First shots.
Wolf is the perfect longbow for archers who want to experience the emotion of instinctive shooting at a truly appealing price. The riser of this 68” longbow is made of exotic red wood
and the limbs are made of hard maple and black fiberglass.
68” 45# @ 28”.
But this bow comes in at 50#.
Recommended brace height 7 1/2” to 8 1/2”.
Thank you for making and posting this video. I am currently heavily involved in Target Compound but after watching your video I'm thinking this style of archery may be for me. Cheers mate.
First off I want to say thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it and if my video inspired you to get into instinctive archery that really is A blessing. I’m sure if you give it a try you will end up like me and be hooked. it’s a lot of fun and I am trying all types of the instinctive archery. I hope you subscribe to the channel take care my friend God bless.
@@sigmanarchery54 Subscribed and thumbs up. Thank you. Can i trouble you for further information. I have a couple of questions regarding arrow spine and length.

Wow!!...your bow hand is simply perfect...I use a 55# Wolf and tomorrow I will try to shoot as I do when train, in the Campeonato de España de Campo...Spanish Field Championship...best from Spain!!
Jorge Beret Garcia. Thank you so much I really appreciate it. How do you like your bow, Good luck sir I hope you do well in your championship. If you would let me know how you do take care my friend God bless!!
Looks like very nice bow ! Excellent group of arrows
Thank you so much for your kind words and support.
It’s a great shooting bow for sure.
Take care and God Bless.
Good review. I recently bought a Ragim Black Bear recurve at 45# draw weight. Now thinking about the wolf. Thanks for making the video. 👍👍
Thank you for your very kind words I really appreciate that. I have tried to get that bow for a good price for a long time but have not done so Yet. So how do you like the bow, does it feel good in the hand is there any hand shock overall how would you rate the bow. And yes I think you would really like the Wolf it truly is a really really nice bow.
God Bless my friend.
@@sigmanarchery54 The Black Bear feels quite chunky, but also very lightweight. It was noisy but I always fit string silencers straight away to all my bows. This improved the noise and vibration. On release, it's like a firecracker. I'm hitting a coffee cup lid ( 3.5 inches ) at 10 yards no problem. I've only been shooting bows for Two Months. Great bow for a collector
@@oscargregory6153 that’s great good job, hope to see a video some day take care brother
God Bless.
That's really good shooting for not having a nocking point! Nice looking bow, Goodluck with it, and God bless you.
Oh, and I heard that some bows are made to be heavier when new, but will eventually come down to the weight they are supposed to be after they are broken in. Don't know how true that is, but I did hear that.
Thank you sir appreciate ya. It’s a really nice bow.
Your form is spot on mate👍
Thank you very much I really appreciate your kind words. 🫡

BEAUTYFUL BOW. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A FORM IN THAT. GREAT SHOOTING
Carlos Meléndez thank you I appreciate it it is a really nice shooting bow. So far I am well pleased with it.
I've been looking at Ragim bows online. The build and look of their line of bows seem to be a decent quality for the low prices they go for. I guess I'll add this one to my list too, haha!!! Great informative video and good shooting, even with those junky arrows!
Yes sir they are really nice bows. I have a few of them but the only one I have not really cared for so far was the Taiga custom horse bow it definitely hit a wall at the 28” mark so if you have a longer draw I would not recommend that one otherwise it was a nice bow. I have about three or four more I have not done a video on yet but the matrix is also a really really nice bow and I have done a couple videos on that one. But yes I would definitely recommend them. I’m not sure what your budget is but there is a great buy on eBay right now for a Bodnik bow and they have a 30 year transferable warranty, if you’re interested let me know and I will send you the link. Take care my friend God bless.
I just bought another longbow and ILF riser for my daughter, I’ll have to hold off on buying anymore bows for a bit. Is the Bodnik you mentioned left handed?
@@HandyL yes that’s y I mentioned it I noticed you were the south paw LOL. www.ebay.com/itm/Bodnik-BearPaw-Mohawk-Hybrid-Takedown-Longbow-62-LEFT-HAND-40-at-28-inch-/254984122413?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 check it out.
Oh yes, I saw that bow! Way out of my price range. I have yet to spend more than $200 on a bow. In hindsight although, given all the bows I’ve bought I could have two or three higher end bows for the same amount of money.
Nice video .. I have a friend who competes in UP Michigan
Thank you, I wish I was good enough to compete I really do enjoy Archery.
🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing this.
When it comes to measuring draw weight, I think you should measure from string to front of the bow.
Not behind the handle like you do here (and like you do when you measure brace height).
So it might be close to 45 lbs after all!?
Yes sir you are right. I feel bad but I have learned the error of my ways and it will not happen again 😁😁. Thank you so much for taking the time to write I appreciate your feedback and support take care my friend and God bless. 👍🏼🏹🇺🇸
Wow!! Awesome Powerful Bow. I never feel comfortable with #50. But shoot fast nice
MIGUEL VERA. It shoots really nice. But yes it will wear you out after shooting for a bit. I can say it is really a nice bow take care my friend.
@MrTrollsen #50 is the poundage of the Bow at @28" draw. It is powerful Bow. But For me I can not use it because I would not feel comfortable with my technique. You try practice. Keep shooting.

@@sigmanarchery54 welcome bro😁😁😁
the arrow flight was sharp.
Thank you my friend appreciate ya.
that bit of drawlength makes quite a difference. Makes me wonder what my 33" draw is going to feel like once the bow arrives. Got the 50lb one. But i can shoot 70lb so i should be fine either way.
Yes sir I’m sure it will be just fine, I think you are really going to enjoy the bow keep me posted.
And thank you for stopping by.
Take care my friend God bless.
I also have a draw length of nearly 34 inch, I don't draw him that long guess it would break. And from around 30 inch it begins to stack 🙋♂️
I thought manufacturers use AMO draw length, so you'd expect at 45# at 26.25".
h1strat. Most bow makers bows are at 28” draw unless built to your specific draw length and weights. Thank for your feedback.
I hope you and your family's are fine. 👍 keep on shooting . and make some videos help a lot. Cheers Brother.😀✌
Miguel Vera. Family doing fine. We are all well thank you. Hopefully you and your family are doing great. Yes I need to get some shooting in weave had nothing but rain here hopefully it will clear up soon. Take care my friend Cheers.
You measure the draw length from the front of the bow not the back.
Yes sir I have since then found the error of my ways lol. 👍🏼
it looks like the bow is nice and strong
Latonro Archery yes it is thank you, it’s a nice bow.
Wow, its a beautiful bow,
Metafor Studio. Yes it’s a nice bow and it shoots great Thank you sir I really appreciate it take care.
Hi. Thanks for the review. I'm looking to buy a traditional hunting bow. I want all the challenge and feeling which comes with the wooden bow. 18 years ago I made a #40 longbow from mountain ash. Also made arrows using grouse feathers and pine shaft, did broadhead from flat-hammered iron nail. It was a perfect first bow. But now I'm too old and lazy to build a new set again and I'm lookin for to buy laminated affordable set like yours. However I'm pondering should I buy 68" or 62" longbow for hunting in boreal forests. Also considering a recurve bow like Ragim black bear 58". I'm thinking of getting #45-50 weight and propably 400 spined arrows with 100gr broadheads and field tips. Can you give me your opinion or suggestions? It's been while since I shooted bows properly, but now the flame is burning again. What I'm looking for from the bow is the "ease" of shooting and I think longbow is offering that don't you think? I read somewere that the long bow is the most comfortable of all wooden bows and it is relatively easy to learn.
It is truly your preference, some people prefer the longbow, some prefer the Recurve myself I like all the different types. But if you do go with the 1 of the Ragim long bows I do not think you would be disappointment at all they are very nice bows. They do also have some very nice recurves depending on your price range they get up around $700 for their top end. And yes I like 45 to 50# but it can be a pretty good work out if you have not shot in awhile.💪🏼💪🏼 Also thank you very much for your feedback and support Take care my friend God Bless and good luck. Keep me posted.

Great bow
Nice! 🏹💪
Thank you my friend.

Thanks for the review, I've been looking to upgrade my current takedown Ragim Matrix Evo to something heavier, but, alas, 40# is the maximum for the limbs. I like that I can get a heavier one piece from the same manufacturer. You mention hand shock, is that something you've continued to feel after adjusting the brace height and adding silencers?
No after I played with the brace out a little bit and added some string silencers you can barely feel anything at all. Even without them it was so minimal I don’t think it would really bother you at all. By the way if you really like the matrix you can move up to the leopard which is the next step up or even up again to the impala but if you would like a one piece this is a fantastic shooting bow, I’m very pleased with it. Thanks for your kind words, and for your feedback and support I hope you subscribe take care and God bless.
@@sigmanarchery54 going a bit heavier on arrow weight gets rid of hand shock and quality strings
@@Jazzberrytpt1 thank you sir for that information I’ll give it a shot. 👍🏼
You've got great form. One thing though, draw length is not measured from the back of the riser on traditional bows. It's actually measured from the front. So that bow is pretty close to 45#. Example if you draw 28" you take a 28" arrow with a broadhead 90° to string the broadhead should just touch as the front or outside of the riser as you anchor. I know, it don't make sense to me either as riser thickness varies widly👍
Also they call the front the back and the back the belly. Just threw that in for clarification. You probably know all that. Good shootin' and God Bless.
Shootin' with Uncle Dan. Thank you sir I appreciate it.
Shootin' with Uncle Dan thanks again. So does it matter what size the grip is or just Measure to the back of the grip at recommend draw length. Thank you.
@@sigmanarchery54 well that is the crazy thing about it. It measures from the sight window really. So the thicker that is the longer arrow that is required for a given draw length. Most bows or fairly close but, the way you were measuring makes more sense but, unfortunately that is not how the archery Industry does it👍🇺🇸
Shootin' with Uncle Dan okay thank you 🇱🇷.
I Like This Long Bow....but in my country I can't get long bow...Archery Shop rare sell it...
That is too bad, it is a fantastic shooting bow. But that is a great opportunity for you to try to get hooked up with a bow maker and start carrying long bows. Do you in your country have Amazon prime.
Someone may have mentioned this but you are measuring the bow at nearly 31 inch draw. Did you redo this and have it come out to 45 # or no? I am looking at this bow as well for a review on my channel too :)
Archery Geek. Yes I learned that when you measure you have to measure to the front of the bow not the back so yes the bow does come really close to 45 just a hair a bit heavier. But fantastic bow though I would highly recommend it to anyone great shooter thank you again for your feedback and support God bless.
Sig Man Archery Ok so good to go - thinking 40# though
Archery Geek. Yes sir 40# should be good but I will say that 45# did seem heavy. If you get it for the right price I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
not sure if i can shoot as good as sig man though🙂
@@unknown-archer My friend I hope I someday shoot as good as you, your skill is very impressive. But I do thank you for stopping by and taking time to comment.

Dang man, for 45lbs that puppy is zinging em in there!
Karl Ruedger. Yes sir it’s a really nice shooting bow well worth the money, if you’re looking for another long bow it would make you a good one take care sir God bless.
Hi! How thick is your string? I've just gotten one of these bows and the string is so thick (3mm or 1/8" at the serving) that none of the arrows I've tried will nock correctly because its just too tight. Did you have trouble finding arrows thick enough for it?
I’m not sure of hand but I will check it out this weekend and I will let you know. And I’m shooting the 400 spine black out arrows from bass pro. Thank you sir for stopping by and for your feedback and support take care my friend I’ll talk to ya soon.
@@sigmanarchery54 Thank-you for the reply and information. What brace height is yours currently set to? Ragims older Wolf product literature from 2015 states the brace height should be between 7" and 7" 3/4, but now on their product page they recommend between 7'' 1/2 to 8'' 1/2. Do you think one of these could be an error?
@@Alex1M6 when I got mine it was a recommended brace height of 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 and mine is at 8 and works great
@@Alex1M6 hay my string is 1/8” thick and I use all different knocks.
@@sigmanarchery54 Thanks, I've got a thinner string on mine now as I was having trouble finding arrows and nocks that fit.
I'm interested in buying a left handed bow that's 50-60 pounds I have the money for it now.
SlingshotWarrrior. Sounds great what price range are you looking for and have you done much shooting with a bow.
@@sigmanarchery54 I've done some shooting with a bow but mostly youth compound bows. And other light bows, so I'm looking that's badass. But can accommodate a beginner you said before you said before. You'd sell me 1 for $100 but if you want a little bit more $150 could also work.
SlingshotWarrrior. I have a new compound for sale. And you are left handed.
@@sigmanarchery54 Yes, please make sure it's light on the pounds but not to light. I could probably handle 70 pounds?
