I say more firearms needed for responsible people but we also need to set up proper training. Not only to teach people to shoot properly or how to use a firearm, but to elaborate on when to actually use it, when to escalate and de-escalate. What is the meaning of protection of life and property. People who have not being in the armed forces need to get full firearm classroom training and proper range days must be completed with all syllabus covered.
In some countries like in the EU, a firearm is used only to protect life, in Jamaica its life and property. So people need to be able to define it properly and all the elements attached to the term being used.
De-escalation can be at any point of a conflict. For eg. If you are confronted by someone and by the time you pull your weapon the person is running 🏃♀️ away from you then you have to de-escalate and report the matter to the police. Because you are not suppose to shoot someone in the back.
Persons who are very emotional should not get a firearm......carrying something like that should require logics not feeling..... also some of these person not even deserve driver license because alot of them are driving with emotions than logics

Once you have no criminal record and are of sound mind you should be able to get a license firearm and they also need to take away the import tax on guns and allow law abiding citizens to arm themselves.
