Met you at 2024 Grands. My son Jayden got to take a Pic with you right after the award Ceremony. Appreciate all that you do and provide to the racing community. I watched the original video you did about the pedals a while back. Definitely made a difference. Awesome tips on all of your videos. Thank you and keep them coming.

Last year, I bought a new set of HT T2 because the springs on my old set were worn out to much. But I also bought a new set of springs so I could have a spare set of pedals.
I was kind of afraid to play with the springs, but it turned out to be a pretty simple task. It took me about 30 minutes to change all four springs and the pedals are still working like new after a season of abuses.
Love your technical content, it really help me to do my repairs and maintenance on my fleet of bmx and mountain bikes!

That’s cool to hear! I’ll have to get a set of springs and do a video about that

Great tip, just did that to my HT’s. Always hated how stiff they were. Would love to see video of pumping technique. You are the absolute master of generating speed over obstacles by pumping. And if anyone else reads this, try to get to one of Barry’s clinics.. it helped me immensely 🤘

The content is great. I appreciate the how too videos. I haven’t gotten into the spindle but I’ve done the springs and back plate Mechanism and that’s not too bad. I was afraid there was more inside the pedal to worry about and wouldn’t get it back together correctly. Seeing this ill have a go at it, Thanks Barry

The engineer in me wishes there was a quantitative way to see if this actually helps. Obviously it free spins better… but under load (which high pressure is one reason greases exist compared to oil lubrication) I wonder if you’re actually losing some minuscule number of watts.
Regardless, I love to see this content. As a 32yo BMX’er who started this at 7yo, it’s nice to see someone who stuck it out to the top, turning around and giving back. We’ll be watching!

Thank you for making and for sharing the video.
One thing seemed to be missing from this pedal spinning specific video.
You never really explained exactly why the better/more/faster spinning
pedal is actually better for improving peddling/racing performance etc.
I am not trying to bust any balls....I am just left kind of semi-seriously
wondering why the need and why the bother.
What is the big advantage to be had for the rider?
How does peddle spin rate factor in to making more/better speed?
Is it just more of a "better feel" to the specific rider's desires
    type of thing?

Anything that moves more freely will have less friction. Less friction means less energy used to move. These are the 1%s that I talk about out often. Little things throughout your set up that work more efficiently will work together for bigger overall gains.
Think about how much better your body works after you’re warmed up then if you were to just roll out of bed stiff.

The biggest improvement you can make kinda depends where you start. Going out and buying a Chase Element vs an Edge is going to change that answer significantly.
A nice wheelset/tire/TPU tube is the best way to stiffen the wheels as well as dropping rotating weight. So that would get my vote, but it can get pricey quick!
