- It is no secret - I have really gotten into "fanny packs" as of late (*I'm not ashamed of it either*). They are so handy for short day hikes or outings where you don't need a ton of gear. As a result, the Grayl Hip Pack has become one of my go-to bags.

I found that the Stanley two cup cookset fits perfectly in that side holder. Toss one of the cups and nest a gas cannister and small stove in it. Mine is nested in a stuffsack and fits absolutely beautifully. That takes care of a cook kit. The sheathed Mora Garberg also fits nicely in the main pocket as well. It's a great piece of gear to keep your basic EDC.
I do wish Grayl had added some shock cord or another run of molle webbing on top to secure a poncho or rolled up raincoat.
I really like this hip pack and am blown away at the simplicity and usefulness of the Grayl water filters. I'm just waiting on them to do a titanium GeoPress.
Great tip on the Stanley Adventure Cookset! That is one of my all-time favorite pieces of camp cookware.
Thanks for watching and it sounds like you've got a great kit going for yourself as well :)
They just released a 24oz titanium geopress.
@@bubasnyeah, I pre-ordered one with the lid the day they offered them. I just got an email from Grayl. It was supposed to be shipped today but was delayed. Now it's supposed to ship on the 30th.
Appreciate the overview - great piece of kit for day hikes.
Thanks for checking it out, Charlie!
I've really enjoyed this bag :)
Thanks for the gear review as well as the giveaway. I made sure to toss my hat into the ring and am keeping my fingers crossed.
Awesome!!! Best of luck :)
Great review and quality video. Just picked up one of these for my hunting trips up here in Alaska and it is WELL worth the money!
Awesome to hear!! This would definitely be a fantastic day-back for hunting trips...I agree with that. Best of luck on your upcoming hunts :)
Awesome. I love my Grayl.
Glad to hear it! They really are doing some great stuff.
Great video, would love to see the contents either in another video or a post on your website! Seems like you’re able to get a whole bunch in there, cheers!
Thanks for watching and for the support!
I definitely need to do some more bag dump videos in the near future 🙂
I bought a Grayl Ultra Compress filterbottle! What can I make, to test the "BottleLock Hip Pack" you have shown? I write books and a blog about survival and bushcrafting in germany!
Great gear ⚙️ review really want this for my outdoor event good luck 🍀 to me.
Good luck!! Thanks so much for watching, Jeffrey.
I wish these came in solids…
I'll pass this along in my next conversation with Grayl. Great idea!
Thanks for the video, really good insight and I just ordered one of those awesome patches. I do have a question, at 3:14 in the video you showed a diffrent bag with what looks like a light of some sort. Can you tell me which light that is?
Awesome!! Thank you so much.
As for the light - That is the Fenix E-Lite. It, unfortunately, looks like they've discontinue it now. That was a fantastic clip-on light for packs like this.
Love my Grayl
They do great work, man!
One question how many leaks. It can be done
GeoPress® One-Way Drink Mix
I've had no issues with the Geopress leaking...Even in the horizontal bottle carrier here. Thanks for watching!
I like the straps for holding a bottle, Grayl or otherwise, but $160usd for a fanny pack!!??!! Sorry...gotta pass.
I can totally hear ya on price - I like some expensive gear...But, I always like to have good budget-friendly options around too.
Check out these options:
• Helikon-Tex Bandicoot and Possum. I have attached shock cord to these to hold my bottle before and it works well-enough to get ya by.
• Blue Ridge Overland Gear Bum Bag XL. I love the "Bum Bag" line from BROG. And I'm using the XL a lot this year.
Those recommendations aren't identical to the Grayl Bottle Lock Hip Pack...But, hopefully it'll give ya some other good options to take a peek at.
@@AnthonyAwaken It's a cool looking hip pack, don't get me wrong. It's just that it's easily double the $$ of commensurate hip packs from top end manufacturers like M.R., Osprey, Mountainsmith etc. I myself have been known to go in for a high priced item here or there but generally try to reserve that for products that are novel or U.L. and spending double on a hip pack to get a few gear loops on the bottom doesn't fit the bill IMO.
I just received one and instantly have buyers’ remorse. Its quality and volume in NO WAY justifies its price.
